From my experience best features of Calypso platform are:

-high performance

-flexibility (could be quite easily adjusted to the needs of the organisation)

-ability to offer automatic solutions for complex manual operations

The main downside during my work was that system got overloaded once in a while which resulted into significant delays in the workflows. However, in most of the cases, Calypso platform was working fine after the restart. The only issue here was waiting till the queue of unprocessed operations gets processed (could take up to an hour).
