We were able to immediately populate the tool with our list of projects and resources. It took some time to consider how we want to allocate resources working on multiple projects, but once we settled on a practice for the team to follow, we were all able to get in there daily to keep things up to date in one tool instead of 3 different places. I don't have the time to go project to project in MP, or sometimes even get into MP, to see what's been changed and I already have an external dashboard that I use to monitor the portfolio. I can't do basic portfolio analytics like project lifecycles, days in a certain status, etc. and dissect that info by client or project type. Those are important PMO-level metrics that I don't have. The other thing that I know you're working on now is to have project specific rates for each resource. We manage huge client engagements that oftentimes have multiple rate cards depending on the business segment we're engaged with. Some of our resources are on several projects, but with different rates for each project. We are able to visualize the allocation of our consulting workforce on existing clients and prospective client opportunities. We are able to forecast our revenue. It is the core system we use in our weekly management and staffing meetings. It is easy to use. What do you dislike about Meisterplan? We need a more granular resource skillset tracking and identification tool. For example, if we need to identify a consultant who will be available in June, who is a Sr. .Net backend developer, a minimum of mid-level React front-end skills, has good mentoring skills to work with two junior developers, and is able to be onsite at the client 3 days per week. Best project portfolio management application I've used in 30+ year career. Keeping project management isolated from portfolio management has been a benefit to us rather than using a full PM/PfM/PPM application; the flexibility in letting diverse business units keep their project management practices that work best for their teams and workflows while bringing together top-down planning is a good balance for our organization. I've led F100 PMO teams that were responsible for portfolio and project management tools and processes, including MS Project, Asana, Clarity PPM and Planview. WHile each tool has strengths, Meisterplan was quickest to onboard and least costly to maintain. Meisterplan's strength is modeling and comparing various scenarios for schedule and resourcing; it does this better than any PPM tool I've used. The project scoring functionality is flexible and IMO peerless. We can make far better-informed project selection, scheduling and pacing decisions and thereby improve the ROI on the projects we select and deliver. Visual tool that packs in a lot of information in a clear visual: Project dates, resource loading and profitability, all at once. Easy to see the effects of changes (drag an element and the system updates the rest) Easy to use! Love the option to consider or exclude certain projects from the calculation, as well as the scenario- planning capacity. Financials are time-related, so that you can match the inflows with dates or milestones. Great for cash-flow management! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Meisterplan? Would benefit from some extra customization options (eg: keep milestones fixed once date is in the past, even if the project is prolonged, etc.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Meisterplan: Don't expect to use for micro-management of individual tasks. Meisterplan allowed us to make sure our projects were profitable and correctly staffed, and to make sure any change was correctly reflected in the other aspects of the projects. No real dislike just observations: Can get expensive with named ressources metric for users.
