# What oil and gas back office solutions handle complex joint interest accounting and revenue distribution well?

Joint interest accounting and revenue distribution get exponentially harder as more working interest partners and properties enter the picture, so I focused on what Oil and Gas Back Office reviewers actually credit with handling that complexity. Petrofly, Pandell PetroNet, and Total Asset Manager came up the most.

Petrofly: The most directly relevant in the group, reviewers repeatedly describe it as specifically handling joint interest billing and royalty distribution. One reviewer called it the best accounting software they'd found for both bookkeeping and royalty/JIB prep after first trying QuickBooks and another oil and gas tool.

Pandell PetroNet: Reviewers highlight contract-based sale splits and reporting that drill down to the well and partner levels, useful when revenue needs to be distributed across multiple working-interest owners.

Total Asset Manager: Consolidates accounting, economics, and production data into a single warehouse, reducing the cross-referencing and complex distribution usually required.

Enverus OpenInvoice: Less about distribution directly, but reviewers note it catches invoice errors before finalization, relevant since bad invoice data would otherwise cascade into a distribution calculation.

For operators distributing revenue among a large number of working-interest owners on the same property, does Petrofly's JIB-first design hold up as complexity grows, or does it scale better on a broader platform like Total Asset Manager?

Enverus OpenInvoice's role here points at something worth separating from the distribution question itself: JIB and revenue-split calculations are only as accurate as the invoice data feeding them, and none of the distribution-focused tools can catch a bad invoice that already got approved upstream. A platform can have flawless well-and-partner-level distribution logic and still produce a wrong number for every working-interest owner on that property if the input invoice was wrong to begin with, which means the actual point of failure in a complex JIB scenario might sit earlier in the pipeline than the distribution engine itself.
