**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tomas R. | Public Service Assintant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Linux Mint?**

This operating system is a Linux distribution that comes directly from Ubuntu; this allows Linx Mint to have access to the same repositories and to have compatibility that Ubuntu does not have with a lot of useful software in everyday life and the office. In turn, Linux Mint is immune to computer viruses; this does not mean that there may be malware that can affect it, but certainly, there are very few and most of those that are aimed at violating Windows. Anybody can use Linux Mint to clean removable storage memories or (if you share the hard drive with both operating systems) to get into the bowels of Windows and be able to see and touch the files that you cannot, when you are in it. Like all Linux, it has a version called "live cd" that allows you to experience it from any data storage unit without installing it. Finally, we can highlight a sober, friendly, and intuitive interface ideal for people with little experience handling Linux-based operating systems.

**What do you dislike about Linux Mint?**

Linux Mint does not highlight much the fact that because it is Linux, many people may have a wrong idea of what can be found and the usefulness it can have; if a person is resistant to change, it may not adapt to the operating system. It will bring you a problem of development in it. It is important to note that the use of Linux involves using the terminal quite frequently. It can be a bit uncomfortable for these types of users or new users, no matter how available they are to learn.

**Recommendations to others considering Linux Mint:**

An operating system that, once you use it, will be among those that you have enjoyed the most and that you will always want to use. Linux Mint is a treasure that many people must discover. I recommend it.

**What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Linux Mint means security guarantee from many points of view; at work, it has helped me protect documents and files with sensitive and essential information. It has also been ideal in server management, thanks to its robust firewall.

  ### 20. Security guarantee on your computer.

- It has a large amount of documentation on the internet; this is because it has its roots in Ubuntu, and this is one of the most used Linux distributions worldwide.

**What do you dislike about Linux Mint?**

I wouldn't say I like Linux Mint:
- Of the number of quality games on the market, I have not found the first one compatible with Linux Mint, not even using tools like Wine, which helps you emulate Windows on Linux and run those programs.
- The use of the terminal. The console is used more frequently than in Windows. It is something that not all users are willing to do.

**Recommendations to others considering Linux Mint:**

I highly recommend it. Linux Mint is an operating system that gives you security and control over your computer. It is ideal for managing servers; its strength is security.

**What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Linux Mint has helped me to be able to provide security at my worksites. It is immune to Windows viruses and can clean and extract malicious files from removable memories. Similarly, its robust configuration ensures that it is an operating system that is very difficult to access by force; it has very few vulnerabilities. This aspect is the most beneficial and essential in your workplace.

**What do you like best about Linux Mint?**

What I like the most about Linux Mint is:

- It is a very efficient operating system. It means that the hardware resources that you have in your computer will be used with total effectiveness and efficiency, giving assurance to the user that their experience will be excellent and with the correct consumption of resources.

**What do you dislike about Linux Mint?**

What I don't like so much about Linux Mint is that I have to use the terminal a lot. I am not a user who is comfortable with using commands. As an end-user, it is a point that I must highlight as a negative. The rest of Linux Mint is a sober, efficient operating system with many advantages.

**Recommendations to others considering Linux Mint:**

I recommend it. Be it for use in the office, at home, for servers, for whatever. Linux Mint adapts to the task you give it without complications and cleanly and efficiently.

**What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonnatan D. | Marketing Advisor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Linux Mint?**

From Linux Mint I like:
- It's free software. That feeling of freedom to manage your operating system at will is indescribable.
- It can be obtained free of charge, which implies a zero cost in implementing the operating system.
- You may install Linux Mint with Windows. It guarantees a due process of adaptation of one system concerning another.
- It has a friendly and intuitive interface. If you are a beginner in handling Linux, you will not suffer much to adapt.
- Access to Ubuntu repositories allows you to enjoy the compatibility and the different tools available for it.
- It is safe. It has security protocols that guarantee protection 24 hours a day.
- It is robust and efficient. Make the proper use of the physical components of your computer.
- You do not suffer from computer viruses intended to attack Windows.

**What do you dislike about Linux Mint?**

I wouldn't say I like Linux Mint:
- The use of the command terminal is widespread. Although it has to do with security reasons, for a person who is adapting to the change from windows, it is somewhat uncomfortable to use the command window.
- There are a few (or no existence) of good quality games for Linux Mint and, in general, for Linux.

**Recommendations to others considering Linux Mint:**

I recommended it. It doesn't matter if you are a new user or if you have Linux experience. You are going to have a good time exploring and using this operating system in your day-to-day life.

**What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Linux Mint has helped me in my work to protect important company information. It is very important to say that the version of Live CD that all Linux SO has (and Linux Mint has by default) since this can be useful to explore a Hard Drive with a damaged operating system and back up the information that you want to recover without any problem. This advantage, above all, has been the most useful in my professional work.

  ### 24. I went headlong to using Linux.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Russel B. | Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Linux Mint?**

In Linux Mint highlights:
- Its friendly, intuitive and simple interface. If you are a user who is coming from Windows, you will not notice much difference.
- The quantity and variety of programs that you can access for free in the repository, all this, thanks to the fact that Linux Mint is the son of Ubuntu and inherits all the advantages and compatible software.
- Your safety. This is a strong point in the vast majority of Linux distributions and it would be unfair not to highlight them in this review. Linux Mint guarantees you security and integrity in the information that you have in its custody.
- It is robust and efficient. Use each of your computer's resources fairly. Then, it has versions that adapt to the hardware you have, if your computer is not the latest technology.

**What do you dislike about Linux Mint?**

In Linux Mint it does not stand out:
- Very frequent use of the terminal. Not everyone is willing to use the operating system console, although it is certainly something that has been improved over time and Linux enjoys its own version of executable files.
- If you are the type of user who likes to use the computer to play games, this is not your operating system. There is very little compatibility with the most common computer games on the market, it does not matter if you want to emulate it with Wine, I guarantee that it will not be the same.

**Recommendations to others considering Linux Mint:**

Recommended! This Linux distribution is like a smooth ride. Colorful, robust, efficient and safe. Everything you hope to get your hands on when you want to use a computer. It is ideal for the office and also for the home.

**What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Linux Mint has helped me establish security measures in the company. Starting with the administration and management of servers, ideal for the security of the protected data, going through the fact that you are virus-free, since it is immune to the malware that exists for Windows. You really feel safe at the level of data backups and attempted attacks.

**What do you like best about Linux Mint?**

I really like linux mint:
- The philosophy of Free Software. It allows you to have freedoms that other software does not.
- It is free of computer viruses. Most computer viruses are for Windows, with Linux Mint that goes down in history.
- It has a friendly interface, very similar to Windows. If you come from there, the transition will be very comfortable and easy.
- It is efficient in managing the resources you have on your computer. It doesn't matter if your computer isn't state of the art; it is assumed that there will be an excellent use of resources.

**What do you dislike about Linux Mint?**

What I don't like about Linux Mint is:
- It is incompatible with most of the games available for Windows. If as a user you are one of those people who like to play on the computer, Linux Mint is not the operating system for that. And it doesn't matter if you use emulators like wine, it won't be the same and it will generate errors. So better not even think about playing if you want to enter the world of Linux Mint.

**Recommendations to others considering Linux Mint:**

100% recommended. Only if you are a person who is a fan of games, you can make the exception of having two operating systems on your hard drive, so the transition from windows to Linux Mint will be easier.

**What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped me in the work I have had to recover files (when using live mode) and to manage the servers of my workplaces very efficiently and safely.

**What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- I was considering spending INR 10000 on a Windows 10 home edition for a 5-year-old Dell notebook but after trying Linux Mint, I was able to get all things done whatever I could accomplish using Windows which I got for free basically.
- Lots of applications.

  ### 31. I like Linux Mint for dedicated workstations and it's an easy to use Linux distribution.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Timothy O. | Configuration Engineer III, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Linux Mint?**

I use it for dedicated workstations as the host for virtual machines using Virtualbox. It's free, runs Virtualbox, and is customizable. I still prefer Windows 10 as a personal desktop operating system.

**What do you dislike about Linux Mint?**

It's okay for what I'm using. For a personal computer, I would miss the support for many applications I prefer, especially games.

A list of what I like the most:
- It's Free Software, I can take all the advantages that it has..
- Virus free, it makes me prefer Linux than Windows.
- It is easy to use, thanks to its friendly and intuitive graphical interface.
- It is very easy to install.
- It has different options to get the best performance out of the Hardware resources you have in your computer.
- It contains robust security protocols, which allows it to be used on servers where sensitive information is stored.
- Coming from Ubuntu, you can use its repositories, which implies that there is a large amount of software compatible with it.

**What do you dislike about Linux Mint?**

List of what I don't like:
- In my free time I like to play on the computer. This detail makes Linux Mint not my main choice, since there are few games compatible with this operating system.
- I must use the terminal more than I would like, in this case, I prefer Windows.

**Recommendations to others considering Linux Mint:**

If you are looking to make a transition from proprietary software to free software, this is the ideal operating system ... Even if you are already part of the Free Software community and what you are looking for is a sober distribution, with a nice graphical interface and that is efficient and efficient in their tasks.

**What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Linux Mint has helped me protect the servers in the company I used to work for. Being virus-free, this operating system is ideal for managing servers.

  ### 35. Linux Mint to make the move to Free Software without any complications.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Larry C. | Webmaster, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Linux Mint?**

What I like most about Linux Mint, among its countless virtues is that it is a robust operating system (and why not? If it is "son" of Ubuntu) with different characteristics that guarantee the end user a very familiar experience, intuitive and with very few complications. You can choose between different graphical environments adjusted to the resources you have on your personal computer. Periodically upgradeable (only if you wish) this operating system has a large number of applications in its repository that will make you forget other proprietary operating systems faster than you might believe. It has a good support and also has a very large community on the Internet with great documentation. Another detail to highlight is that it is virus-free ... Or rather, it is not the target of attacks like other more famous operating systems. This allows you to carry out your tasks in a reliable and safe environment.

**What do you dislike about Linux Mint?**

Two details are notable as defects:
1- Incompatibility with most of the most famous games that work on Windows. If your goal is to have a computer to dedicate to games, Linux Mint is not what you are looking for.
2- The console (terminal) is still used too much in Linux Mint. Although it is (in part) for security reasons, it is surprising how easily programs are installed on operating systems such as Windows.

**Recommendations to others considering Linux Mint:**

My main recommendation (especially for those who are thinking of changing from Windows to Linux) is that they have both operating systems installed. If this is really your main goal, a bit of Windows will always be necessary, then it is better to manage the two operating systems on the same machine and access them as the moment requires.

**What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Linux Mint has helped me to manage servers in my work with greater security. By having a fairly robust firewall, which is a guarantee of security and being "immune" to windows viruses, it is ideal for jobs like this.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Răzvan T. C. | Psychologist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Linux Mint?**

LinuxMint is Debian-based, so it can run most Debian and Ubuntu software packages. It's super-fast. I install it on single-core computers or old reconditioned PCs and laptops because it boots really fast on them and the setup takes just a few clicks. It's always mantained and updated and everything works well out of the box. It also includes audio and video drivers so media will play out of the box.

**What do you dislike about Linux Mint?**

The latest ISO sizes are bigger and bigger. LinuxMint used to be very lightweight. Newer versions stopped supporting the x86-32 architecture.

**What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I recondition old PCs for kids that can't afford them and I always install LinuxMint on them. It's fast and the installation takes just a bit.

  ### 42. An operating system from another world

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Linux Mint?**

Linux mint seems to come from another world. It is an operating system that meets your needs efficiently and without many complications. It has a graphical environment very similar to Windows, which facilitates the migration process. It is ideal for anyone who wants a change of scene and start in the world of free software. It has a huge amount of free software available to be installed, generating almost no compatibility problems. The best thing is that it takes into account users with computers with low technological resources. It is also safe and robust. An experience from another world.

**What do you dislike about Linux Mint?**

In general terms, Linux Mint inherits the biggest flaw and to some extent responsible for the use of any linux distribution not being as widely used and that is the compatibility with games. It is an area in which they must improve. I keep starting my computer in Windows if I want to play, even though I don't want to.

**Recommendations to others considering Linux Mint:**

Keep going like this. You're in a good direction!

**What problems is Linux Mint solving and how is that benefiting you?**
