**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Diego H. | Software Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2020

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

What I like most about MariaDB is its similarity to MySQL, so if you previously worked with MySQL managing databases with MariaDB will be a simple task. Another feature that I like is that it is totally free. I also like the fact that migration can be carried out without inconvenience.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

MariaDB is completely free and has an easy to manage GUI. Also, it shares the same source code as MySQL, so I don't have any negative comments about this software.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

MariaDB is fast and completely free. In my opinion, it is an improved version of MySQL. Also, migration can be carried out easily. I recommend MariaDB.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am currently using MariaDB in multiple development environments to run tests on different apps. Also, I have migrated various databases from MySQL to MariaDB easily and cleanly.

  ### 10. MariaDB is a very useful database manager for local development and testing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Claudia L. | Tester, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2020

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

I like MariaDB because it works under a relational scheme. It is possible to store, retrieve and manipulate data with ease. Another reason I like this software is that it has Aria as its storage engine, which allows complex queries to be made in short periods of time. Also, the data can be easily imported and exported.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

I have not had any problems so far with MariaDB, even its performance is very good thanks to its cache in RAM.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

I recommend using this database manager, especially for testing or local development. Also, if I previously work with MySQL it will work under the same scheme with MariaDB.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MariaDB's learning curve is very short and that's the biggest benefit, since it's basically a replacement for MySQL. With this database administrator I can create multiple databases to store a wide variety of data from the different applications that we have in the organization.

  ### 11. A great tool with high integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edward C. | Full Stack, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

The tool comes with an excellent user interface, is easy to set up and use, and is very effective when it comes to database administration. What I highlight most are the Alert Table queries, as in MariaDB you can check progress on a list of processes, so you can always keep a visual track on the progress

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

Lack of personal support community approach Lacks GUI interface as far as I know to install in the Linux desktop environment. I've had some problems with scalability, but that's a small database and centralized data The migration is not the easiest to use, compared to other applications I've used in the past.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

A tool with good integration with others, to work comfortable and very functional.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This information helps when informing our customers, besides maintaining some metadata for analytical purposes is too powerful and increases the speed of data synchronization of our software Mysqltuner is an incredible program to help you adjust the settings The migration has never been so easy and generally has a good performance

  ### 12. The most used open-source database.....

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saverio F. | Administration, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

Very popular, a fork of the MySQL project after Oracle's acquisition, with a huge community supporting every problem or improving the system's behavior. It is supported on all operating systems. It is often provided in a bundle with various Php and Apache (LAMP for Linux and WAMP for Windows) offering all the tools to set up a Web server (Apache) and implement the logic (Php) using the DB.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

To have a high-performing system with a lot of data, it is really necessary to do very precise tuning, which requires a lot of work.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

To be used without problems for small and medium-sized projects. If you need to use large amounts of data, then you need to carefully assess the requirements.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The use of a powerful DBMS (DataBase Management System) helps you support your company's needs without spending a fortune but with the support of a huge community that helps you solve problems.

  ### 13. Using MariaDB to manage data on distributed systems

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henry W. | Jefe de sistemas de información, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

MariaDB allows us to deploy several database server instances for each location where we have a point of data generation. This is a distributed system architecture to implement using MariaDB.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

We have to invest additional effort and time to ensure the database services and to tune the synchronization processes.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

Define your system architecture.
Test the proposed system architecture before the deployment.
Make a data sizing analyze to set the final data storage.
Use a monitoring solution to ensure the health of the system.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To deploy a distributed system architecture considering the cost of licensing of operating systems and database server licensing.

  ### 14. Fast Opensource Database

Very popular with a huge community that can support you with every problem or tuning request.
Work on almost all Operative Systems its supported often with Php and Apache for both Linux and WIndows systems (LAMP, WMP).

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

You have to made a deep tuning to gather full performance with huge data.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

Use it for sure for medium/small projects. If you need to move to huge data, you have to eval and make a good project before choose wich DBMS to use.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Use of a poweful DBMS to solve your Company needs without spending money and with a support of a big community to deals with probems.

  ### 15. We changed Informix and MySQL to MariaDB four years ago.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ramon G. | programador, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

Expire_logs_days = 10 max_binlog_size = 500M. Add to my 0 has become a complete replacement of the MySQL server. We are very

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

The Cassandra connector at the time of my use turned into a constraining piece. The recognition of its development is not very clear to me. The recognition of the improvement is not very clear to me com ok ok oo mariadb o mariadb-vs-mysql-compatibility o.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some of the open and incredible bugs affecting MySQL also affect MariaDB: when seeking help, the database engine you are addressing should sometimes not be used. Any database that required MySQL, we have been transferred to MariaDB. Mysqltuner is an exceptional program to help you adjust the settings. Mysys, sq., Myisam, etc. There is already a series of manuals about MariaDB that allow you to get up and go for a walk right away.

  ### 16. The transition from MySQL was pretty fast

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** vicky l. | IT Financial Staff, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

Like most users of MariaDB, we started with MySQL. When we wanted to switch, we thought the process would be tedious, but it actually was pretty quick and effective, with no reconfiguration or reprogramming required. This was great because we hold a big a database and this could’ve been problematic. All the reads on MariaDB are really fast and it’s compatible with all the apps developed to MySQLDB, so we still get to use the best features.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

A couple of times I have found cases of malformed data with no particular reason. Also, when erasing cache data it takes too much time for a process so simple. Also, I think it lacks of some features, such as one that allows user to compute median values for the whole database.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

MariaDB is a great solution for companies looking for a solid RDBMS. It will give you a high range of management tools to add and perform effectively.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MariaDB is implemented in our company as a database server for several of the online services we provide. It is used by all the developers on the IT department and all of them, me included, agree it’s better than MySQL.

  ### 17. MariaDB is very easy to use and is updated frequently

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cristian P. | Arquitecto de software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

For starters, what strikes me most about MariaDB is that it is open source. It is excellent that it has a large community of users that contribute to its development. On the other hand, it has GIS features which facilitates location data queries. In addition, it has excellent accessories such as Connect and Spider to improve storage. I can also highlight its simplicity to migrate, being a replacement for MySQL.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

I think this database manager is not as scalable as it is for example, MongoDB or Cassandra. I have had some problems with scalability, but that is a small database and centralized data. I have also had problems with the cluster, which stops due to inactivity.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

MariaDB promotes day by day development in their community. In addition, its code is available in all public repositories and all development phases are also available. It is flexible and usually has a good performance. I recommend it, for those old MySQL developers.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use MariaDB to store data that we collect in digital marketing. For us, it was very easy to migrate from MySQL to MariaDB. In addition, it is very modern and easy to access. On the other hand, it facilitates our works and projects by having much updated documentation online at our disposal.

  ### 18. MariaDB is guaranteed solidity

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan F. | Ingeniero de sistemas, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

MariaDB offers stability and is open source, which minimizes costs. The important thing is that it is supported on a large platform of users who frequently publish very useful solutions. As for its configuration, it is very basic and does not need a lot of computer resources. I like the modification in terms of the structure of the table in reference to MySQL.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

I think the debugging tool fails sometimes, because it does not analyze the missing indexes. I also found some flaws in the replication of the database.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

MariaDB is a great project and is supported in a large community of users. It is fast and works perfectly with a large amount of data. Also security is guaranteed.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think MariaDB has given us security, because security patches are obtained frequently. Migration has never been so easy and usually has a good performance. Previously we used MySQL and the security versions were slow.

  ### 19. More intuitive and effective than MySQL

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eleazar G. | Airfast Tech Enterprise, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

MariaDB is a great solution for partitioning, as implementation feels solid and fluid. Something I really like is that it always stays updated, as new releases for security patches are launched monthly, keeping MariaDB always on top in security matters. MariaDB definitely has some advantages over MySQL. The one I highlight the most are the Alert Table queries, as in MariaDB you’re able to check the progress in a process list, so you can always keep a visual track in the advances. This can’t be done with MySQL.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

In order to run MariaDB properly, you must a have a decent hardware, otherwise, writes may be effected and you may experience some troubles. Also, the compatibility with MySQL isn’t always happening, as the newer versions of MySQL don’t integrate well with MariaDB. You have to make some internal work in order to make this integration possible.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

MariaDB is a great option for companies or personals wanting to work with open source software that demands active clusters. If you are a MySQL user, MariaDB integrates with MySQL so you can export your database from one to another. Adaption from one platform to another will be easy, as MySQL and MariaDB share similar interfaces, libraries, APIs and commands. However, consider you must have a great hardware in order to run MariaDB.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MariaDB is used by our company internally for many applications. The infrastructure team is in charge of using the database for setting up some management tools. This data helps when it comes to report to our customers, as well as keeping some metadata for analytical purposes. The integration with Galera gives this solution a great spot in availability.

  ### 20. MariaDB experience

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel J. | Lead System Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

OpenSource environment and Replication options. There is a very good community based around this product and finding answers online is relatively painless.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

Lack of enterprise support in a corporate environment. I wish there was more adoption which would lend to more support providers

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

Need to have experience with MySQL and enterprise database experience a plus

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Master and Master replication clusters with SQL Proxy to break up to more servers

  ### 21. Excellent Database for all types of purposes.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert J. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

It is very easy to handle complex queries. It has good performance with large databases. It is compatible with MySQL databases, so migration can be a fairly fast and hassle-free process.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

I have noticed that the debugging tool has some shortcomings, since it is not able to analyze the missing indexes in the tables.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

I recommend this database. I use MariaDB for my website that handles a lot of traffic. I never had any problem, and the best part, it's free!

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my company we have migrated to MariaDB because it is an open source project and we are not limited when it comes to paying for a license to use it, it is practically a Database derived from MySQL and most of the queries are compatible with each other.

  ### 22. Best experience with maria DB

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

i install this SGDB to test some applications that i develop, and needed keep my packege with small size.
I was surprised, positively, with MariaDB, that hav a great performance and a lot of resources available in other databases more expensives.
One of this resources was a possibility of use store procedures and create full routines to treat data.
The security was a good suprise too, with many leves of acess to different users.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

The only thing that i don´t liked was the instalation on linux. I need did a lot of configuration in txt files. If the developers create an application to make friendlly interface, to configurate, and improve compatibility with Mysql Workbench, will be perfect.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the great point of mariaDB is the small size, that make easy deploy with any application, with a reduced size.
I create a webservices that use the mariaDB to query customers and products, with great easy, because it is full compatible with PHP scripts

  ### 23. Incredible database of great power

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan F. | chief of programming in the cloud, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

I like this software because it is a solid and secure database, at the same time it is an improved version of MySQL, it has really powerful search engines for when you have a lot of information in the databases. It is also widely used in the company for our web projects because of the ease of integration it has with servers such as apache

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

I do not like that this software does not bring all the functions are fully documented, the same happens in the case of MySQL. But it is a software like a lot of potential, which is used in large projects and is superior to its competence

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

I highly recommend this software, I really consider it a great software for many web projects, I always recommend it to my colleagues

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to solve the speed of response when consulting content from a database, since it used to take longer, and thanks to the fast search engines of Maria DB can be consulted in tables with large amounts of data without having to take time. Finally this software is helping us to develop various applications in the cloud, which without the help of this software were very slow and heavy applications when using. This software has been a great tool for the company

  ### 24. the best and fastest database

this is our main database and sites and stores, we already worked with it at one time in our base due to its speed, optimization, perfomance in processing large amount of data, it has much to offer

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

for a long time, I work with mariadb I have never had any that I did not like in its form of functionality so I believe it needs to improve my queries libraries

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

we never fail to recommend this excellent database, for all that it is capable, if you think about creating a system, sites, stores, online system any other that needs a database can rely on mariadb

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 25. Excellent database for websites and web applications in the cloud

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Guillermo F. | Chief of Programming, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

It is a database widely used in our company for the large number of extra features with respect to MySQL, the search engines it has are really powerful against the competition, and is a perfect solution for a large number of applications developed by the company

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

He really considers that he has a lot of tools, his constant updates and for this I think he has nothing that disgusts me. Since it is a tool with great potential for the use that is being given to the company

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

I believe that any company that has any website or web applications should use this database, since it is very fast and excellent to handle large data flows. I recommend it to all my colleagues. At the same time it is very easy to integrate to any website, and it is also easy to migrate from MySQL to MariaDB.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solve the problems of connection to the database access to large amount of information easily and quickly. Previously with MySQL it was a bit slower the way to make queries to the database, now it is much faster. In turn, the migration made from MySQL is really simple ,because we have done migration work on clients and they are also extremely satisfied

  ### 26. Great database to use for java developers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jorge S. | Software development engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

It's free and open source so I don't have to worry about licenses or legal troubles for me or my company when I build a java app with this database integrated as a data backend. It's 99% like MySQL except for little details and that is not owned by Oracle.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

It's 99% like MySQL but that little 1% sometimes causes compatibility issues when migrating from MySQL to MariaDB.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

Migrating from MySQL is easy in almost all instances and it's worth it 100% of the time

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bundling the server side of the applications I build with MariaDB is an easy and safe way to make sure everything will work as intended.

  ### 27. Easy to learn database

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

Very distributed teams, communication can be a challenge - Slack helps a lot
Poor management that will throw you under the bus in front of others.
The company is missing strategic & ethical leadership at the top, with a small closed door executive team. Employees feel disengaged, burnt out and not respected, with only the ones with non-marketable skills staying on for job security.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

Plenty of opportunity to fix things and gain experience in a variety of areas. Leverages the reputation of MySQL as core product. Unfortunately, it is now outdated with limited scope for growth in today's market. Some good talent coming through misled by its new silicon valley presence, but they usually leave pretty fast.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use MariaDB to store some customers informations and reuse it for giving customers all services that they need. Work to promote open communications, and ensure employees aren't punished for two-way, honest and transparent feedback, and importantly that a "yes" culture isn't developed and potential problems or delays hidden.

  ### 31. Excellent Choice for Enterprise

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kanhaiya A. | Prep Chef, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

MariaDB is something new in the market and toward the starting, I didn't know about making the relocation, but rather it has been extremely simple to utilize and has demonstrated a great deal of solidness and speed, I extremely like it to be OpenSource with the product under the GPL permits. This decreases numerous costs which gives a point in support while picking it, I like that it has a huge network where there are dependably individuals willing to help in any issue, its design in the servers is very basic and with not very many assets can have the administration operational, I like that the facilitating suppliers have included it at no extra cost, which influences me to think of it like a ton when I'm going to execute a substance administrator or an electronic trade framework.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

In spite of the fact that the network has attempted to ensure 100% similarity with MySQL actually it isn't exactly evident when moving to MariaDB it is important to change a few information types that are not accessible. I didn't care for that it is important to uninstall MySQL on my advancement servers so as to introduce MariaDB. This product is fine for little and medium ventures yet it is constrained when you require a hearty database and with many long and visit inquiries so for huge activities it's anything but a decent alternative.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

I trust that any organization that has any site or web applications should utilize this database since it is exceptionally quick and amazing to deal with huge information streams. I prescribe it to every one of my partners. In the meantime, it is exceptionally simple to incorporate to any site, and it is likewise simple to relocate from MySQL to MariaDB.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not at all like numerous other open source ventures Oracle acquired from the Sun procurement, Oracle does without a doubt still create MySQL and as far as anyone is concerned they have even contracted new able designers after the majority of the first engineers surrendered. The following real discharge MySQL 5.7 will have critical enhancement over MySQL 5.6. In any case, the summit log of 5.7 demonstrates that all donors are @oracle.com. Most submit messages reference issue numbers that are just in an inward tracker at Oracle and in this way not open for open dialog. There are no new submits in the most recent 3 months since Oracle appears to refresh the general population code archive just in huge clusters post-discharge. This does not strike as an improvement exertion that would profit by people in general input circle and the Linus law of "given enough eyes all bugs are shallow".

MariaDB then again is created completely in the open: all advancement choices can be evaluated and bantered on an open mailing rundown of in people in general bug tracker. Adding to MariaDB with patches is simple and fix stream is straightforward in the completely open and exceptional code archive. The Github measurements for MySQL 5.7 show 24 patrons while the proportional figure for MariaDB 10.1 is 44 givers. In any case, it isn't only an issue of code benefactors – in our experience, MariaDB appears to be increasingly dynamic likewise in documentation endeavors, conveyance bundling and other related things that are required in everyday database organization.

The open nature of MariaDB is what I liked the most . You can fully see what was applied in recent patches and what they resolved. This is very helpful if a bug comes up and your trying to figure out if a recent change was the cause.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

Openness. I am sure there are some not legit people looking at recent patches and seeing how they can exploit non updated servers.

The price is also brilliant, that is, without dismantling. Very aware of rescue statistics. Extremely solid to apply in production structures. The exceptional factor I appreciated about MariaDB is that it became very easy to investigate and use. Additionally, the new features are usually faster for MariaDB.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

It is very difficult to discover what it is that one doesn't like about MariaDB, I suppose the reality is that it is not as scalable as its NoSQL counterparts. The scalability issues arise when the data is in a larger range of TB. This is true for a centralized database and small to medium-sized configurations. Also, from time to time we have faced positive issues with data replication. Additionally, from time to time we face positive issues with data replication.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

The update to MariaDB has made things much easier for me and for the students as well. Header, footer, etc. We use it as a database engine, which is found in all the famous Linux distributions for Drupal development, especially. Make MariaDB strive to be faster and more reliable than MYSQL.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it for many other unique portions of the program. We use a MariaDB on our server to host a Data Warehouse. Additionally, many programs like Cloudera use MariaDB as a backend. Small applications from queries to ddbb. This has allowed us to considerably reduce the amount of massive guide improvement that occurs by splitting HTML pages with common structures.

Cluster function for wiki or WordPress, compatible with existing mysql. Most of the time I use it to serve woocommerce and it did really good. A lot of bash web server installation script may auto implement Mariadb to your server environment by default and compare to other paid DB, e.g. Oracle, it's works good enough for a blogger. It will be a good fit if you install the phpmyadmin for db control and edit.

continue to improve but need more publicity is good but basic there are applications that in my case I do not need but I recommend to people who are starting in the world of programming they will work

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is compatible with all versions of mysql, once you try it and very good indeed.

I solved some details that unlike mysql has some advantages direct replacement of InnoDB direct replacement of Federated and Removed by Oracle of MySQL 5.1.55 but is included in the code of MariaDB up to version 5.5

**Reviewed by:** Philippe L. | Principal Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

Blazing (and crash resistant) speed with Aria, safe transactions with standard MySQL syntax. Stable, predictable, growing set of features that satisfies every DB storage need. The ability to deploy delayed replication with relative ease is a bonus.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

Clustering side of the software can be very tedious to set up, and we've instead gone with a Master-Slave-Slave setup to ensure integrity

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

Run, don't walk, to this solution. Very easy to deploy, very easy to administer, blazing speed, and safeguards to ensure data integrity are all key reasons to choose this over the competition.

I find it confusing that some features only exist in MySQL vs MariaDB, as it makes the decision to use it difficult if you ever wish to migrate between the pieces of software.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

You do not really need to worry much about compatibility issues if you are already using MySQL.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this for our internal databases (intranet) in order to run certain pieces of open source software which require a database.

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

Great open source DB with plenty of documentation. We use MariaDB exclusively for all our web projects. It uses mainly standard SQL statements, is easy to install, configure, and is well supported in terms of security updates. The price is also great (ie, free!).

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

There isn't much although if I had to say one thing it would for a better GUI interface to view/edit/delete data. MySQLAdmin could use an interface update,

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

Highly recommended open source, scalable database. It uses mainly standard SQL statements, is easy to install, configure, and is well supported in terms of security updates. The price is also great (ie, free!).

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use MariaDB exclusively as the data store to all of our web/CMS projects. It is relatively stable and easy to set up. It uses mainly standard SQL statements, is easy to install, configure, and is well supported in terms of security updates. Can't be the cost (free) of this product!!!

The commitment to open source model and th continued development of innovative features and integrations. The Galera synchronous cluster and Node.js MariaDB Connector are two recent ones that come to mind.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

I wish they would finish the Aria DB engines features to make it on par with the InnoDB engine. I wish they would incorporate either the MyDumper or mysqlpump parallel backup tools.

**Recommendations to others considering MariaDB:**

If you have a need of MySQL compatible DB server, I would highly recommend using MariaDB for stability as well as range of features and integrations.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are several different products and professional sites in use that utilize MariaDB. DB performance is a definite benefit. Many application cross compatibility is another.

  ### 49. Perfect SQL database to store OpenStack information.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jose Antonio A. | BDM, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2018

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

Since MariaDB is a fork of MySQL, the database structure and indexes of MariaDB are the same as MySQL. This allows you to switch from MySQL to MariaDB without having to alter your applications since the data and data structures will not need to change.

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

To make sure MariaDB maintains drop-in compatibility, the MariaDB developers do a monthly merge of the MariaDB code with the MySQL code. Even with this, there are some differences between MariaDB and MySQL that could cause some minor compatibility issues.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used MariaDB for my OpenStack deployment. I scheduled inventory backups, via a scheduler (i.e cron) to run the appropriate commands to perform regular snapshots of my data.

  ### 50. Good solid open source DB

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2019

**What do you like best about MariaDB?**

I have been using maradb for over 5 years it hosts various websites and mail servers that I run. I really like how reliable it is. It is also very easy to use. I have used a lot of databases and i feel that this one is by far the most reliable. Install it setup your schema and away it goes!

**What do you dislike about MariaDB?**

There really isn't much to not like, but if i had to be picky it would be connecting it to a mail server. If you are a newbie then you will really need to read into how to use the DB, although once you have done this once you won't forget it.

**What problems is MariaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By putting a database like this into your environment you will soon realise just how reliable and solid this is
