There is a button for everything and once you learn the buttons, you are well on your way to drafting with MS. **What do you dislike about MicroStation?** I find editing is cumbersome at times. Getting an item inserted is easy, but manipulating that items seems tricky and not straightforward with the commands available. **Recommendations to others considering MicroStation:** Learn all of the buttons. This is what will make your drafting quicker. **What problems is MicroStation solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use MicroStation for drafting design for transportation projects. The add-ons for the agency I prepare plans for is invaluable as well as file sharing capabilities. ### 2. We have employees that use both and they have noted that it is difficult to go back and forth due to the differences. **What problems is MicroStation solving and how is that benefiting you?** Highway design, primarily. It was great with customized tools and such. The ability to export to other file types is great. **What do you dislike about MicroStation?** Now the program is bulk and not as intuitive as it once was. Adding the 3d options into there complicates things more. **What problems is MicroStation solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have realized teams using the same software is easier to work with than people using different types of cad software. Micro station is pass its prime and now most have gravitated to other platforms. ### 13. The AccuDraw is a very handy tool as well, once you know the basic commands for it. We also have to edit a lot of images of old plans so using Descartes, the image editing program, along with Microstation is perfect for editing. **What do you dislike about MicroStation?** The user interface definitely needs to be adjusted. Don't get me wrong, the old Microstation was much worse but some more tweeks need to be made. They need to update more often too, not like the AutoCAD every year update but the time span between updates is way too far. Don't like that I can't do both 3D and 2D in the same drawing. You have to have a 3D seed file in order to do this. The text tool needs some updates as well as it's almost like the Mtext tool in AutoCAD but fails to go to the next level and deliver a some necessary tools like having 2 different text sizes in 1 text box. **Recommendations to others considering MicroStation:** I would only recommend Microstation solely based on if a client demands it. If I had the choice, I would use AutoCAD mainly as I feel it is a more powerful tool. **What problems is MicroStation solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have to use Microstation for a certain client and found that although it took some time to learn, we were able to put together some decent plans. ### 14.
