# Best OCR Software for Document Automation and Data Extraction for Enterprise Teams

I've been comparing OCR and intelligent document processing platforms on OCR software for teams big enough that manual data entry has become a real bottleneck, and three stand out on both G2 Score and how enterprise-heavy their review base actually is.

Laserfiche (4.7 stars, 1,248 reviews) leads the Grid with a 91 G2 Score, and 312 of its reviewers work at companies with more than 1,000 employees. Reviewers describe redesigning entire paper-based workflows around it, with strong audit trails and automation that scales across departments. The tradeoff several mention is cost and complexity once you're running most of the add-on modules, navigating how they all interact can get tricky.

ABBYY Intelligent Document Processing (4.3 stars, 81 reviews) posts an 85 G2 Score and reviewers consistently describe reliable data extraction that cuts manual entry on large document volumes, with solid RPA integrations (UiPath, SharePoint) for enterprise workflows. Setup and configuring extraction rules for new document types takes real time upfront, and a few reviewers note the cost is a bigger lift for smaller organizations trying to hit ROI quickly.

Rossum (4.5 stars, 127 reviews) sits at a 70 G2 Score and reviewers repeatedly credit it with cutting AP processing time dramatically, some report automating 80 to 85% of their invoice workflow. It's also ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certified. The rough edges reviewers flag are a 50MB dataset limit and no mobile app, worth checking if your document volumes run large.

For a team this size, does the depth of Laserfiche's ecosystem matter more than how fast ABBYY or Rossum get you to a working extraction model?

OCR reviews on G2 for Rossum specifically back up its automation rate claims across multiple unrelated accounts. The eighty-plus-percent automation figure isn't just one enthusiastic customer's number; several separate reviewers independently report landing in that same range on their own invoice or order workflows, along with concrete before-and-after descriptions like a full day of manual processing dropping to under an hour a week. The two limitations the post already flags, a dataset size cap and no mobile app, show up just as consistently across reviewers, which is a useful confirmation that the tradeoffs are real and not isolated complaints.
Laserfiche's complexity, once several add-on modules are running, is really a different kind of cost than Rossum's, since Laserfiche's tradeoff is architectural complexity at scale, while Rossum's is closer to a hard technical ceiling, dataset size, that either fits a team's document volume or doesn't. The post's own question about ecosystem depth versus speed to a working model is probably answered by document volume specifically, a smaller AP team hitting Rossum's automation numbers quickly might outweigh whatever additional depth Laserfiche's broader ecosystem offers for that team's actual needs.
