Having used Excel for many years, I was surprised by how much I enjoy working with LibreOffice Calc. When it comes to handling CSV files, Calc has become my preferred tool. Opening a CSV in Calc is straightforward—it immediately presents clear options so I can select the correct settings, and the data always appears properly formatted. I still rely on Excel for most of my regular spreadsheet tasks, mainly out of habit and because I'm most comfortable with its advanced features and handling of complex formulas. Out of all the LibreOffice tools, I use Calc the most as I find it more to my liking compared to Google Sheets (which we use for collaborative work). I still find offline apps to be more reliable and snappy compared to web apps like GSuite. Libre Calc still covers all the bases for me, mostly databases related work... did I mention it's Free?? * I can import Excel spreadsheets before some of my colleagues can read them, because LibreOffice Calc is updated quickly and automatically after every MS Office file format update.

* Excel may be impacted by viruses in its scripts, but LibreOffice Calc does not use the same script language, so the viruses are not a danger.

The software is free and works well on Ubuntu, and is usually able to open Excel documents without too many issues. All the functionalities are very useful and the program works flawlessly, at least on my Windows system. I have to say that what I like the most is that this is a free-to-use tool, but it is not bad for that. The function system works in a similar way to Excel.
