The price point is attractive, especially compared to similar tools like Scribe. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Unfortunately, the video recording feature was unreliable for our team, particularly on Mac. The software repeatedly crashed during recording, and when recordings did complete, the audio was not captured even though the proper microphone and video permissions were enabled.
We had more than one team member test the platform and received similar feedback, so this did not appear to be an isolated issue with one user or one setup. For shorter processes, the step-by-step guide feature was usable, but for longer training content we needed dependable video recording, and MagicHow ultimately wasn’t reliable enough for that use case.
We contacted support and explained the issues in detail, but their initial response suggested that we probably had not enabled the required audio permissions, even though we had already confirmed that those settings were correct. They offered a troubleshooting call, but after multiple failed attempts, crashes, and testing by different team members, we did not feel it made sense to invest additional time troubleshooting a product that had not worked as expected.
We requested a refund for the two months we paid for the service, totaling $40, due to the technical issues we experienced, but the request was declined based on their non-refundable subscription policy.
Overall, the lower price point was appealing, but the reliability issues and the way our concerns were handled made the experience disappointing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
