"Linux Mint"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Linux Mint?

It's quick, it's intuitive, uncluttered, and simple, and unlike Windows, it isn't enormous. I like the stripped down aspects of Linux because the less crap there is to deal with, the less can go wrong. Unlike Windows, which crashes and requires constant pampering, Linux is solid and dependable, and it boots up in seconds even on older home laptops, unlike Windows, which seems to take forever to boot up after the first two years, assuming you can stand using it for that long. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Linux Mint?

There's not much I dislike, but people less familiar with Linux have trouble with the command window and stripped down GUI, and claim they can't use certain software with it when in most cases, they just don't know how. It can be tricky for people who have been trapped on Windows or IOS forever, but ultimately, it's a cleaner, quicker, less invasive OS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Linux Mint?

It is one best linux distros to start exploring linux environment. If you are switching from Windows OS, you might find it very easy to start. The UI is similar to windows, which is a good thing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Linux Mint?

My favorite linux distro is Ubuntu so I all ways compare every linux distro I use. The same goes with Linux Mint. First of all, in terms of animations and ui Linux Mint lags behind Ubuntu. But you can always customize your linux mint the way you want, Thats the beauty of Linux.

Secondly, If you are making the transition from windows,it will be slightly difficult to start with the command line. But thats not a bad thing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Linux Mint is the perfect alternative OS to Windows"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Linux Mint?

Mint was designed as a desktop environment as an analog to MS Windows. Much of the user interface was put together with that in mind. Previous windows users will find a transition from Windows to Mint to be pretty intuitive and user friendly. The installation processes walks you right through and being linux, it runs fantastically on machines with older hardware. It's a great way to give some additional life to your machine.

Being Linux, Mint still has all the supreme functionality, security and performance that you would expect from Linux. You just get it in a prettier package.

The software is opensource and free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Linux Mint?

The real downside is that to get the most of it you'll want to learn to use the Linux command line. Most everything the average user would want is in the User Interface somewhere, but Linux often requires the install or configuration of things that are better done through a terminal window.

I personally don't see that as a downside, but trying to get my wife or grandma to do it is another story.

Aside from that, there is basically no product support. In general you are on your own to search the web and solve problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Mint and simplifying Linux"
4/5
What do you like best about Linux Mint?

My favorite part about Linux mint is that it takes the effort to make the system more approachable, taking into consideration that the average user is most familiar with windows. I also have to appreciate that it is open source, and also provides one of the best software managers Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Linux Mint?

The most notable disadvantages are its lack of a device manager, its tendency to not keep up with new technologies and implementations and that even if it is based on Ubuntu, it doesn't keep up with its latest updates and being so different makes it so that not everything that works in one may work in the other Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Mint is the best distro for linux"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Linux Mint?

Linux mint is a light distro on Linux and provides everything you need from an operating system. Linux mint has a software app store from which you can download the tools or software required and also provides some essential apps inbuilt like music and video player, text editor, system diagnostics tools, etc etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Linux Mint?

While Linux mint is great for day-to-day use, the primary thing that I dislike about mint is that the UI for Bluetooth devices is not that great, and you have to use the terminal every time you want to connect to Bluetooth devices which can be troublesome to non linux users.
