  ### 2. iCal you cal

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gary K. | Executive Producer, Writer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2025

**What do you like best about iCal?**

iCal Seamlessly syncs with all apple devices

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

The settings don't want to take. iCal seems to decide which default calendar it wants and sometime it seems to add calendars from emails without user input

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can invite people to meetings. Schedule appointments and schedule reminders

  ### 3. Simple and easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erika F. | Lyricist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2024

**What do you like best about iCal?**

I love how iCal talks to Apple Maps; whenever you add to your calendar and add a location, calendar and maps automatically sync up. You can see your next destination on the map within the Calendar app. I love this, because I don't have to separately open Maps and plug in my destinations, because Calendar does it for me!

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

Personally, there aren't too many downsides; it's simple and sleek. When I open the app on my phone, the appointments, destinations and notes are all laid out. I can see everything I had planned. I'd say the only downside is that you are you're supposed to put a start time and end time; I really do not like how the end time shifts when you change the start time. (I.e. If I have an appointment from 2pm-3pm and I change the start time to 2:15, iCal automatically shifts the end time to 3:15, which is not correct.) I wish they would just stay stagnant! It's so weird, I do not know how to fix it. Maybe in system settings?

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work part time in property management as a tour guide, so I have a lot of appointments/houses I need to be at every hour. All of these places are all over LA: the valley, central LA, and East LA. iCal benefits me when I work this job because I can just input all of my appointments in iCal. When I work the job day of, I can open iCal and I see my day laid out; I can see my appointments, addresses, and notes in one go. I can tap on each individual appointment and see maps on that page, and all I have to do is click on the map and it will automatically open Apple Maps for me. I love how the two apps talk to each other! It makes my job so much easier.

  ### 4. My favorite calendar tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julie B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2023

**What do you like best about iCal?**

It is simple to use and has a really great user interface - simple, clean, clear and easy on the eyes!
Does everything I need including manage my personal, family and work calendars. I'd be lost without it.
The widgets on my other apple devices are also great to get a quick snap shot.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

No downsides at all I aboslutely lve it and its the only calendar I've used in 15 years!

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's super easy to subscribe to my work calendar, import my families google calendar, keep track of my appointments and also my time blocking all in one simple, easy to use place. Having all my different calendars in the one app is super helpful and it syncs immediately across all my devices so I always know whats happening.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

It is not simple to subscribe to external calendars but it is possible

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Iyer A. | Business Development Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2023

**What do you like best about iCal?**

It is free, easy to use, lightweight, and can be integrated with the mail app. Apple offers customer support on all products, but I haven't had any issues. It's easily implemented into life / your computer as well if you own multiple products. I do see daily frequency use.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

It gets cluttered easily, and it cannot easily send invites. It's good for being free though. But for business I would reccomend something more robust.

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to put all my meetings, appts, and holidays in one area.

Might be a bit too simple, but that's Apple's philosophy I guess.

**What do you like best about iCal?**

ICal syncs across devices and has a simple, fast interface to quickly add, update meeting days and times. The added feature of being able to send invitations to other attendees is seemless and allows for additional ease of use. The ability to color code work meetings from personal meetings is an excellent feature. The ability to set yearly and recurring reminders allows for longer term planning and organization. Multiple view options are also useful.

The user experience is excellent and there's nothing to dislike.

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ical solves the problem of keeping personal and business meetings and scheduled organized across multiple devices.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2021

**What do you like best about iCal?**

I like that you can automatically add things to repeat as a reoccurring event and how accessible it is across all devices. I'm able to keep track of home life, business, leisure- everything in one place.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

This is being picky, but knowing what day you created an event because sometimes you do things in a fast manor and you'll find things in there that you don't remember putting in or could have been scheduled on the wrong day. Maybe having a feature that tells you this note was created on this day and time just in case you need a reference point.

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My organization has greatly improved and I have noticed less stress in my life as I can account for everything in one spot. As my business and professional needs have grown in various settings, so has my calendar so I'm thankful that it keeps me on track.

iCal can add more modern features into its interface to make it more attractive for the users.

**What do you like best about iCal?**

**What do you like best about iCal?**

It is user-friendly, has several customizable options, and allows you to have multiple different calendars on your one iCloud app.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

The downsides of using iCal is largely in its glitchiness. Sometimes it is very easy to accidentally move an event time by dragging your finger across the screen, and if you do that, you may accidentally miss an event or reminder.

  ### 36. Useful Calendar App with Some Limits

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Monica C. | Institutional Administrative Assistant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2021

**What do you like best about iCal?**

It's convenient that the app comes standard with IOS and syncs pretty seamlessly across Apple products. It's most useful for keeping track of dates associated with your Contact Lists like birthdays and anniversaries. I also like the accuracy with which it maps your appointment locations. It then gives you updated reminders (including traffic alerts) so you can make it to your destination on time which is especially handy if you own Apple products like the iPhone or Apple Watch. This feature is one of the main advantages to using the app. However, I feel that features could be added to improve the user experience.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

Though the app is pretty functional, it isn't the most visually appealing and lacks customization features. The monthly, weekly, and daily views are a bit clunky on iPhone, especially in my opinion. Also, unlike other scheduling apps, you cannot generate a virtual meeting room as a location or invite others to the appointment as seamlessly. It is also not easy to sync iCal with other calendar applications like Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar. Because of this, I find myself, using the aforementioned applications (Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar) much more often than iCal.

**Recommendations to others considering iCal:**

When using iCal, please note that although there are many advantages to using this tool, including accessibility if you mainly use Apple products, it does lack customization features that come standard with other tools like Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar.

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As previously mentions, I mostly use iCal to track and remind me of dates associated with my Contacts. It's a bit too cumbersome to use as my day-to-day calendar since I use Microsoft Outlook and Teams for most of my work-related appointments and meetings.

  ### 37. Invaluable Scheduling Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zachary Z. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2021

**What do you like best about iCal?**

Apple's Calendar application is my go-to scheduling platform. It allows users to keep track of important life events with seamless integration between Mac computers and iPhones via iCloud. Various color schemes are available to differentiate types of events. Alerts are relatively customizable, as users can set up to two alerts per event. Perhaps best of all, in addition to adding a location for each event, there exists a large section for notes -- this works perfectly for storing Zoom links (and meeting IDs and passwords) or other small tidbits of information that would be useful to know prior to the event of interest. Users can choose between daily, weekly, monthly, or even yearly views of their calendar, adding to the overall customization that Calendar offers. If you are a Mac user, there really isn't a better alternative than to dive deeper into the "Apple ecosystem."

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

There really isn't much to dislike about Apple's Calendar application. One minor issue, however, exists in the weekly view. In general, this view is great because it features a red line that moves down the day (and week) with time throughout the day -- however, it is impossible to see the entire day (i.e., 7 am-7 pm) in one view, and zooming out isn't an option. Genuinely, this is a minor issue, but it exists nonetheless and is why I personally prefer the monthly view.

**Recommendations to others considering iCal:**

If you are an Apple user, this really should be your solution for scheduling. Its seamless integration across all your devices is reason enough to switch to this software.

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Apple Calendar solves the problem of personal scheduling. It offers a straightforward solution in a characteristically user-friendly, Apple type of way. Buttons are big, the colors are excellent, and visually the experience is quite pleasing and easy to understand.

I like using i cal to help me set reminders for the day!

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

I dislike that it's not connected to my email.

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have become so forgetful lately, so this really does help me remember important things for work.

  ### 39. Easy to Access and Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about iCal?**

Intuitively pre-fills information from conversation, or email, or recent map searches.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

I've only used it on my phone, not sure about accessibility on PC.

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I schedule appointments, set birthday reminders, and add short tasks with locations to take advantage of "time to leave" alert.

  ### 40. Decent functionality but features could be improved

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2021

**What do you like best about iCal?**

I like that I can quickly and easily check my upcoming meetings and appointments and search for them by title. I like that I get reminders for meetings (usually).

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

I dislike that old meetings sometimes stay on my calendar even after they've been canceled and that their reminders continue to go off. I dislike that when you accept a meeting from your phone or propose a new time it screws up the meeting invite. I also dislike the interface with Zoom and WebEx is very poor. In our increasingly virtual world, this must be fixed.

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving meeting scheduling and calendar booking. We remained interconnected despite a largely virtual setting.

  ### 41. Using across all devices.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2021

**What do you like best about iCal?**

iCal auto fetches any events, reminders or meetings from my gmail app to create reminders on the iCal and notifies me.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

iCal sometime duplicates same events which are synced through other apps. This has to improve in detecting duplicates.

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The most benefit is where iCal can be used across other devices with same account. It's used mainly in my iPhone and I can have the same calendar reminders in my MacBook pro

  ### 42. Love using iCal on a daily basis

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mrs. R. | Mathematics Instructor - Academic Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2020

**What do you like best about iCal?**

I like the reminders the best. I am never late or miss meetings now. It is also nice to be able to share appointments with other people as long as you know their email address. Ical is nice to open up and see what is going on for the rest of the week also. You can look at the calendar as a whole or by the week or even by the day.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

I dislike the view of the calendar. I like when I can see the entire calendar at once. I wish you could set more than 2 reminders also. I know earlier I said you can view multiple ways but there is just something different when you can see the appointments on the calendar vs just a dot on the day. I actually use an ical widget so that I can see my appointments on the home screen of my phone directly. This helps for seeing future events.

**Recommendations to others considering iCal:**

I like how you can share meetings with other people and make sure that you husband doesn't miss appointments. Make sure the person accepts the invite also. It is nice to have as a record also of the person seeing the appointment, in case they don't show up. I also like using outlook calendar in addition to icloud. We also use outlook at my institution and I like how it is integrated with my email also. Emails are great ways to remind you of events, meetings, and appointments.

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't like when the meeting is in my calendar more than once instance. Benefits are the travel time option. This is nice when you have to be somewhere at a certain time but have to drive to get there. I also noticed that somehow facebook events are showing up on my ical which I don't like but it helps me to remember people's birthdays and also holidays. This helps when planning events for the future.

  ### 43. Super easy to use, great for organization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evelina G. | Lishma Fellow, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2021

**What do you like best about iCal?**

Very easy and clean user interface, and the multiple views and reminders are very helpful. I'd say it's one of the best calendars out there in that regard. The simplicity, customization, and auto-fill in particular are some of the best features. It'll definitely help you with organization and efficiency in terms of your schedule, especially if you're managing multiple appointments per day.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

Can only be used with Apple products and devices unfortunately.

**Recommendations to others considering iCal:**

Use the color coding!

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The color-coding feature can be used for example for urgency or types of appointments, and that can help with clarity and ensuring the most important things aren't missed. I get easily overwhelmed and stressed when I have a lot in my daily schedule, and the ability to edit, personalize, and color-code appointments has actually been super beneficial in making my day more manageable.

How easy it is to use this to create new events. You just click and the event forms. Love it!

Sometimes the event has a link to the email but when it goes to my email it won't find the original email. If this could be improved that would be great!

I am able to solve my efficiency issues and stay organized with my task list.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

I dislike that we can't add in more details, I would want to be able to attach documents to a calendar event in my phone, especially when the event is a trip.

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm keeping myself on top of the many Zoom calls, meeting and appointments in my life.

  ### 50. Terrible Application that Apple forces users to use...

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott H. | Business Systems Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2021

**What do you like best about iCal?**

Everything about the "ical" is absolutely terrible when compared to ANY other calendar platform.

**What do you dislike about iCal?**

When I attempt to add an event to my calendar from, e.g., an eventbrite confirmation email, it gives the options for Outlook, Google, and Apple. When I click Outlook, the Apple OS treats it like an Apple Calendar event, even though I already have Outlook downloaded (and have never used the ical in my life!). This is extremely frustrating, and honestly pathetic for a 2.2 TRILLION dollar computer company..

**What problems is iCal solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The only problem I have solved with ical is living a long life, as the stress enduced from the terrible application cis literally killing me.
