We have our share of repeat orders and JobBOSS makes it effortless. I also love the inventory part tracking and data collection. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** We struggle with identifyng where parts are physically in our shop. It seems like another software is required in order to link bin locations up with JobBOSS. **What problems is JobBOSS² solving and how is that benefiting you?** Data collection from the shop is critical, if personell is trained on this properly, JobBOSS can review and calculate your profit margins automatically. Just a few years ago, this was a manual process for us, moving forward we concentrate on putting good information into the software to let it work for us on the backend. You only get out of it what you put into it. It has saved our company hundreds of manhours reviewing jobs manually. ### 2. JobBoss2 is integral to the way we do business and we wouldn't be where we are today without them. The system can handle micro businesses with ease, but also grows with you. Everytime we need something more (like moving to the cloud) JobBoss2 is right there with the next evolution of thier product. There is not a single person in our shop that doesnt know or interact with it on a daily basis, and JobBoss2 makes it easy for them to do so. Highly recommend! **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** JobBoss2 is so capable and flexible that it can be hard to determine the best way to tailor it to your shop. So far we have not found anything it can't do, we just have to decide which way WE want to do it. It has lead to a couple false starts over the years when implementing new ideas. But we do appriate that we can utilize it how it works best for us, so I don't think this as much a reflection on the platform as it us. **What problems is JobBOSS² solving and how is that benefiting you?** We did not have a shop management system before implementing this product. It handled quoting, material managment, accounting, QA and scheduling. ### 3. Currently working on getting the job grouping utility in place to do more with E2 **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** I don't like the price point on the job group utility. Although, we are working with E2 in getting the cost down, I don't think it's fair to other small businesses like ours, to charge so much for something that should be standard practice and integrated into the system for powder coaters or other mfgs that need that function. Now we have years of E2 experience and none with the utility. It's been tricky. **What problems is JobBOSS² solving and how is that benefiting you?** Problem - not know how much time it takes to do 1 part start to finish. Solution - time tracking tablets at every station, quoting has become more accurate, we know exactly how long 1 part takes from start to finish. ### 4. As an example, creating a PO to recieving purchased items in, the paths are very similar and easy to use. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** We have struggled with technical support in the past, When we implemented the scheduling system, The trainers knowledge between several people ranged from very knowledgable to a person that seemed lost when we asked them questions. **What problems is JobBOSS² solving and how is that benefiting you?** It enabled us to put all business functions in one ERP system, Accounting, purchasing,quality, scheduling, etc. ### 7. So if you have any issue or need something, expect to pay big $$. 10k for us has turned into well over $40k and purchasing and scheduling still don't work. They admit it doesn't work but not sure how to fix. Once a packing list is made the job is closed, so if you need to redo a job or reprint the packing list, you need to do 4 steps to undo and 4 steps to redo. Something as simple as a packing list shouldn't be so involved and time consuming. Program is very slow. So slow you click an icon again not realizing your first request is still be processed. The built-in reports are more than sufficient for managing even a mid-sized organization without the need for additional software. Additional customization can be done if more complexity is required, either by contacting ECI or doing them in-house. ShopBOSS add-on makes scheduling a breeze. Native integration with UniPoint allows us to include our quality department software right in the ERP. JobBOSS has a ton of potential as a central ERP system for most any manufacturing business. Integrating JobBOSS into custom self-built or third-party applications is also straightforward. Getting data in or out of the system is very simple for bulk actions like price updates. The interoperability of the software was a huge selling point for my company. There is a place to submit feature suggestions, and I've both used it and had features implemented. They're a very responsive company and a pleasure to work with. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** Some of the math used when calculating raw material requirements isn't correct though it is only an issue on very small quantity orders. Maintaining database consistency across the product's entire life has resulted in a database design inconsistent with best practice. However, this will be much less of an issue for new installs. Concurrency issues can occur with more than one person performing job scheduling. Other concurrency issues can happen, and I'd be wary of recommending this to any business with more than 50 full-time users of the software. **What problems is JobBOSS² solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before JobBOSS, much of the work of managing and tracking a job's flow was done using paper. JobBOSS provided the central location where any question about a job could be answered. Finding weak points in our processes is much easier when things are all electronic, and JobBOSS was the perfect tool for that. ### 11. The job history data is easily searchable to establish current pricing and update routing times. There are a lot of helpful reports to break down the costing in assembly jobs as well. We're also able to store notes about each operation step in job boss, and when someone logs out of an operation, they can leave their own notes as well. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** Jobboss can be difficult to navigate at times, and on larger quotes I sometimes have issues with the software crashing as I try to generate the final quote. If someone else begins to work on the quote at the same time it won't notify me, but one person will not be able to save their work while the other still has the same quote open. **What problems is JobBOSS² solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jobboss helps us accurately track costing of the jobs in our shop and predict what our pricing should be on future jobs in order to be profitable. ### 12. Creating, managing, and printing shop routings and bills of material is straightforward. Purchasing is easy as well. It is software well suited for a job shop. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** JobBOSS is limited in that it is job-focused, not part-focused. That may sound trivial at face value, but the distinction becomes significant if your business grows beyond a job shop. Repeat part numbers can be handled through templates, but with limitation. For example, manufactured component parts shared among multiple top level assemblies or weldments is not handled efficiently through JobBOSS. **What problems is JobBOSS² solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use JobBOSS to create all our manufacturing floor job paperwork - routings and bills of materials. We also issue purchase orders, manage incoming raw materials, purchased components, and outside services through this software. ### 13. Take the time to enter accurate data - from material to finished product and everything inbetween! It is relatively easy to navigate. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** The system generates and assigns so many different numbers - From Quote# to Sales Order# to Packing List# to Invoice#. It would be nice if the system created one number per "order" and used that same number throughout the process - designating the different stages throughout the order process with dashes or letters. Vendors and Customer ID# should be auto-generated numbers. If not, then give admins the ability to change them at any time. Many manufacturers (like ourselves) are selling directly to the end-user (customer). The need for this software to handle the manufacturing side and the retail side would be helpful. Another feature we need would be to have JobBoss seamlessly integrate with an e-commerce platform. **What problems is JobBOSS² solving and how is that benefiting you?** Job Costing has been a critical factor in our ability to find where we lack productivity and fall short in estimating time/material. This software allows for easy employee clock in/out - whether for tracking payroll hours or time on jobs. We have solved the long lines at the time clock at lunchtime by allowing us to remove the lunch hour from all employees' time automatically. ### 14. There are many tools and features allowed in this application which makes it very diverse and unique. Going from the installation on the SQL server to the configurations and modifications. JobBOSS is very easy to us and can be very helpful in becoming the primary database for various organizations. The outline is a very universal structure, but is to be very accurate to the manufacturing processes. Data Collection is very powerful even now we do not fully utilize to it abilities. Data collection at serves the manufacturing very well as time and attendance and job costing. This would be a highly recommendable solution for various manufacturing or quality companies. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** Sometimes the servers would be really slow and can impact workflow. There was an instance one time when after upgrading the servers the linkage to another application we were connected with seemed to be disrupted. This cause quite a panic for the loss of data, however, we were able to fix the issue with JobBOSS support. Creating a case with support is very easy and the timing to get help depends on how severe your issue is. With mine being very high I got contact within about an hour! There was another time where the server did go down for some reason, but one quick restart got it going again. **Recommendations to others considering JobBOSS²:** JobBOSS has a variety of documents that go through the steps of installing, upgrading, and maintaining the server. The initial server setup is very easy with SQL Management Studio and upgrades are very smooth. **What problems is JobBOSS² solving and how is that benefiting you?** Some problems that I had with JobBOSS was upgrading the serve itself. However, with support I was able to be instructed on how to fix the problems and successfully upgrade the server. The benefits I've realized was it's high quality and available support! ### 15. Exact provides a great variety of training options to help users make the most of the program. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** Minor things - > After a sales order is saved, the customer ID can't be changed; instead, you have to close it and enter a new sales order. >Material Type can't be changed once the material ID has been saved. **What problems is JobBOSS² solving and how is that benefiting you?** JobBoss provides data for how much it actually costs to build a product, including labor and materials. JobBOSS has done a good job of keeping its screens and data flows simple and JobBOSS is also easy to learn. The database structure is logical and straightforward, which makes writing reports and queries easier. I like JobBOSS's job flow which combines the functionality of a sales order and a work order into one document. JobBOSS is easier to implement than most ERP systems. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** JobBOSS needs to give the ability to add more user fields and to add user fields to more than just the user field tab. We have run out of user fields and we can't put them on a screen where the users typically work. JobBOSS would also benefit from updatable dashboard functionality. It would also be nice if JobBOSS integrated its manufacturing accounting transactions to the general ledger. **What problems is JobBOSS² solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are effectively running our job shop and JobBOSS has given us the capability to schedule our shop effectively and understand where we are over capacity so that we can adjust when we need to. JobBOSS makes it easy for our machinists to clock their time and see the status of jobs. We are also able to quote customer proposals effectively and convert those quotes into jobs. Cost Analysis is also effective and easy to do in JobBOSS. ### 21. We rarely have any issues. We are using JobBOSS in a Manufacturing setting. I process our Accounts Payables; Vendor control; Inventory; Material Purchase Orders and some Order Entry. We are presently using 37 seats in JobBOSS, which utilizes almost all areas of our business. I have been working with JobBOSS for the past 3 plus years on a daily basis. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** One issue that I have with JobBOSS right now, is the fact that we are unable to write our own reports for the information we are entering. It can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it. In my case with my employer, we used it to organize fixtures for CNC machines as well as any overstock parts. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** While JobBOSS is an awesome piece of software, it does have a fairly large learning curve. While I get that its main focus is comercial use, it needs an overhaul in a few key areas. The user interface needs to be easier to navigate with the added feature of explaining what some of functions do. The process of entering materials / time could not be any easier. Once you create templates to bring in to the routing steps you can do a quote in no time at all. Along with materials, once all your materials are in, they are easy to pull up and enter into the estimating tab. **What do you dislike about JobBOSS²?** Its incredibly cumbersome. For instance you update the verbage on a estimated part, and you go back to your quote, you need to re-enter the name otherwise the verbage does not update. I think the job requriements screen would be incredibly handy if you could organize it better.
