# Which connected worker platforms have the best ROI evidence for reducing equipment downtime and improving overall equipment effectiveness for manufacturers?

I spend a lot of my connected worker platform research on the downtime-and-OEE question, since that is where manufacturers most want proof a tool pays off. Here are four where reviewers, and in some cases the vendors' own customer-reported numbers, speak to that. Ratings are included, and where a figure is vendor-reported I have flagged it as such rather than treating it as independent.

L2L (4.3 stars, 216 reviews) is built around eliminating downtime, and reviewers describe it surfacing issues in one plant area before they reach the next, with root-cause analysis and instant dispatch; the vendor reports customers saving billions annually in downtime costs, which is a claim rather than an independent result.

Redzone (4.8 stars, 578 reviews) gives real-time OEE monitoring and dashboards that reviewers say replaced paper and gave them instant visibility; Redzone reports customer averages of a 26% productivity gain in 90 days and a 24% cut in unplanned downtime.

MaintainX (4.8 stars, 1,538 reviews) draws praise for standardizing preventive maintenance and cutting reactive work; MaintainX reports customer averages of 32% less unplanned downtime and 38% more equipment uptime, which are vendor figures worth verifying for your own case.

Factbird (4.6 stars, 63 reviews) captures line data through sensors and cameras with built-in OEE, and reviewers report increased equipment availability and reduced unplanned downtime, with one noting it installed in minutes and needed little IT.

For the manufacturers here: whose ROID claims actually held up once you were live, and did you measure downtime and OEE before and after, or go on feel? Curious which of these gave you a number you could take to leadership.

The baseline discussion is exactly why I’d separate avoided downtime from faster recovery. Even with imperfect historical data, teams can usually measure whether mean time to repair changes after rollout. If the platform helps technicians diagnose and resolve the same failures faster, that gives leadership a defensible operational signal without having to attribute every change in OEE to the software.

### Comment 2

I’d trust the ROI story most when the team had a clear downtime and OEE baseline before rollout. Redzone and MaintainX sound promising, but the number I’d take to leadership is the actual change in unplanned downtime after a few months, not the vendor benchmark.

### Comment 3

The measurement problem here is that downtime usually wasn't recorded consistently before one of these went in, so the baseline ends up being the first few months of the new system. That tends to understate the improvement, since early data captures stoppages that previously went unlogged. Worth agreeing with leadership upfront which number you're comparing against.

The distinction you draw between an independent result and a vendor-reported claim is the one that actually matters here. A downtime number only means something if you captured a baseline before go-live; it's a feeling dressed up as a metric. The teams that can take a figure to leadership are almost always the ones that measured OEE before and after, not just after.
