# What are the top talent assessment tools for cutting time-to-hire without sacrificing quality?

Hey G2 community, I've been digging into Talent Assessment software because our recruiting team keeps running into the same wall: resumes all start to look the same on paper, and by the time a candidate reaches a final interview, weeks have already gone by. I wanted to see which tools people are actually relying on to speed things up without turning the process into a rubber stamp.

TestGorilla (4.5 stars, 1,449 reviews): Reviewers keep pointing to the same thing, it validates skills upfront so hiring managers spend interview time only on people worth talking to. A few also mention it's cut down manual resume screening significantly.

eSkill (4.5 stars, 368 reviews): One reviewer running a high-volume HR department said it saved hundreds of hours they used to spend proctoring and grading tests by hand. Automatic grading seems to be the big draw here.

Wonderlic (4.2 stars, 197 reviews): Helps rank candidates so teams aren't bringing everyone in for an in-person round. That said, more than one reviewer flagged that the test itself can run long, which risks losing candidates along the way.

Indeed Hiring Platform (4.3 stars, 615 reviews): Great for getting a huge pool of applicants fast, but a few reviewers noted that with volume comes a lot of irrelevant applications, so manual screening doesn't fully go away.

If you've switched tools specifically to shorten time-to-hire, did it actually work, or did the bottleneck just move somewhere else in the process? And for anyone running high-volume roles, are you using the same tool for a warehouse hire and a specialized technical hire, or splitting by role type?

Talent Assessment reviews on G2 make automatic grading sound like the whole win, but the bottleneck question in this post points somewhere else. Switching tools to shorten time to hire tends to work for the specific stage it targets, skills validation or grading, but the bottleneck has a habit of just moving to whichever stage doesn't have a tool yet, scheduling the final interview, or getting a hiring manager to actually review results promptly. The Indeed Hiring Platform pattern in the post is a good example of this. A huge applicant pool solves the sourcing problem, but reviewers note that manual screening doesn't fully go away; it just gets a bigger pile to work through.

Using the same tool for a warehouse hire and a specialized technical hire seems like it would strain in opposite directions, since volume roles need fast automated grading and technical roles need assessment depth, which a generic test doesn't really provide. For teams splitting by role type, the more useful comparison probably isn't which tool is best overall; it's which tool actually removed a step for that specific hiring pattern rather than just moving the bottleneck downstream.
