The lack of useful links between email and document databases. Literally in a few hours a server can be setup - and a fully functioning xpage form application can be capturing data, and passing it through your workflow. - and it scales easily to hundreds of thousands of documents. Full JavaScript, JAVA, LotusScript and C API to process forms / documents workflows all within a robust security framework, lets you collaborate and integrate with almost any system on the planet that has an API. **What do you dislike about HCL Domino?** It take a little bit to learn about how it works. It is a document database very similar to mongodb - you have to know the key differences between a relational data store and a document data store. Also dislike that marketing is poor, its as if they have never used it. **What problems is HCL Domino solving and how is that benefiting you?** Customer support, Product Documentation, Policies and Procedures are just a few things we use Domino for. It integrates and communicates with our end-user platform (MongoDB) and Stripe (payment gateway) We could use a hubspot and bunch of other expensive tools, but it would be a haphazard mess of websites that are very difficult to collaborate with and are virutally uncustomizable. Having a RAD (rapid application development) tool that can scale to tens/hundreds of thousands of users and still keep requirements low is a winner. The TCO gets lower and lower the more applications you build on the platform and applications are naturally communicating over a unique and integrated information access mode. **What do you dislike about HCL Domino?** Domino is great for keeping applications running forever, for this reason many customers and partners have not invested in refresh-cycles or UI evolution. Many claim Domino applications are ugly.. that's not correct. Domino application are as beautiful as you build it. Often apps built in year 2000+ are around, working like a charm but showing their age. People often "dream" that starting over with the app will save their time & effort. This is a completely wrong assessment. **What problems is HCL Domino solving and how is that benefiting you?** With domino we have built and continue to build integrated knowledge and workflow applications. Our Email system, CRM, Project management systems and Document archives are on Domino. Using domino extensibility we have integrated for customers all kind of external systems ranging from SAP to Salesforce to ad-hoc internal apps or even banking systems. The multi-faceted app-dev modes of domino (Notes Client, Nomad Web/iOS/Android, Web application and rest services) offers us a vertically integrated app-dev stack that includes Identity management (both inside the company and for third parties), Data services (NSF storage, multi-master replication and server-client replication with offline applications capabilities), Interactive (Client & Web) user experiences and batch services (trigger based, time based Agent manager). ### 30. So, it's a little disappointing. **What problems is HCL Domino solving and how is that benefiting you?** A basic and advanced mail tracking system with detailed ACL management and excellent usage control capabilities. Easy and fast access to application data. **What do you dislike about HCL Domino?** A very, very outdated development environment. Debugging tools also require significant modernization. Not everywhere in the development environment there are tips on the methods and parameters of custom classes. Not all design elements support inheritance. Not all design elements allow labels to be defined via @Forlula, which makes it difficult to localize the application. Work with the user's calendar is not fully disclosed and implemented.
