Datapower is the complete solution whether you are using any protocol (MQ, SOAP, REST, HTTPS...). Since it is a hardware device it is capable o\f providing wire speed transfer rates with the ability to transform your message body completely or only few tags. There are various models availabel in the market for Datapopwer like Integration Appliance XI50, B2B Appliance XB60 and Messaging Appliance XM70. Datapower has in the inbuilt ability to detect threat of various natures and treat them accordingly. It gives you the flexibility to scale or descale because it provides you with a parameter called threshold value where you can define how many transactions you want to allow per minute or second. Datapower is the most secure device because it gives us with the options of integrating some of the most secure protocols into our service namely SSL, TLS, OAuth, SAML and even Kerboros too. I have personally never seen a message getting lost or hacked in Datapower. **What do you dislike about IBM DataPower Gateway?** Datapower doesn't have any flaws according to me. The only thing which I could suggest is that they need to come up with more detailed documentation because Datapower has a plethora of options but the audience isn't well aware of them because they have not documented them well use-case wise. Another thins is the initial setup which is quite cumbersome if you are doing it the first time. **Recommendations to others considering IBM DataPower Gateway:** Being an Architect, it was a difficult decision for me to choose from different options of Middleware available in the market. But I am glad that I choose Datapower and we have increased our business and productivity exponentially after that. **What problems is IBM DataPower Gateway solving and how is that benefiting you?** Datapower has been the most important integration lately to our tools. Now we feel secure to connect to external clients and share sensitive data with them and they also have agreed on the same. The datapower appliance does exceptional Load balancing as well, because of that there is never too much volume on a single domain. We are able to connect to any type of client because Datapower inherently supports all types of services. The integration with Mainframes has been a real winner for us because now we are able to leverage the power of Mainframes in real time with the help of Datapower as a middleware entity. ### 11. In all my experience with working with physical DataPower appliances (XB62, IDG, X152), I"ve never had to worry about CPU/memory/disk space usage. Definitely helps me sleep at night. Super easy to setup basic proxies, SSL validation. **What do you dislike about IBM DataPower Gateway?** I'm not the best at XSLT, and a lot of the transformations require that. Converting from XSLT <-> JSON has been difficult (using JSON X), but I believe there are some actions in the 2018 instance that is supposed to make that easier, looking forward to it. **Recommendations to others considering IBM DataPower Gateway:** DataPower is super secure, and a total workhorse **What problems is IBM DataPower Gateway solving and how is that benefiting you?** Edge security, authenticating API calls and requests between external and internal systems. ### 12. Datapower allows us to have just that. We are currently onboarding 900 trading partners to datapower for AS2/SFTP transactions.Datapower has proved reliable and secure. **What do you dislike about IBM DataPower Gateway?** We have the linux vm version of datapower running on hyper-v. It has been very difficult to get set up. While its useful to be an xslt guru, most things can be done with the gateway (javascript-ish) scripts. Once you get a baseline set of flows, look towards automation to remove any user errors. **What do you dislike about IBM DataPower Gateway?** The new user interface stinks. I prefer the old web-gui. **Recommendations to others considering IBM DataPower Gateway:** plan carefully. Some of the deployment options are not as intuitive as others. **What problems is IBM DataPower Gateway solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use DataPower as a secuirty gateway and service bus. There are many viable integrations with data stores, security patterns (AAA) and XML transformations. The security components are quick and integrate nicely with LDAP and other stores.
