## Innoslate Reviews
  ### 1. Clean, Intuitive Cloud-Based MBSE Tool That’s Ideal for Students on PC or Mac

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bob K. | Professor of Engineering Practice, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

I use Innoslate to teach model-based systems engineering. Because it’s a cloud-based software application, students on either a PC or a Mac can start using it right away without needing to install anything on their computers. This is especially valuable for Mac users, who often have to rely on virtualization to run other MBSE software.

The user interface is clean and intuitive, which makes it easy for students to get oriented and begin working quickly.

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

Some of the SysML diagramming may not be fully compliant with the standards, and this is especially true for the sequence diagram. As a workaround, I use the LML-compliant action diagram to capture the subtleties that would normally be represented in a fully SysML-compliant sequence diagram.

**What problems is Innoslate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my situation, the business case is rapid software deployment so that people who haven’t used it before can start learning MBSE right away, instead of spending time hassling with the tool.

**Official Response from Liz Steiner:**

> Thank you for sharing how you are using Innoslate in the classroom. We are glad to hear that the cloud based platform has made it easy for students to get started right away regardless of whether they are using a PC or a Mac. Providing quick access without installation is something many academic programs appreciate, especially when teaching MBSE concepts to a diverse group of students.

It is also great to hear that the user interface has helped students get oriented quickly. One of our goals with Innoslate is to reduce the learning curve so teams and students can focus on systems thinking and modeling rather than spending time learning complicated tools.

We appreciate your thoughtful feedback on SysML diagramming and sequence diagram compliance. Innoslate is built around Lifecycle Modeling Language (LML), which is designed to simplify model based systems engineering while still supporting many SysML concepts. We understand that some users rely on specific SysML diagram conventions, and feedback like yours helps inform how we continue improving modeling and diagramming capabilities within the platform.

Thank you again for the work you are doing to teach MBSE and for including Innoslate as part of that experience. We appreciate your review and your contribution to the Innoslate community.

  ### 8. The platform that helps us in designing models before working on them physically

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arpit S. | Sales Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

The platform is totally unique as it helps us in designing different types of machines and the models for new technologies free handedly for our business. It also help us in predicting the amount of risk that the our new projects might face while producing them. So, we test on innoslate before their real installation. It helps in minimising the overall risk and real physical investment of manpower before the work begins.

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

The main challenge that I faced while using innoslate is that their user interface is messy and also there are lots of editing tools and features that are there on their dashboard and it became so confusing during our initial days that we did not understand that which feature is useful for what purpose, also maintaining this software is really expensive so if you belong from a small business than this might not be the perfect choice for you.

**What problems is Innoslate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As we have a set of team working on developing latest car detailing products and machines and our engineers are working day and night to create some of the finest and best tools that can be used for premium car detailing that's why innoslate has been one of the best choices for us so far. Now we are able to make good returns with this tool and from our customers after its complete installation.

  ### 9. The model and diagrams can be generated through this plaform for your business

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pragati V. | Social Media Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

The software helps our team to work together and share there data like images, photos, videos etc with each other in real time situation. Also it helps us in trying out demo stimulations for testing them and understand their flaws. So, that there is no wastage of resources after they are completely made

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

The plaform is completely based on system engineering so the it will need people with strong level of IQ and long rigorous training before IT team of any organisation can work on it. For small companies and it is not much useful because it is expensive and little outdated for modern needs but may be a good option for big MNCs.

**What problems is Innoslate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The simulation that the software has helps us minimising risks as we check and test everything through this tool before it can happen. All it provides is one plaform for designs, simulation and tasks that helps us to know more about our business and growth only. This small simulation helps us to meet government compliances also reduce chances rejection before it can happen.

  ### 10. Innoslate A Powerful Tool for Systems Engineering and Project Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohd J. | Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

What I like best about Innoslate is its all in one approach to systems engineering. The most helpful feature is the visual modeling and requirements management, which makes it easy to track complex projects from concept to completion. Its simulation tools help predict potential risks before they become issues, and the built-in collaboration features keep the whole team aligned. The biggest upsides are having everything modeling, requirements, documentation, and analysis integrated in one platform, which saves time and reduces the need for multiple disconnected tools.

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

While Innoslate is powerful cloud-native, model-based systems engineering solution that supports the full lifecycle of systems, it can feel overwhelming at first due to the number of features and options. The least helpful aspect is the initial rate of learning over time new users may need time and training to fully take advantage of the platform. In some cases, performance can slow down when working with very large, complex models. Another downside is that its interface, while functional, could be more modern and intuitive to make navigation smoother.

**What problems is Innoslate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Innoslate helps keep complex projects organized by bringing requirements, models, and documentation into one workspace. It reduces the need to switch between multiple tools, which saves time and avoids errors. Having everything connected makes it easier to track changes, see the impact of decisions, and keep the team on the same page. This has helped us work more efficiently and spot issues earlier in the process

  ### 11. All-in-one tool that makes project work smoother

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sumit K. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

What I like most is that it combines so many useful features in one place - requirements, diagrams, task tracking, and planning. When working on big projects with different teams, the live collaboration really helps everyone stay updated. The visual diagrams are also great for explaining ideas clearly, even to people who aren’t very technical.

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

Sometimes there are more options on the screen than I actually need, which can make it feel a little cluttered. The interface could be a bit more modern, and very large projects can sometimes load a little slowly.

**What problems is Innoslate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me manage all parts of a project in one place - from requirements gathering to final delivery. This means I don’t have to waste time moving data between different tools or worrying about version mismatches. It also improves communication between team members, since everyone works on the same platform and sees the same information in real time. This has reduced errors, saved time, and made our projects run more smoothly.

  ### 12. Cloud-Based, but Still Early to Fully Recommend

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liem N. | Sales Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

It is a cloud base and easy to read and modify.

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

Have not found anything that I dislike about it.

It provided detail workflow like charts.

**Official Response from Liz Steiner:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad you found Innoslate easy to read and modify, and that the cloud-based approach supported your work without added setup.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dorothy H. | Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

Even a newbie in Model-Based Systems Engineering can operate Innoslate quite easily. My ‘team’ and I can collaborate effectively use the web-based platform no matter where we are or what devices we use, which is the greatest feature. Simulation, version control, and full reporting are features that can help Lean Modeling Language based modeling approach to continue supporting yet paper process operations simplify a move. We can now enjoy much clear and of high quality documentation since system models and functional diagrams could be rapidly developed.

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

The simulation part of the tool is really cool, but maybe just too many features and no obvious way around it can be a little intimidating. Also, cross-platform processes might be even better if more tightly integrated with tools such as MATLAB. Also noted some minor interface inconsistencies, but usually, the update’s rid of it.

**What problems is Innoslate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Innoslate helped me onboard newly hired engineers quickly with the model-based approach it allowed my team to take with very little learning curve. Like centralizing requirement elicitation, risk assessment, and system modeling activities, it makes the systems engineering processes simpler. It has made working in teams with foreign students an absolute necessity for me in the classroom as well as on real-world projects. It enhances my productivity since I can easily trace and see the progress of the project from its beginning to end.

  ### 46. Design Systems with Fluidity

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marc U. | Principal Data Science Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

We used Innoslate 4.5 for about 3 months -- in that time I found the requirements management capabilities, traceability and test management tools the most meaningful from the start. As we say in the discipline -- build the right system -- and that starts with requirements and ideas. Tools for generating documentation and deliverabes were also huge time savers.

From there the diagramming modalities where easy to use, allowing a novice/intermediate SysML user draft simple ideas to get points across.

Beyond the tool suite is the training material, video library and documenation -- which is among some of the most intuitive and effective material I've seen in the DE/SE industry.

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

The main detractor for our situation was the "sysml" import capability from other tools -- we realize that this class of tool is intended most for forward engineering and import of large system diagram sets is an unlikely means of working. There was significant information loss in the import between nodes, links, labels, and various other data. So much for SysML standard and XMI as an interchange format ... its possible these issues are still very interpretative that its not the fault of either tool, but the lack of fidelity in the interchange format.

If you don't spend much time and energy importing XMI material into Innoslate, this is not an issue.

**What problems is Innoslate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Process assessment, from an enterprise strategy perspective -- looking at how many engineering teams interact and report upward.

**Official Response from Liz Steiner:**

> Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on your experience with Innoslate. We are thrilled to hear that you found the requirements management, traceability, and test management tools to be meaningful and time-saving. We appreciate your kind words about our documentation generation tools and diagramming modalities.

We apologize for the challenges you faced with the SysML import capability. Your feedback is valuable, and we will look into ways to improve the fidelity of the interchange format to enhance user experience.

It's great to hear that Innoslate is helping with process assessment and enterprise strategy. If you have any further feedback or need assistance, please feel free to reach out. We are here to support you every step of the way.

  ### 47. Good alternative to pricier alternatives but lots of room for improvement

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

Innoslate is a tool like Cameo or DOORS that can be applied to all system development life cycle steps, including documentation, testing, and project management. One improvement that Innoslate incorporated in their software, which I have found beneficial, is the ability to quickly change system views to meet the immediate needs of a project best. The user can change from a function block diagram in a hierarchy of system decomposition to an action diagram that can demonstrate the actual functional process to help determine if the current concept is sound or if further development is required to satisfy functional or performance-based requirements. Innoslate takes full advantage of being built with application programming interfaces (API) that make use of both a native test environment with the tool that allows for constant testing and verification of existing process models. The tool also allows users to integrate other validation tools/models like MATLAB and Systems Tool Kit external to the tool.

Innoslate offers several models to represent functional flow block diagrams, such as Activity,
IDEF(0), and Action diagrams. The FFBDs below followed the Action diagram model. One useful tool
that can be performed with the Action diagram to help identify issues in functional flow is that time,
date and units can be added to each block (action), then any part of the model can be run through
either as a discrete or Monte Carlo simulation, considering any added variables.

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

Some aspects of Innoslate that cause frustration and wasted time stem from the lack of detailed
formattings, such as the inability to increase text font sizes in a diagram, which is not a significant issue for
small diagrams but makes producing more extensive system and subsystem-level views nearly pointless.

The tool also fails to export otherwise standard and uniform table data, such as traceability matrices and risks.
This is due to how Innoslate treats associations amongst objects, which for any data table or diagram
uses a strict hierarchical relationship and does not permit mixing different classes.

For example, exporting physical elements cannot be set up to have element A connected by interface B which connects
to element C because A & C belong to the Asset class and B belongs to the Conduit class. Edge cases like
this becomes commonplace and adds a lot of post-export manual effort, which increases exponentially
as projects proceed to more granular levels and cross reference matrices became multiple pages in
length.

Available instruction is also lacking. I've attended numerous live sessions that SPEC hosts. I find that they never really dive into actual use cases and do not address the problems or shortcomings experienced by actual users, using arbitrary and very high-level examples. I've been requesting improvements on the font sizes available for years, and it's always the same excuse that it's a complex issue. Something written in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS should not be that challenging to address, given that I can do so on my own in a web browser's console on their website.

Lastly, the customer I work for isn't going to log into Innoslate to inspect diagrams or reports. They want them in MS Word, PowerPoint, or an online Wiki like Confluence. In Innoslate, they use a single formatting template when exporting documents of models that take a lot of time to fix on the exporting backend.

Innoslate would be a better product if they incorporated React and Redux into the online tool

**What problems is Innoslate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An available web-based mBSE tool can address the entire systems engineering life-cycle of activities in a single environement. Keeping everything in a single database and environment without the need for a thick client and that you can access anywhere across many devices is an efficient aspect of the tool

**Official Response from Liz Steiner:**

> Hi John,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We’re glad to hear that you are enjoying the diagram auto-generation capabilities, the Monte-Carlo and Discrete Event Simulator, and the integration with MATLAB and STK. Regarding your comments about the text size, I’ve spoken to our dev team and let them know of your request.
I wanted to follow up with your feedback on exporting data in Innoslate and for more training options.
All of the database information can be customized to show specific information using the query and editing the database columns. The Entity Table Report allows the export of what is currently shown in the Database. The traceability matrix can be created using relationships, queries, or hierarchies, which can then be exported. Custom queries can be created that mix classes, relationships, labels, and attributes. There are plans to develop a Table View that would allow the customization of columns and data. The reports can be exported in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. The diagrams can be exported in Microsoft PowerPoint.
SPEC Innovations provides onboarding training for all new customers. If you haven’t received this, please talk to your admin. There is also an online guide to Innoslate at help.innoslate.com. We’re also updating our website and knowledge base to include the latest training and video tutorials which will be ready in late spring 2023. Lastly, you can reach out to support to request a personal walkthrough at support@innoslate.com or call them directly at 571.485.7800.

  ### 48. Managing a Government equipment design project using Innoslate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

All our team data is in a shared location allowing single entry of information and relating all aspects of the design together. I don't know of a true competitor, only a bunch of other software that doesn't work together.

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

It is constantly being updated so I have to keep up on the new and improved features. Not sure how to improve this situation unless I just spend more time to keep up to date.

**What problems is Innoslate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wanted to start a new hardware product development project with an interactive, shareable tool, to develop requirements, model the conceptual design, and continue using the tool for project management, risk management, test planning, and all the other project and technical management activities. I'd used the tool before for system modeling but not for the full capabilities. It is allowing me, as the project systems engineer and deputy project manager to have a place to record and manage our project activities and allow the design and management team to share reference materials in a database, all our reports generated in Innoslate, perform our system modeling, and a myriad of other functions.

**Official Response from Liz Steiner:**

> Hi Scott,

Thank you for the feedback! We’re excited to hear you are enjoying the collaboration and single-platform functionality. Regarding updates and new features, I'd highly recommend setting up a meeting with support to go through the new features. They’ll walk you through everything and answer all your questions. You can contact support at support@innoslate.com/571.485.7800.

Thank you again for the feedback and for helping us improve.

  ### 49. Future software solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Parul T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

I like Innoslate because it is a overall fullcycle software which can perform various functions at one time with mimimal time in a easy and effectihe manner. We can personaliszed according to our choice. It provide the security aswell.

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

If i am have to write review about the cons of Innoslate the only it is easy to access and operate by anyone.
Also from my point of view it can operate from both android and desktop so if they have only desktop verson it can help a little in the security

**What problems is Innoslate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have multiple options available in this tool, it help me to edit and review my all test plans for my necessary requirement and essy to use with care. It also help my business to go ahead believes in these future technologies.

**Official Response from Liz Steiner:**

> Hi Parul,

Thank you for the feedback! We're glad to hear that you are enjoying the full lifecycle functionality and ease of use. I'm also happy to hear you are benefitting from the test plan documentation.

I wanted to address your concerns about Innoslate being easy to access. Security is of the highest priority to us. Innoslate is available on-premise, and is DISA STIG certified. You can also use Innoslate on Naval Systems Engineering Research Center and AWS GovCloud. It's containerized on Air Force Platform One Iron Bank. If you have questions about security, please check out the article below and/or give us a call/email at 571.485.7800/support@innoslate.com.

Thank you again for taking the time to leave us your feedback!

  ### 50. First time Innoslate and MBSE user (Program Manager).

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Innoslate?**

Being a fairly new user, I'm still learning enough about the tool to provide an informed response. Some features I've enjoyed so far are document templates. I'm very much looking forward to the modeling and simulation capabilities.

**What do you dislike about Innoslate?**

In some interfaces, it's unclear or inconsistent how to save content vs content automatically saving.

**What problems is Innoslate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are starting a new complex aerospace engineering project. So far deriving system requirements from stakeholder and business objectives is the bulk of the work. This is our first major product so we have no performance point to compare against to measure Innoslate's effectivness.

**Official Response from Liz Steiner:**

> Hi Chris,

Thank you for the feedback and welcome to the world of MBSE! We’re glad to hear you are enjoying the digital document side of Innoslate and we’re here to help when you are ready to move forward with modeling and simulation.

I wanted to follow up with your feedback on the saving functionality. The general rule is that Innoslate will save automatically as is standard in cloud-native tools with one exception being Diagram and Charts views. Those two views utilize undo/redo functionality. This type of functionality requires you to make a hard save before exiting the view. If you have more questions about saving or anything else, please reach out to support@innoslate.com. You can also request to have a meeting with our support team.

Thank you again for sharing your experience!
