I like that 1&1 has been around for a while and is a widely known and respected. There is only so much I can assess based on experience, so reading great things about other people's experiences gives me high confidence in doing business with 1&1. As far as their services, I like their basic hosting plans, which include most of the vital tools we need to host websites and email. The email accounts work relatively well. We don't experience much delay when sending and receiving emails. The general pricing at 1&1 is decent and they regularly offer promotions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about IONOS 1&1 Domains and hosting? Though 1&1's customer support is generally nice and knowledgeable in some areas, they seem quite limited when it comes to helping us with specific problems related to performance. It would be great if they can take closer looks at certain aspects of our overall setup, installed applications and code that might cause functionality problems. Though they might very well be able to handle complex web setups, you might risk suffering performance issues with their basic hosting plans that may not be well equipped for elaborate CMS setups. We post blog entries that can be linked from social media posts from Twitter and Facebook. We experience great uptime for most of time with 1&1. I bougth a lot of domains in 1&1 and they have the best prices in the market. They offer almost all types of domains. You can choose to pay yearly or monthly. They offer the option to buy one year without automatic renovation. I love the free credit that they offer at IONOS for trying their Cloud Server packages. I greatly like the flexible cloud server package, which enables you to upgrade and downgrade your server, pending upon your needs, at anytime. At AME, we love the simple domain name and website hosting for our youth group. We needed a domain and site to portray AMEetings, and 1&1 was the cheapest and fastest solution to do so. We like how the site gives our group an easy way to express what we do. It also allows people to sign up fast, logging into a domain name that they are likely to remember for years to come. We dislike how the static site could not be viewed properly once uploaded; we had to upload our static site onto Netlify and make a meta-redirect HTML page so that people who log onto our youth group page, www.ameetings.club, would be able to view the site properly. We believe that the reason why the site could not be viewed properly once uploaded is that there was a complicated script that was detected as malware when really it wasn't. Setting up email on accounts like Outlook is fast and the support provided by 1 & 1 support services is effective. if there is a problem with spam and email errors, the support is very responsive. I'm also terrible at remembering renewals so it's convenient that they send out reminder emails way in advance so you don't lose your website. The UI is extremely simple, which is nice especially for a novice like myself. I did have to reach out to support a few times which was helpful, but there was one instance where the gentlemen didn't know the answer and it took over 24 hours to find a resolution. I've been a 1&1 customer for 15 years and though I've grown into many contracts, they've allowed me to keep my legacy contract in place at the same pricing I started with. The support has sometimes been hit or miss. Generally, things work as they should, but the support in the shared hosting tier is not always very helpful. Their shared hosting includes a lot more useful options (email, SSH access, etc) than many other competitors who seem to nickel and dime you for those extras.
