Leapfrog Geo is extremely useful for understanding underground geological structures, such as faults and contamination plumes, without relying on unnecessary drilling. By importing well data, the software can quickly generate accurate 3D models of the rock and soil layers beneath the surface. That makes it much easier to pinpoint the best locations for drill rigs, rather than depending on rough estimates or trial and error. The visualizations are clear and easy to interpret, which helps us plan projects with greater confidence and efficiency. One drawback of Leapfrog Geo is that transferring data to other software can be inconvenient, since it supports only a limited range of export formats. Because of this, I often have to manually convert files before I can continue my workflow, which adds extra time and effort. The import and export process would benefit from being more flexible and user-friendly, especially to improve compatibility with other applications. Additionally, the software occasionally slows down when loading larger datasets, particularly on less powerful systems. When I used to work for SRK consulting as a Geotechnical Engineer then I used this product it saved our huge amount of time like it automatically generated 3d geological models from drill hole data. it helped us in decision making like where to drill next or how to design a mine safely. it helped us in improving accuracy. its user interface is really good . I like being able to visualize data in 3D, with faster views than most competitors and better visibility with transparency and shaders. Most estimation and modelling processes are faster than with other software I’ve used. I can review projects quickly, generate concept models, create fit-for-purpose models that meet industry standards, and set up easy-to-use block models and estimators. I find sectional views for displaying multiple elements lackluster compared with Micromine, especially when I want to visualize five different elements in a section. The text options in 3D and sectional views also need improvement; I’d like to be able to select the font and text placement. I’d like more estimation methods, such as UC/LUC, and advanced parameters like slope of Z/Z*, which aren’t available and would enable UC/LUC. I find the user interface pretty easy, and the GUI is very interactive and easy to use. The error messages and bug reports are easy to understand, and they show me where to correct my data when working on stratification so I can prepare a geotechnical model without errors. I find the geological model and export tools useful, especially for exporting my Leapfrog Geo model to Plaxis 3D for cross-software support. I had trouble with stratification when younger and older layers, or the same layer appearing below, got mixed up and Leapfrog Geo interpreted them incorrectly. I had to process the data again and plan in 2D from the beginning to get proper stratification in 3D. I’d like to be able to adjust the later layers within the software without changing the geological model much, so I don’t have to redo those steps. I like the integrated nature of wireframing and resource estimation in Leapfrog Geo. It's also really useful that projects can be centrally shared, allowing anyone to publish projects that other geoscientists can use. The implicit modeling engine based on radial basis functions (RBF) creates complex 3D wireframe models within seconds of loading drillhole assays. Dynamic links automatically recalculate geological domain contacts on the fly with the addition of new field team directional survey coordinates. The orientation disks are processed with ease by structural data tools which are used to define realistic fault network cutting relationships across large deposits. For me Leapfrog is the most geologist-friendly software. Its implicit and dynamic modeling allow us to model with confidence without spending countless hours manually digitizing cross-sections. The dynamic updating feature is a massive time-saver; as soon as new wellsite logging or drillhole data comes in from the field, the model updates automatically. This is absolutely critical during active exploration programs. Furthermore, the 3D visualization capabilities (UI/UX) are top-notch, making it incredibly easy to communicate complex geological structures and resource boundaries to stakeholders. leapfrog Geo is not built for mine planning or mine design. It currently lacks the dedicated engineering modules I would need for pit optimization, scheduling, or drill and blast design. My team and I have to rely heavily on its integrations to export the geological block models into other dedicated mining engineering software. What I like best about Leapfrog Geo is how efficiently it handles building and managing complex 3D geological models. Working as a resource geologist, the dynamic modeling capability is a massive upside for my daily workflow. Instead of manually rebuilding wireframes from scratch, the models update dynamically as soon as new drillhole data is added, saving hours of work. While Leapfrog Geo is excellent for rapid 3D modeling, one area that could be improved is its integration with external machine learning workflows and custom Python scripts. Because I frequently use Python to run advanced algorithms like Random Forest and XGBoost on mineralogical datasets, transferring data and results seamlessly back and forth between these custom scripts and the Leapfrog environment can sometimes feel cumbersome. Expanding its native API or Python integration capabilities would be a massive help for advanced data analysis.
