"A powerful and complex OCR tool"

What do you like best?

Functionally Datacap has everything you could possibly need. A strong OCR engine and multiple functions as well as customisable rules.

What do you dislike?

The software is, dated, to put it politely. There is little online support and there are quirks which you can only really find out through trial and error. Something's just don't work as they should, but there are tricks to get them to work.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Datacap in order to analyse incoming post and email and to get some information out of the items in order to pass on to our RPA systems to carry out preliminary work for handlers. This saves a great deal of time and effort ton their part leaving them more important and time sensitive tasks.

What do you dislike?

We do not dislike anything about this program. We have enjoyed it and use it business wide. NO other options have given us the results that IBM datacap has given us. We do not have any suggestions to make it better, and I highly reccomend it.

"Datacap - good not great"

What do you like best?

Integration with IBM Content Navigator is a major plus.

What do you dislike?

Complexity of ruleset/wfl development, the solution promotion process leaves a lot of room for mistakes (heavily file system dependent)

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Wait a bit (to see if IBM is still investing in enhancing) and vet other products to see if they can be stood up with more ootb functionality to suit most of the basic capture needs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

auto classification and data extraction, export to repo (IBM FileNet). Unified UI (Nav) made life better. But DC app development needs attention.

"Beginning to integrate Datacap in business process"

What do you like best?

Being able to extract data from all content and creating searchable pdfs has been a game changer for our business processes. We are able to populate other systems, kicking off other business processes while then utilizing the searchable pdfs in the future for end users to quickly search for text within the documents.

What do you dislike?

There isnt much that we dislike at this time. The biggest hurdle has been to change your mindset on how to put the actions together to create the application.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are able to extract data from documents for analytics
