# What's the best sales engagement platform with advanced workflow automation for teams running complex multi-step sequences?

Hello G2 users! I'm exploring options for the best sales engagement platform with advanced workflow automation for teams running complex multi-step sequences. Basic sequences are table stakes at this point. The real differences show up when the motion gets more complex and things like branching logic, governance across reps, and per-step analytics start to matter.

Things that seem to define "advanced" for this use case, based on what practitioners flag:

Branching sequence steps based on engagement signals, not just fixed timing

Per-step analytics that live inside the platform without needing to export

Admin controls to keep governance clean when multiple reps run sequences at once

Realistic setup time before the system actually runs the way the team needs

Platforms that come up most for this:

Outreach: Reviewers managing SDR teams call out the sequence precision and per-step engagement visibility. Steep learning curve though, new users consistently describe weeks before the interface properly clicks.

Salesloft: Cadence creation is fast and day-to-day workflow clarity for reps is a consistent strength. Some reviewers find it too prescriptive for non-linear selling motions.

HubSpot Sales Hub: Accessible workflow builder that doesn't require a dedicated RevOps person. Gets harder to manage when sequences need real branching logic.

Apollo.io: Capable for email-heavy multi-touch sequences. Per-step analytics require manual export if you're optimizing at a granular level.

If your team runs genuinely complex sequences, what's the gap you've actually hit? And for anyone on Outreach or Salesloft, how long before the system was running the way you needed it to?

Branching on engagement signals is only as smart as the signals, and opens are the shakiest one to branch on mail privacy features and bot prefetch can register opens the prospect never made. So a branch like "opened twice → move to warm path" can quietly route cold prospects into the follow-up meant for interested ones. Would be useful to hear which triggers teams actually trust for branching, beyond opens.
