The biggest benefit is its ability to quickly go from raw geology data to understandable 3D models. It's simple to bring drillhole data in, and the models update quickly as you get new data. It's easy to view what is going on and check your work and have conversations with the team, has removed a lot of manual work and kept the workflow clean.

The first couple of weeks may seem intimidating as there's lots of software and options to remember. A few key tools are less obvious, and larger tasks may be more processor intensive and take time to generate on smaller machines.

Modeling flexibility is the strongest part of this tool for me. I can test several interpretation approaches on the same dataset without committing early, which is exactly what modeling work should allow. **What do you like best about Leapfrog Geo?**

I'm almost exclusively use Leapfrog Geo for my job, I've had to train junior geologist on how to use it; what I enjoy the most about it is how intuitive the software is, once the user understands the basics of the software they can pretty much use it by themselves. Another thing is the available help and training online, I feel like leapfrog is one of the few software where the help bottom actually helps you understand all the possibilities with that tool and the online courses are phenomenal.

**What do you dislike about Leapfrog Geo?**

The base leapfrog geo program is not as open as other software on integrations and compatibly, some times it feels like some processes can be a little over complicated.

**What problems is Leapfrog Geo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Geo modeling has never been so easy! Data visualization is unlike any other software, geologic data can really be explained, presented, and used to solve everyday problems in a mining environment.

**What do you like best about Leapfrog Geo?**

Mainly this program helps us map out the under ground things such as faults and where contamination plumes are located therefore we don’t have to drill blindly. You put the well data in and it creates a 3d model of the rocks & soil beneath. It helps us determine exactly where to place our drill rigs without guessing and i am glad that it didn’t break my laptop while running it.

**What do you dislike about Leapfrog Geo?**

Honestly transferring data from Leapfrog Geo to other programs is a huge headache. They only allow certain formats to be exported from the program, so ultimately I end up manually converting the files and it takes way too much time. This guy sitting next to me has music playing loudly on his phone and it's killing me, but yes, the software could improve upon their loading data interface. It occasionally lags.

It's really cool that the three dimensional visualization is reasonably fast when I import the subsurface models into LeapFrog Geo; as far as I know it doesn't freeze my computer either. Anyway, It does render the fault framework and drill hole data quickly so I don't have to wait for hours to visualize the underground structure.

What I like most about Leapfrog Geo is how quickly you can iterate a model. I can change a few data points or add new drill holes, and the model updates without having to rebuild sessions by hand. The interface for handling old data, light faults, and veins is genuinely well thought out for geologists, rather than feeling like generic CAD software. It also integrates well with other tools in the workflow, allowing us to export models into resource estimation and maintenance software without much hassle.

What I don't like is that performance can slow down noticeably on larger, more complex models, especially with dense drill hole datasets or a lot of structural events. **What do you like best about Leapfrog Geo?**

Leapfrog geo is an extremely intuitive and powerful software. Its ability to utilize various forms of geological data and put it at your finger tips to both implicitly and explicitly model with ease is amazing. I have almost never had a crash and the fact it saves your projects as you go without fail is a life saver. The support offered by Seequent is also top tier when i have questions or issues. It is also my go to tool for DDH database QAQC.

**What do you dislike about Leapfrog Geo?**

Though most of its tools are excellent, its section making features are a bit rigid and lacking. allowing more customization on what is displayed on a section or how title blocks are designed would be nice.

**What problems is Leapfrog Geo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software is supported and updated on a fairly regular basis, and most new releases are stable. They have added some good quality of life features over time.

**What do you like best about Leapfrog Geo?**

The implicit modeling and the dynamic updating of the calculations are very useful. I also appreciate the selection options, especially the interval selection tool. The interoperability of the software is limited (no possibility to add tools for specific calculation or data transfert. Nevertheless the only thing I was able to do is to connect a database in a server via ODBC connexion . The annual price for this solution is very high with an annual increase and no possibility of negociation. I would say it is the negative aspect of this solution. On the other side, the support is very pro active, so quite positive even if sometimes the responses are very limited and short.

**What do you dislike about Leapfrog Geo?**

Low-level statistical tool for EDA (declustering?, twinholes identifications, )The model calculations take a long time and are tied to a specific table. If that table is removed, the 3D model is deleted as well. We're we can just replace the table and recalculate the model without having to re create the model

It generate good closed 3D volumes that can be exported to other software without anomalies. (Like open volumes)

Our raw measurements of the structure generate accurate mineralized models using the contact surface generator. Even complex fault block movements are automatically taken care of by the volumetric interpolation tools during active drilling.

The explicit wireframing workspace breaks if a large number of overlapping grade shells are used. Large block model evaluations when performing a critical rendering drop are attributed to the local machine memory requirements.

I really like how the user interface is very easy to use and intuitive. It helps me a lot with doing structural interpretations and visualizing datasets, making it really easy to look at different models. The ease of making cross sections and different interpolations for block models is something I really appreciate. The interface makes it very easy to achieve this without having to read all the documentation. The keyboard shortcuts and everything just make it very easy to use.

I'd like to have a bit more options when making structural trends, like changing the colors and legends. It could be easier for data handling too, instead of having to do everything on Excel and import/export. It'd be nice to change data in the tables directly in Leapfrog Geo.

It handles drilling data, fault interpretations, and formation properties seamlessly, saving us countless hours of manual work. The software is incredibly stable even with large datasets, so we don’t experience frequent crashes or slow recalculations. The visualization is clear and intuitive, allowing our engineers, project managers, and external regulators to understand subsurface conditions without needing advanced geological training. This feature helps align our teams and speeds up decision-making. I also find its strong modeling logic for fault networks and reservoir structures critical for accurately locating geothermal reservoirs. The results are consistent and auditable, making it much easier to justify well placements, secure permits, and present findings to stakeholders.

One pain point is handling large-scale seismic data integration. Importing and processing dense seismic datasets can be slow and resource-heavy, often requiring significant computing power and causing delays when we’re working on deep regional models. More optimized handling of seismic data would speed up our modeling cycle considerably. We also find the automated reservoir volume and permeability calculations less flexible than we’d like. For geothermal projects specifically, we often need to adjust parameters to match local thermal and hydrogeological conditions, but the software doesn’t offer as many customizable templates for energy-focused analysis as we would prefer. One thing I’d really like to see improved is better native integration with industry-standard energy software we use daily in Lower Bavaria, such as Petrel, ArcGIS Pro, and SQL-based well databases. Right now, moving data between platforms often involves manual exports, conversions, or cleanup, which adds unnecessary work and introduces small errors. It would also be extremely helpful to have pre-built templates specifically for geothermal and deep groundwater projects, not just mining or conventional oil and gas. Things like thermal gradient modeling, heat reservoir estimation, and regional fault analysis for geothermal could be more automated out of the box. Another suggestion is enhanced reporting tools designed for German regulatory submissions. Bavarian energy authorities require very specific formatting and documentation, and having customizable, compliant report templates would save our team hours each week.

My only "but" is related to the use of the license. When paying for a 24-hour license, one should be able to pause the usage time, not have it be 24 consecutive hours, as it is very costly that way. Sometimes there are projects where one has to work a few hours a day, then another day, and thus it becomes impossible to pay for the license without skyrocketing costs.

You can do a lot of problem-solving by using them in novel approaches, like looking at intersections or unions of things in space or building combined models. This helps in understanding how infrastructure interacts with geology in a given space. Also, the setup was pretty easy for me, especially as I've been using it for around eight years, and it's improved a lot.

I think the cross sections and plan reviewing tool are effective, but there's room for improvement. I'd like more versatility to make report-ready products. **What do you like best about Leapfrog Geo?**

My favorite feature of Leapfrog Geo is the speed at which it allows me to construct 3D geological models using the information of the drilling. Frequency of use and performance are high because as a resource geologist in mining I make use of it on a regular basis. The implicit modeling features and block model generation features allow me to explore various geological interpretations without necessarily beginning at the beginning. I also relate it to GIS platforms and mine planning systems, which ensure that our exploration and production teams are on track.

**What do you dislike about Leapfrog Geo?**

A weakness is that, the hardware specifications are a challenge, particularly dealing with large drillhole data. It required the upgrade of a number of workstations during implementation making it more expensive. The higher level functions cannot be easily understood and novice geologists would require time before they are sure they can make good use of the available features. Models get heavy thus reducing the performance and this slows project updates. These problems occasionally slow down internal deadlines and put a strain at reporting periods.

**What problems is Leapfrog Geo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Leapfrog Geo addresses the issue of manual assemblages of geological models, based on drill data that is scattered in space. We were overly relying on the use of the static cross sections and spreadsheets before its use, increasing the interpretation in speed and consistency. I can now create dynamically created 3D models that can update as new data is inserted. This enhances the cooperation among the mine planning teams and geology, and minimizes miscommunications.

Large and complex problems can run slowly, and the output takes time to generate. The pricing and licensing can also feel restrictive for small teams. On top of that, some advanced features are a bit hard to understand, and support isn’t very helpful when it comes to more complex issues.

Leapfrog Geo is easy to learn and makes it possible to quickly create domains even from messy data. The software feels lightweight, and it's visually impressive, effectively visualizing data, which is really helpful. Cross sections are straightforward to produce, aiding in data communication. I find the user interface simple and easy to navigate. It's also nice to see that Leapfrog is used widely across the industry, providing a sense of consistency.

**What do you dislike about Leapfrog Geo?**

It feels very cumbersome and slow to plan drilling. Things that could help improve would be a grid on the plane. Being able to calculate average deviation across multiple holes. Be able to convert a DXF to planned drilling. One aspect, which I think has been updated with stereo nets is the volume filter. This is helpful but volume filters only filter for collar. This means a lot of data can only be filtered to the resolution of an entire hole. Be able to create two slices at the same time.

Leapfrog Geo makes it easy to create ore domains and drill targets with intuitive tools. It simplifies complex data management, offers excellent visualization capabilities, and has a user-friendly interface that enhances communication and navigation.

I find the software incredibly user friendly and easy to understand/use. I use it on a weekly - almost daily basis. I like that it makes my data very easy to visualise. It's also very easy to import data such as drilling/images etc. I also like the validation process when importing drilling databases, as this helps to identify mistakes/double ups in drilling data, especially historical - typically not validated data.

**What do you dislike about Leapfrog Geo?**

I find the cross section generation feature a little clunky and would prefer if there would be some way to better refine/create cross sections. I also have trouble with some meshes from other software programs, however this may also come from my lack of understanding.

**What problems is Leapfrog Geo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is generally helping me with my exploration work across various projects I am working on. It helps me focus on areas where data is missing as I handle quite a large number of historical data, where there are commonly lots of mistakes or missing data. I have been using it quite a lot recently to help m validate data/logging/drilling within my project areas.

The implicit workflows, and that my work is repeatable and auditable, and updates are easily incorporated.  I also like the flexibility in importing and integrating so many different data types.

There are some elements of the software that aren't fully developed and haven't been for years.  For example the structural tools are great at what they do, but you still can't group codes after merging tables of oriented data.

I can build any geological model I need, whether that be lith, alteration, structural or a some form of domain model.  I can do all my 3D modelling in one place and integrate with a wide range of tools like iogas to easily work with wider datasets.

I like that everything in Leapfrog Geo is very visual and easy to understand, which greatly aids in geological, structural, and statistical interpretation. The speed and visualization with which it works in 3D modeling is impressive, and furthermore, it is software that facilitates collaboration with auditing firms like AMC and SRK. The initial setup is very simple, as you don't need commands like in other software.

I have problems with triangulations, especially when they come from other software, which makes it necessary to frequently interact with other programs. File compatibility is very important.

It's also really useful that projects can be centrally shared, allowing anyone to publish projects that other geoscientists can use. The licensing system is quite complex. You need to have the Leapfrog license, a connector license, also a central seat. Which is confusing for new starters.

The geological modeling features, the digital block model, the statistical data calculations, as well as the layout options for reports and sections are particularly useful and well-developed.
