What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?

The full JEE server that actually works unlike JBoss. This server was ahead of its time but that was a long time ago. It provides a holistic approach of providing everything even if you don’t need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?

The best part of it is also its worst part. It’s too huge. Developing applications with WebSphere is painfully slow. It provides everything even if you don’t need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"General Websphere Application Server"
4/5
What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?

Ease of use and deployment of the product. Expanding as part of the MFP platforms. The end users have been using the product love that it is easy to consume. There are many different use cases for such a product and the speed to market on the product makes for a great overall solution set. There are plenty of great things about the product but one of my favorite is how easy it is for the development teams and our business accelerators to take a look and jump right in with using the solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?

The product is comparable to other products on the market and does a good job at what it aims to do. The ease of deployment internally and getting internal app dev teams to utilize the product has been easier to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"WebSphere Application Server"
3/5
What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?

It's pretty easy to use and to install. The installation guide is very easy to understand. Support is also very helpful. Opening PMR with WAS is pretty easy and they are very responsive. The response time is also very fast. Our WAS representative is also very helpful and accessible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?

Licensing is very expensive. WebSphere Application Server ND and family edition is pretty expensive. The first-time purchase is very expensive and the renewal is pretty costly as well. The migration tool from one version to the next also requires some time to understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?

IBM's support of IBM WebSphere is one of the best attributes of both the product and the company. Both tickets as well as working with our representatives is always a quick means of getting answers to our questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?

WebSphere ND is a full featured product that can be overly complex when solving simple solutions. IBM Liberty offers a bring what you need options; however, I have not used it at this time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"explore noving WebSphere ND to cloud using Kebernetes and docker"
4/5
What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?

I like to see a lot of development effort by IBM to use Kebernetes, Docker, containers to move the apps to hybrid cloud. As the solution to the legacy systems and legacy data, this is a solution. I'd like to see in the future. -Jack Zhu Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?

nothing. Watson may be far away from our daily life. But this is beginning of this period. We will try it when we have chance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"WebSphere v9 upgrade"
5/5
What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?

There are many options for the upgrade path - We chose the inplace upgrade. Though it sounds destructive but it is a straight upgrade with the pre and post upgrade migration scripts. It preserve all the configuration settings including apps. The upgrade is seemless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?

I worked with WebSphere both traditional and liberty profile on both zOS and distributed linux platforms. The upgrade on the zos is more complictad. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"WEBSPHERE SUCKS"
0.5/5
What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?

It comes with a local server that you can configure to run code on your local machine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?

So old technology. Constant problems with upgrading, deployments...etc. Should only be used to support legacy applications. Upgrading Java and other languages is a pain. It is also bundled with their version of eclipse which makes things annoying use together. Configuring server profiles and ports is especially annoying Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
