Sometimes the dashboard feels a little busy at first glance, so it took me a moment to figure out where everything lives. I like that there is the app, but most importantly there are humans behind the app that you can interact with to ask questions, get clarification, etc. I like that someone is paying attention in the background. We were with a competitor before and they basically deserted us after the onboarding process. But at Kintsugi, they are there through the whole process. Kintsugi’s intuitive interface is informative but simple and easy to navigate. We had a single, live human onboard us (shout out to Jonathan!) and he was smart, friendly, and responsive. That process was mostly smooth, and the platform’s automation capabilities helped us streamline our workflows almost immediately. I especially appreciate how easy it is to integrate Kintsugi with our existing tools, which saves us tons of time and reducing manual work. I'm maybe a bit torn on the pricing model, because I love a flat rate - $75/filing - but kind of wish it was lower for states that require monthly filings instead of quarterly. The product approval model could use some work for special use cases like ours, BUT! Their support team offered to take over the lift while they do dev to improve it for us, which is amazing! Kintsugi has made handling sales tax so much easier. We used to work with an agency that did everything manually. We had no clarity on when states would be filed nor the ability to approve them on a state by state basis. We also had low visibility on nexus within states.

Kintsugi is the 2025 modern approach to sales tax and has made life a lot easier for a process (sales tax registration and filings) that sucks for everyone anyway.

Lack of customer service. Data wasn't showing properly (states being marked as exposed when we have no taxable products in the state) and I wasn't going to commit to a contract with them until they can solve the issue. They claimed to be working on it but never gave me an update after 1+ month and ignored my follow up email. Their ads keep showing up in my social media and kept reminding me about being ghosted. We launched kintsugi around the same time we launched new invoicing software and we had a lot of issues. It felt like the size of our organization was a learning curve for kintsugi. Things have much improved now that we have gotten over the hurdles from the beginning. What I like the most is that I don't have to worry about filing sale tax anymore. I didn't start a business to worry or learn about taxes, having Kintsugi taking care of that for me is priceless.

Unlike the previous vendor that we used for state tax filings, Kintsugi seems to actually care. They educate us when appropriate and this just functions like you hope a partnership would (does not feel like a vendor relationship). Nice dashboard that shows sales, tax exposure and tasks. Great to see everything visually there. Mail integration can be useful. Having their support when registering has been great and their team has been supportive and responsive. You get a lot without paying the high prices of other solutions. Lack of netsuite integration or ability to upload transactions manually. I understand the netsuite api is on the roadmap but it would be great to be able to quickly upload sales transactions via a csv or manually until that is ready instead of requesting the Kintsugi team to upload them.
