LucidLink has made collaborating across my small team extremely easy. I work in music and sharing Ableton sessions and other files has been a lot easier with LucidLink opposed to other cloud storage options. We were experiencing some issues with session files not populating properly when sharing zipped files across other platforms but with LucidLink we've been able to open sessions directly from a shared folder which has eliminated those issues. The only downside so far has been when working on a session within lucidlink, there's no indicator that a file or project is currently open on someones desktop, so we've encountered issues where someone opens a file or session thats currently being edited by someone else, and when either person saves, it overwrites what the other person is working on or adding to the project. We've navigated this by just labelling sessions that are being worked on, or dragging to our desktop then re-uploading an updated file, but it would be great if LucidLink had a feature to indicate if a session or file was open on a computer somewhere. Our team is able to collaborate by sharing files easier than any other system I've experienced. It acts just like any other folder on your computer and files can be opened, updated and shared without doing anything other than making sure they are in your LucidLink folder. We haven't needed any support beyond the initial setup because the software just works and when we first signed up, we got personal assistance to make sure everything was setup correctly. The only drawback I can think of is you have to have an internet connection and the faster the connection, the better the performance but it's hardly a problem in this age when there is good enough internet pretty much anywhere you would really need to use it. LucidLink Classic has proven to be a solid solution for managing working files, especially for our production and creative teams at Wieden+Kennedy. One of the platform's standout features is its seamless integration with Finder on macOS. This integration makes it incredibly easy to access, browse, and manage files as if they were locally stored, which is a major plus for our team working across multiple projects simultaneously. Additionally, the cloud-based nature of LucidLink allows for real-time collaboration, eliminating the need for complex file-sharing setups and ensuring that our team members are always working with the most up-to-date files.

Another major positive is the ease of implementation. LucidLink integrates smoothly with Okta and uses the SSO file space key, making setup quick and efficient. Despite the benefits, LucidLink does fall short in one key area: archiving. The platform lacks a clear or intuitive archiving workflow, which becomes problematic as files accumulate over time. Without an efficient way to archive or move older projects, we risk cluttering the workspace and losing the ability to easily access past files when needed. This has led to some inefficiency in managing storage, as we have to rely on manual systems to ensure older files are properly archived or cleaned up.

LucidLink’s cloud-based storage is fantastic for active file management, but it would greatly benefit from a more structured approach to archiving or automating this process. Additionally, while LucidLink does a great job of providing fast access to working files, the overall storage management could be more flexible, allowing teams to have more control over file organization and archiving.

Another significant downside is the confusing documentation. The rollout of the new version of LucidLink versus the classic version was not as clear as it could have been, making it difficult for teams to understand the changes and how to implement them correctly. The documentation could be more straightforward to help users better navigate the transition and ensure proper implementation across different versions of the platform. We are using LucidLink as our main IO platform for media and file sharing between our internal team members as well as with our external vendors.

It's so simple to use and their is so little admin required for setting up new crew/vendor personnel.

We simply create a new folder, add the user with appropriate permissions and we're away.

So far we haven't had any issues with access, or download speeds, even with very large transfer packages.

There is nothing in particular that we don't like about Lucid.

The most helpful thing about lucidlink is its ability to provide data access from anywhere worldwide without being slow. We can deploy lucidlink and stop worrying about how users across the globe are going to access the data. Accessing cloud data becomes as easy as mounting a drive on the client machine. For a beginner, it is a bit complex to work on lucidlink and get the most out of it. The process should be simplified for beginners by providing more documents and helping guide users, but I must say that things are moving in the right direction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use LucidLink every day, and have had minimal issues with it as far as downtime, crashing, etc. Customer service has been very helpful. When we first got the product, we had a lengthy and informative onboarding process, and it enabled us to really hit the ground running. We switched recently from Legacy to a Team account, and I don't think the upgrades to the UI necessarily helped the overall experience.

• They combined share links and review links, and in doing so, made it much more difficult to custom order clips.

• Things default to having "status" turned on and even if you turn it off and "set as default," that doesn't turn it off.

• I recently have been having latency issues and when I contacted customer support, they told me, "I can see that significant latency is often reported on the connection. LucidLink relies on fast internet speeds with low latency. Here you can find out more about the connection quality and its impact on LucidLink as well as practical advice on how to optimise the operational environment" (that's all verbatim from the email), but then they sent me a dead link. I’ve been using LucidLink since 2020 and can confidently say it’s been a game-changer for my remote editing workflow. From the very beginning, the support team has been incredible—responsive, helpful, and genuinely invested in solving any issues that pop up. I can upload footage quickly and the editor can start working on videos straight away. The pin folders allow everyone in the team to access files quickly and edit without lag. When the editor finishes the first cut, I can jump and review, no need to relink any media, and instantly make a few adjustments on the edit. So overall it's smooth, fast and easy to use. I like how it was easy to install, configure and use. My first experience with it was on someone else's project and I was very surprised at how easy and quick it was for me to install and get working. The configuration panel was, for me, very intuitive. They ofter have updates, which makes me believe that they are constantly making sure that it's stable. My second experience with it was for my own project. We had to scale big (100+TB) and I was very happy that on that scale, we had a customer satisfaction team that made the process very easy and smooth. What I "dislike" about LucidLink is the fact that it's a cloud based storage, meaning that you constantly stream your footage (Yes you can cache) and if the software is not mounted, you can't access that data, even if it's cache.
