The one downside for me is the AI portion. We have to make sure we explain to nurses that they need to be very specific when answering the questions. I like that HealthStream Jane uses learners’ answers to guide them toward an outcome and show where they can improve or where they scored highly. It isn’t a negative assessment, and I like that it gives them a score against the national average and a rationale. They look forward to taking the test or reassessment again, and their scores usually improve after clinical training. I find the assessment a helpful guide for improving clinical judgment. It’s easy to assign and access, and I can look at real-time data and review questions with learners. The interactive AI videos help them troubleshoot during scenarios, and they can apply the case studies to real patient cases. I’d like to see more variety in the questions based on state or unit. Some questions aren’t applicable to our population or unit, and some of the nationally based questions are broad. jane assesses knowledge and clinical judgement in an objective manner, and the ability to review knowledge and clinical judgement results for each caregiver is helpful. The ability to set up the pathways to provide a standard amount of development time by specialty across the organization is ideal to provide equitable assignments across our various hospitals and markets. It would be helpful if there was a view-only or other type of access for managers or preceptors to view the jane assessment results. Additionally some of the reports could be refined so they could be pulled by individual assessment and location. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The platform is user-friendly, and the initial training provided to learn the site’s functionality was very useful. One of the reasons we chose Jane is that you can see what the user missed, along with the correct answer, so we can review it with them after the assessment. One of my biggest complaints, as the coordinator for the assessment, is with the Clinical Judgement assessment. Many nurses get hung up on providing an actual medical diagnosis, and they often say that, as nurses, we do not diagnose. I appreciate how HealthStream Jane provides a knowledge base for our new hires. It gives a broad overview and helps create a better understanding for both the med surge nurses and us as educators. One thing that's a little challenging is when HealthStream Jane automatically assigns work to new hires. It's tough, especially for those new to practice or recent graduates, because they already have a lot on their plate. Jane has helped elevate our team by being able to do a consistent assessment of baseline knowledge for all staff and provide professional development that is individualized. We love the ability to have intentional conversations with hires about their knowledge and development. It is easy to use and the customer support has been great. I really like HealthStream Jane for its pathways feature, which automates the onboarding process for specific types of employees. Creating pathways that launch assessments in pre-built groupings saves me a lot of time. I also appreciate how the platform incorporates the clinical judgment process with videos and AI interactions, making it very helpful. The only thing I can really think of is that sometimes the test results when we're reassessing feel technically skewed. We have been unable to figure out how to work the Clinical Judgement assessments into our onboarding process, so feel are under-utilizing this feature.
