"The Dispatcher"
4/5
What do you like best about HCSS?

HCSS has always had a strong product offering for the construction industry, especially heavy civil. We have been using their Dispatcher software every day for 4 or 5 years now to manage and track a fleet of over 60 trucks and 300 pieces of equipment. Implementation of the program was very straightforward and simple, especially with their support team. Of all the software vendors we use, HCSS support has been among the best with prompt response and quick answers to our questions. The software has been easy to use and has features and functionality that we have yet to take advantage of. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HCSS?

Our only complaint about HCSS is an aesthetic one. The interface has a look and feel that seems a bit dated. It is nothing that affects the performance, just looks like it needs a graphics refresh. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"HCSS makes us more productive in the office"
5/5
What do you like best about HCSS?

HCSS has standardized our bidding process while allowing us to put together bids quicker and more accurately. Our number of bids per year has gone up tremendously after implementing heavybid. After Jobs are awarded we can track our projects more accurately with heavy job for job costing and the process is easy and accurate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great product (if you put in the work)"
4/5
What do you like best about HCSS?

My company has been using HeavyBid for years and have no complaints. Customer service is excellent. In the past year, we have started using HeavyJob as well. There is a lot of functionality, so it takes a lot of trial-and-error to set it up the way you want. We've been using it for nearly a year and I feel like we're about 98% there. The integration with our ERP is pretty tight, but is what's taking us so long. We may use Vista differently than most, because the canned integration had to be tweaked quite a few times. The products themselves are very user-friendly. Several employees use both products daily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HCSS?

The only cons I can think of are the price (along with annual 5% increases), and the fact that they prioritize development of their iOS app above the Android version. As a Samsung shop, we cannot use Production Planner unless we replace our entire fleet of tablets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about HCSS?

HCSS has many tools that all integrate together! It makes things so nice that they communicate well. The support is out of this world too! Always answer and will dig in and find the fix! We use ebid, field, safety and e360 frequently! every day! It is user friendly. Implementing with them has been a breeze. They help and troubleshoot until it's ready. Always friendly and greet you with a smile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HCSS?

Not sure there is a downside. It seems costly at times, but it is well worth it! They take the guessing out.

The idea webpage...no one knows to vote for your suggestion...while this is a firm and strong idea, it definitely needs work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great integration, from bidding, project management, to safety."
4.5/5
What do you like best about HCSS?

HCSS greatly reduces the amount of rework involved with estimating and running projects. It is a great tool for establishing data bases with your historic bid, productivity, and cost data. Customer service has always been top notch, although there may be a few hiccups or unavailable features as they are developing a new product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HCSS?

The cost is not insignificant, however we feel it is certainly worth it. There may be a barrier to entry to some smaller construction operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about HCSS?

As an HCSS customer for over 10 years, there are many things I like about HCSS. One of the biggest values is how all of their programs seamlessly integrate together. Not only do they integrate well with one another, but we have also had great success in integrating them with other programs we use like our ERP and HRMIS systems. This allows for sharing of data and information like never before. Another value is the ease of use in using the various programs, from our field team to upper management, everyone is able to get value from the HCSS programs. I can't say what I like about HCSS without mentioning their great customer support. With most other software providers, I dread calling support for fear of getting stuck on the phone for hours trying to resolve an issue, with HCSS I know anytime I call I will quickly be connected with a support technician that will have my issue resolved quickly. What do you dislike about HCSS?

Over the 10+ years of using all of the HCSS programs, it at times is obviously apparent that not all of their programs get as much attention as the others when it comes to upgrades and improvements. I dislike how little improvements have been made with HCSS DIspatcher, it still feels like a program from the early 00's. I also wish they invested more in their telematics offerings and looked at companies like Tenna and the various GPS devices they offer for the wide range of equipment used on construction sites. For example, a solution to use on devices without power, one that can be used on equipment attachments, etc. Tenna has done a great job at finding solutions to serve the various needs of the construction industry and I feel HCSS has fallen behind. If we were not so invested in HCSS and HCSS Telematics already, Tenna would have gotten our business. I hate feeling "stuck" with HCSS Telematics and wish they were as innovative with new solutions like Tenna. The last thing I want to mention is the lack of updates made to HCSS Academy and training. Many new updates come out and the training is not available or updated to match these changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Productive, easy to use, and insightful"
5/5
What do you like best about HCSS?

The most beneficial part of HCSS is the integration between actual production and the bid. I use HeavyBid on a daily basis, and refer to our production from HeavyJob for most of our Bid Items. It didn't take long for our employees to begin using the software, and when hiring new employees, the transition is relatively quick. It is not often that I need support, but when it is necessary, they answer the phone in just a couple rings, and I actually get to speak with a live agent that speaks English natively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HCSS?

All data is only as good as the users input. This is not an issue with the software, only that sometimes the production data is not always accurate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best customer service expirince I have ever had with a company"
4.5/5
What do you like best about HCSS?

I use HCSS every day for their E360 software which allows my mechanics to track their time, create and collaborate on work orders in real-time, and update equipment hours and miles company-wide in our fleet. If there are ever any issues I can call the fleet technical support line and get a real person within seconds every time no matter the time of day. This is huge for us that we are not wasting time trying to fumble through software issues or new features we just aren't sure how to use yet. New features in HCSS are easy to set up and if any issues are integrating the system the customer service team is more than happy to help you walk through the necessary steps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HCSS?

HCSS is an iOS system, so it's really only made to be used with IPADs. I understand this is so they can have the best possible operation and focus on one specific area, but I'm an Android lover. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
