Navisworks is an essential part of my workflow for merging multi-disciplinary models and conducting thorough viewpoint reviews. The Model Coordination Add-in has significantly streamlined our process by connecting cloud models directly to Navisworks, eliminating manual exports and saving hours of file management each week. An unexpected benefit has been how much faster design review meetings go by leveraging saved viewpoints with detailed markups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

While the Model Coordination Add-in is a great addition, the clash detection integration feels incomplete. In Navisworks, Clash Detective operates as a standalone tool rather than natively syncing with cloud-based Model Coordination issues. It would be much more efficient if clashes detected in Navisworks could be automatically converted into tracked like model coordination issues directly through the add-in workflow. As a BIM Manager, what I like best about Navisworks is its ability to bring all disciplines into one federated model and quickly identify coordination issues before construction starts. It helps teams review complex projects efficiently and resolve clashes early, reducing rework and project risk. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One thing I dislike about Navisworks is that handling large federated models can sometimes impact performance, and certain visualization or integration workflows may not behave consistently across connected platforms. For example, project discussions noted cases where surfaces were visible in Navisworks but not in Workshop XR, requiring additional investigation and coordination. My favorite part is its incredible performance when opening massive 3D files without crashing, along with the smooth integrations that make it easy to bring models from different software into one place and combine them seamlessly. Its UI and tabs are also very simple to understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

If I need to find a particular clash number from a clash test, it’s very difficult because there’s no search tab for it. Also, batch clash approval is very slow. On top of that, it doesn’t include the geometry data of Revit elements, such as vectors and location lines, which could help with some automations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Navisworks excels at bringing architectural, structural, and MEP models together into a single coordinated environment, then running fast, easy-to-read clash tests that clearly flag conflicts (pipe vs. beam, duct vs. cable tray, etc.) without requiring any edits to the source files. This makes it straightforward to sort, prioritize, and report clashes early in the process, which directly helps reduce rework, RFIs, and field delays. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Navisworks is purely a review/coordination tool, so you can’t directly fix clashes in the model; you have to switch back to Revit, AutoCAD, or your authoring software to make changes and then reload. For fast‑paced projects, this constant round‑tripping can slow down coordination and feel inefficient Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like most about Autodesk Navisworks is the way it pulls complex 3D models into a single place, so clash detection and coordination stay clear and highly visual. It makes the whole process feel surprisingly manageable, even when you’re working on large projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I dislike about Autodesk Navisworks is that it can feel heavy and slow when working with large models. The interface also isn’t very intuitive for beginners, so there’s a bit of a learning curve. On top of that, some of the more advanced features are locked behind higher-tier versions, which can be limiting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like best about Navisworks is how effective it is for coordination and clash detection in multidisciplinary projects.

It allows you to combine multiple models (architectural, structural, MEP) into a single coordinated environment without heavy files.

The clash detection tools are very clear and practical, making it easy to identify, classify, and track conflicts (like MEP vs. structure or cable trays vs. plumbing). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It’s a review-only tool—you can’t fix clashes directly, so you always have to go back to Revit or another authoring software, which can slow down coordination.

Clash results management can become messy on large projects if naming conventions and rules aren’t well defined.

The interface feels outdated compared to newer Autodesk tools and isn’t very intuitive for new users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It’s easy to use and straightforward to understand. It also loads quickly, which makes the overall experience smooth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Accurate dimensioning and elevation aren’t working properly, and the clipping also isn’t very good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

its best trait is that it acts as the "source of truth" for constructability before any concrete is poured or panels are hung. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

For teams looking to automate specific data extraction or create customized coordination workflows, the Navisworks API is often described by developers as clunky and difficult to work with compared to the ecosystems surrounding other modeling software Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Navisworks best for its powerful clash detection and model aggregation capabilities, which combine multiple disciplines into a single federated model to identify conflicts before construction Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Navisworks is often criticized for its outdated user interface and a steep learning curve, which can make navigating complex models and advanced features difficult for new users Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The robust range of view settings is very helpful for visualizing the work and coordinating among trades. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have experienced graphic glitches when using saved views. The pan and orbit functions while using sections can be temperamental. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
