No exchange server so many Outlook functions don't work. You won't, for example, be able to sync your Outlook calendar or contacts across your devices using their service. Their native email service if you don't bother with Outlook is very clunky and difficulty to use. They are only open from 8am to 8pm eastern standard time which is useless when their servere goes down and you are not in an EST area. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
User-friendly, good customer service, inexpensive domains. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish I could renew my domain for the same discounted price I originally paid for it. (But to be fair, we're not talking outrageous pricing here. I just miss $12.99.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Email templates are easy to create and send. The ability to keep my work emails (which must be confidential) separate from my personal emails. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The platform is not user-friendly; it's difficult to create signatures, the way messages are sorted and stored is confusing, it's difficult to customize the text you send, there is no easy way to access it via mobile device. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This company has values that match my own. They support non-profits. Their customer service responds quickly and is top notch. Their search area of potential topics is robust and extensive. Since they are a very focused company they excel at what they do. It is very easy to connect domain with a hosting service. Ease of use is very solid, including user interface and instructions very anything needed. They support two-factor authentication. They give you zero reason to look anywhere else. Since they are so good, I wish their services were expanded. However, I would not want it to come at the expense of their current expertise and smooth processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The absolute best feature of Hover is that when you call, you immediately get connected with customer service. There is no talking to a machine that tries to understand speech, no pressing numbers to get connected to the correct department - instant human. Additionally, free domain privacy for any domains that support it, major benefit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For as smooth as the admin interface is, it could be a little better. They don't always support all the new TLDs that come out - but they do their best to add the new ones as quickly as they can. Sometimes they have to manually add a domain to your account because the system doesn't support the TLD. But that's very infrequent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
About 2 years ago we moved our domain's, both my personal and business, over to Hover. Hover makes it super easy to purchase new domains and easily configure the most used DNS settings. Domain/WHOIS privacy is extremely easy to set up, as well as transfer locks and auto renewal. Hover makes it really easy to setup subdomains. Though I haven't used the features, the Connect feature, which lets you attach your domain to popular services seems nice. The email features can also be added for an extra fee. I totally recommend the Domain Valet service. We switched 7-10 domains over all at once through this service. The customer service rep, Anet, was SUPER helpful. Anet moved all our domains from the previous provider with ease. Anet even sent me a postcard after our move to wish me Happy Holidays! Talk about customer appreciation! While Hover does support all of the most used DNS record types, they still do not support some of the less used ones. I would also like support for Dynamic DNS, (Changing the A record for a domain automatically) This has been talked about for a while on their message boards, but there has been no movement to implement this feature. Very simple domain registrar and DNS host. Their prices are reasonable, and they don't try to throw hundreds of up-sells at you as other registrars often do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The prices tend to be just slightly on the higher side, though they are still within a reasonable range.
The DNS user interface could use some work. The last time I had to use it, there were a few quirks. I've since switched to CloudFlare as my DNS host (my domains are still registered and renewed with Hover) so the interface may have improved since. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Hover really nailed it on everything. Buying domains on the site is easy and no frills - the minimal upsells are unobtrusive and clearly labelled (you're unlikely to accidentally end up with something you don't want in your cart. Security is great; TFA and login auditing are features that make me feel much more comfortable. The interface is as intuitive as it gets. Clear labelling, smart design, and creative use of space lets the site feel open and uncluttered while putting all the necessary tools at your fingertips. The DNS editor is simple and lightweight - something that's getting harder and harder to find these days. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mailboxes could use a little bit of work to make editing and setting them up a bit clearer, but it's not that bad as is. The renewal alerts could stand to be a bit more frequent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Hover is a no-frills, inexpensive, but solid and secure platform for managing my website registration and personal email Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Webmail platform is a bit clunky, the integration with iOS isn't the strongest and there are additional costs to connect with Google Apps. Overall, I'm not terribly pleased with my Hover email but expect it to improve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Hover domain registration and management is simple and that's why I use the service. I was using GoDaddy and was frustrated by how complicated it was to do simple tasks like update DNS, forwarding and changing nameservers. All the normal registering and DNS management on Hover are very simple and straight to the point without the constant upselling other services try. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be nominally more expensive than other services to register new domain names. This only bothers me when I register for spontaneous domain that I'm not sure what I plan on doing with it and just want it on the cheap. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It has a very good customer support. It's very easy and intuitive to use. Because it's fairly new in the market it doesn't show any ads. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a little bit on the expensive side but it does give the quality for the money. Plus hosting would have been another great commonly used feature which this one lacks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is one of the easiest domain registration sites I've worked with and they are nothing but helpful. They have also run smaller promotions on unique domain urls that can almost be too much fun to pass up on. Don't use GoDaddy. Use Hover. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I only dislike the fact that they do not have more users. I would love for them to become the staple for the domain registration service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There website and interface is spot on. They are incredibly pleasant to deal with and support is very responsive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The price is a little higher than competitors, but its worth it. They don't do hosting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Amazing customer service - thorough and followed up to make sure the problem was resolved. Minimalist layout - no clutter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Slightly more expensive than GoDaddy but absolutely worth it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
