  ### 1. Simple Event Setup, Responsive Support, and Easy Year-to-Year Copying

**What do you like best about Greater Giving?**

I like that it is pretty simple to set up your website and add supporters and sales as people register for your event. Customer support is always available and they are quick to respond and are very helpful. I like that this software works for both an event with and without an auction component. I also like that it has the built in capability to give donors the option to cover the credit card processing fee. Once you have your event set up, you can just continue copying that event each year instead of starting from scratch. When a new registration comes in, the system is helpful for matching them to an existing profile or adding them as a new user.

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

I wish that you could make edits on the actual website page and then make changes on the backend without it undoing everything I changed on the website. Also, we had some issues with doing checkout for the auction the night of our event, but in the end we were able to work everything out.

**What problems is Greater Giving solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to have a silent auction fundraiser that people can bid on in person and from home.

**What do you like best about Greater Giving?**

The organizational segmented model of Greater Giving is very user friendly. I appreciate the convenience and ease in using their customer service outreach, they are attentive and professional in their help and responses. When we decided to begin using Greater Giving, it was an easy on-boarding experience. When it comes time to use the platform for our event, I am using Greater Giving daily. I also appreciate the variety of report templates that are offered and well as the ease of navigation from one tab or feature to another.

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

The only drawback is the increase in online fees and credit card usage fees.

**What problems is Greater Giving solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The event platform portion has been easy to understand and navigate throughout the website and not have to travel down rabbit holes in order to execute the actions needed.

**What do you like best about Greater Giving?**

Greater Giving makes the events at the high school run smoothly. GG offers resources for almost everthing related to event success, and I can't imagine our golf outing and dinner/auction without its resources. I that I can create a website for registration, keep guest information on file, run reports, and easily customize sponsor and registration packages. The site was super easy to learn for me.

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

There are downsides to the limitations of building a website. As a person with a design background, I wish I could upload larger file sizes to make my pages more aesthetically appealing. Being able to drop a video or multiple (not just one) pictures that are also links on a page would be nice. 

Also, I received great customer service until the past few months - customer service was not responsive. In the past, I could call Greater Giving at any time, and a representative would answer/talk me through the steps to make sure I knew what I was doing. This year, our site had a  problem, and no representive would answer the phone for days. The online chat bot or person I finally got in contact with after numerous days of trying then tried to blame our server rather than figure out the problem. It was disappointing. We pay a lot of money for GG, money such as service fees from our events go toward GG, and I would appreciate better response. I was extremely concerned the night of that if there were a problem, no one at GG would anser.

**What problems is Greater Giving solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Greater Giving modernized auction bidding by allowing our school to go from all paper to mobile and beyond the room for bidders.

**What do you like best about Greater Giving?**

It is very user friendly for setting up and managing projects of all kinds. The more you use it the easier it becomes as most of the products are similar in nature. The option of the project websites is versatile and fairly simple to create resulting in a professional and appealing public face. The prompts are clear and there is wealth of information in the library to access in various ways. Support is very responsive whether by chat or phone. It is my favorite platform to use and I recommend it to everyone I speak to about project/event platforms.

I use it daily during my event seasons and feel very supported as I create and manage my projects. It was also very easy to get started with this platform over one year ago. Integrating our database was easy and efficient.

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

A few of the defaults that cannot be changed within the website building and the JoinMe options are frustrating to work with. For some reason, many of my students have trouble building their individual fundraising pages.

**What problems is Greater Giving solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to streamline my ticketing, seating and fundraising in one place as opposed to having multiple payment/purchase options that have been used in the past.  It also allows for ease of tracking individual supporters/households to see ALL that they participate in on the platform.

It's the most widely used platform in Austin - so we can share resources and understanding with other local alike nonprofits here.

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

The customer support is terrible compared to GiveSmart, who staffed a rep to our account. The platform is highly uncustomizable - we are conducing our Ask off the platform bc it can't do what we need it to do (or at least no rep has been able to advise us how to use it). The 'edit page settings' 'vs edit on website' creates MASSIVE headaches if you are looking to make any changes to your site --> I've lost massive cosmetic changes multiple times bc a rep directed me to 'edit page settings.'  There's a massive disparity between reps - I've had 1 good experience with a rep but mostly their answer is 'no' or 'I don't know.'

The auction part is fine. The fundraising part - the Ask - is a nightmare for our event. And the event management and backend is super clunky.

**What do you like best about Greater Giving?**

I like that I can not only track donors, but I can also track sponsors for our events. I can send notifications to participants without having to create a separate database in my donor management system. Also, I am able to close out auction on a pre-set schedule without having to watch the clock, then with the touch of a button, payments are received. The more I use Greater Giving, the more ways I find to make events easier to manage!

I would like it to integrate with my donor management system.

One of the biggests complaints about our auction was check out. With Greater Giving, we capture needed donor information ahead of time. Now, there is no need to wait in line to settle up at the end of the event. And with the online auction, donors can participate from anywhere, know where their bid stands, and the auction can be closed with a pre-set timer. 

We also used Greater Giving for an awareness walk.  We captured t-shirt sizes so ordering them was easy. 

With both events, we could share information with donors without having to create a separate database. Greater Giving allows me to enjoy the events without having to continously collect payment information, add up bids and collect payments or call donors because they forgot to provide critical information.

**What do you like best about Greater Giving?**

Greater Giving allows for multiple users, is easy to learn, produces valuable reports, and is an all-in-one tool for our fundraising events. It handles registration, check-in, and the check-out procedures easily and generates all of the supporting documents. The technical support is always available and willing to help with any issues. This is an excellent program for a reasonable price.

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

Setting up the website was a little challenging because some of our pictures and files were too big but we figured it out with some trial and error. Other than that, I haven't really found a downside to Greater Giving.

**What problems is Greater Giving solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Greater Giving organizes all of our fundraising data in one program. That's a huge benefit for pulling reports and comparing the success of our different events. This makes it easy to pull the financial information when we need to prepare our budget and our annual report.

They have great customer service.  I like that you can copy a project that occurs every year.  Having all the reports is a great feature.

I have trouble explaining to people how to use the "bid more" feature.  I wish it would have the feature like other company where if 2 people are bidding it will keep going.  I wish I could add pictures from previous event on to my website page.

If you are looking for a cost-effective, comprehensive event fundraising platform, look no further. Greater Giving has put all the pieces into one place to ensure that your event will be a success. There are a lot of options, but GG makes it easier to manage with it in one place.

There is a little learning curve when learning how to use greater giving. However, once you learn it, it become simple to use and doesn't slow down your success.

Greater Giving is an easy fundraising tool. When I encounter something I have trouble with - setting up webpage or other technical things the Tech Support can always walk me through it an help!

Would like the webpage to be easier to set up.

We run our donation page through Greater Giving and have it linked to our webpage. So easy and I get the donation the following week. It is so easy to run my events and auctions through.

The webinars! They're so helpful! I watched so many of them to learn how to navigate the software and I loved having them all right there when I needed to go back and do something again.

During our silent auction some of our winning bidders got a notification that they had been outbid. Since they didn't think they won they left the event. We then had to call and tell them they won and find a time to get their items to them. W

We were able to reach a wider audience this year with Greater Giving. People could buy their tickets online, in years past we sold physical tickets. And the auction reached more people than were just at the event!

How much the staff is willing to help out when you have issues or need guidance on how to do something. For the most part, it is easy to figure out on your own.

Had some issues with duplicated charges for our event and it was taking a while to get resolved, but once we got someone to reach out it was resolved quickly.

They are making it easy to manage auction items and closing out auctions at the end of the day.

**What do you like best about Greater Giving?**

The most helpful thing about GG is the reporting of all sales and rsvps. I have used spreadsheets previously in capturing sponsorships and RSVPs and doing table assignments. The system is set up to help you do this and certain reports make the job easy. It takes time, but it was amazing and accurate when complete. I also loved how pretty everything is....the platform is glossy, professional looking and intuitive. Overall pretty user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

My least favorite aspect of GG is having a silent auction only available online. These are my issues:

1. When guests walk into an event, once they get through registration, most prefer not to have to spend more time, especially on the phone, creating a login and pw to bid.
2. The login process is cumbersome (as it would be for anything), but on top of that, we have been to 3 events that use GG, and GG remembers our email address, but expects us to remember our password (who remembers those?), or to set up a new one, which my husband and I both tried to do and it kept spitting us back out to either "forgot your password?" or a previous GG event, NOT the one we were attending in that moment. We almost didn't bother trying to bid because it was such a pain. We tried again, working off our registration  welcome link (vs the link that had been shared pre-event) and it finally worked.
3. People 60 and over. many of whom have the deeper pockets, don't like or trust online giving.
4. When I personally attend a social function, I want to visit and interact, either with my plus one, or with other guests. I don't like being glued to my phone to shop or keep bidding on the silent auction. I also like the actual pen and paper aspect of a silent auction because you can see who you're bidding against and that's part of the entertainment for some.
5. All of the silent auctions I have been to that used this had issues when you got "to the end" of the auction items, it takes a few seconds to refresh to see the next section of items  (like you used to get to the end of Facebook and have to refresh, especially with bad wifi). The problem is if you don't know there are more items, you might not wait that few seconds; you just assume you're at the end. This was especially frustrating in one venue, where we had great wifi, but slow refresh. Several of our items at the end had very low winning bids because not everyone saw them. We learned this because people were looking for a certain item, and complained that it wasn't on there.
6. When you get outbid, you are texted with the # of the auction item, but no description. If you have bid on a lot of items, and are interrupted by people, food or program, you have NO IDEA what you got outbid on. It's overwhelming, you skip it and when everyone does that, fewer bids happen.

Solutions:
1. Login process could/should be simplified. 
2. Either remember us from event to event or delete all logins and pw post-event, so you have to start fresh at every event.
3. I'm not sure this problem is solvable.
4. Can you figure out a way to accommodate online and paper silent auction bidding seamlessly? I bet it can be done!
5. This particular problem made me very frustrated with GG. More so than with the login. Especially since we had good wifi.
6. Can name of package be included with the package # in the text that says you've been outbid?

Ticket sales, tracking of dollars raised, guest list, etc. are all simple with the GG platform.

**What do you like best about Greater Giving?**

I can manage my auction, ticketing, seating chart, donations and sponsorships in one platform that is web based and offers an online auction platform. I have used Auction Tracker paired with a mobile bidding supplier and it was unwieldy and a pain to transfer over right before the auction. I have used Raisers Edge Events module for ticketing and sponsorships and would prefer to use that but they do not offer an auction component and so we made a conscious decision to use Greater Giving even though I have to do a lot of transferring of information into Raisers Edge after the event. Customer service through chat is great and very helpful if I have an issue.

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

The learning curve is very steep with Greater Giving bc as a database it has some significant idiosyncrasies that if you do not know about them ahead of time you can make some serious mistakes in setting up your auction/gala. I am not a web designer so my event websites tend to look rather plain compared to the sample ones. They are functional. The reporting is not ideal because in order to import my guest list and who actually attended/checked in  into Raisers Edge I had to use two different exports and combine them with a vlookup.
I do use the recommended reports but I also wish that I could get information just in CSV format instead of a Crystal Reporting type of formatting even with an excel export.

**What problems is Greater Giving solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can manage my complete event on GG. I used to have three different systems to manage our large gala auction - auction item tracking, silent auction bidding, and ticketing.

Greater Giving is incredibly user-intuitive. When I'm training volunteer teams, I know it's just going to take a few minutes to get them up to speed on event night.

The back-end could use a little more customization abilities, but generally it does all I need it to do.

I've been using GreaterGiving for years and wouldn't use anything else for our events! It's the most user friendly, great customer service too.  The ability to swipe credit cards and pair them with bidder numbers is essential to a smooth event. The reports, the pre-made forms, all the guides - SO helpful!

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

I really can't think of anything that isn't working well. If I can't figure something out, I just chat or call customer service and always get help quickly. Maybe improve the functionality of some things like silent auction signs so they could be edited to add graphics. That's the only improvement I can think of!

**What do you like best about Greater Giving?**

The GreaterGiving event software has a plethora of useful features in one place. You can sell tickets, import buyers, set them up to bid in an auction, assign seating, manage your auction, process credit cards, and more, all in one place. There are multiple options for how to run your auction, and so many helpful reports available all in one place. For the last 4 years, we have also added their mobile bidding software to our package, which has helped to further streamline our gala fundraiser, eliminating the need to run around and grab auction sheets for 100+ items, and then hastily enter the information before guests want to leave. Eliminating this step has actually freed us up to create other fundraising opportunities during our event!

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

The system is not as intuitive to use as I wish it were, and sometimes it can be a barrier when bringing in new team members to help with an event. That said, the support team is wonderful, so when I get stuck, help is just a phone call away. Additionally, there have been times when I wish the system would work in a certain way, and it just doesn't. (Example: I would like the fundraising thermometer to include certain items, and it simply will not.) My only other complaint, and it is minor, is that the payment pages look a little dated when compared to other online fundraising platforms, but I have seen improvements in this area recently.

**Recommendations to others considering Greater Giving:**

If you are looking for an event management system that can handle many facets of an event in one place, I highly recommend considering Greater Giving. While the learning curve is a steep one, it's better than having to access multiple systems to run a large event.

**What problems is Greater Giving solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GreaterGiving allows us to manage all events in one place, rather than having to deal with multiple software systems. Allowing us to sell tickets, collect donations, and manage our auction in one place really helps to streamline our events. Additionally, the number of reports available allows us to always find the information that we are looking for. I have looked at other event management systems, but it seems that they are always lacking some piece included with GreaterGiving. For example, they may help you manage your auction, but not include ticket sales. Or include ticket sales, but not the option to assign seating in a way that can easily be sent to a caterer. GreaterGiving allows us to manage everything for our event in one place, and carry data over from year to year.

I love that all of my event elements are available 24/7 at the click of a mouse in real-time regardless of where I am.  With the pivoting of Covid 19 in the event industry, the greater giving platform has allowed us to move our auction online in a very user friendly format.

There is only one element that I am missing with greater giving and my golf tournament.  If tee times were an option, it would be the icing on the cake.

They know their product very well and in the rare occurrence they don't know an answer, they figure out how to get an answer. They are very quick to respond and I truly love their commitment to customer service.

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

The back end of the events needs a lot of work. It simply isn't the most intuitive and some complications can occur pretty easily, either overwriting old settings or leading you to think you did something properly and when you get to a different aspect of the auction you realize everything needs to be reworked. However, that challenge is remedied by the excellent customer help that I mentioned earlier.

**Recommendations to others considering Greater Giving:**

Greater Giving is a good option if you like to make things your own and really make a memorable experience. You can also use them for a more generic cookie cutter template, but I think the flexibility is a great strength of their platform compared to others. They have also recently redone their graphical treatments and they look very nice. Their staff was very easy to work with, very understanding, and very flexible.

**What problems is Greater Giving solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We did our school's annual auction, which was traditionally entirely in-person, completely virtual in April 2020, and Greater Giving allowed us to make that event happen. We simply would not have been able to raise money for our school in such a big way without that platform. We had planned on using Greater Giving for the in person event, but once we went entirely virtual, that really provided us the benefit we needed.

Greater giving event services helped with our virtual gala and made transitioning from in person to online easy! They helped with volunteers, auction, and made for a smooth event

I loved how friendly and knowledgeable greater giving staff were! They made the event a breeze!

The pricing was a little high but most certainly worth it. I'd definitely Get them again if I had the chance

**What do you like best about Greater Giving?**

I love how user friendly this platform is. I love how organized it keeps us and how easy it is to run an auction with Greater Giving. We went from a very old database system with paper bid sheets that were entered by hand to mobile bidding. It has been great.

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

I dislike the lack of customization with the auction website.

**Recommendations to others considering Greater Giving:**

If you are looking for the complete package in auction software then I would look into Greater Giving. They have been great to work with and they make running an auction event so much easier.

It sped up our checkout process by a ton. It solved so many organization issues we used to have. Also, with mobile bidding, it enabled us to reach a wider audience.

**What do you like best about Greater Giving?**

Their support team is quick, knowledgable and courteous.

**What do you dislike about Greater Giving?**

You cannot rotate a photo once it's been uploaded. So if a donor or a volunteer did not take the photo of the auction item the way GG required it, it showed up sideways in the system. And you didn't know it would be sideways until upload (even if it looks right side up in your phone). So that created some additional set up time.

**Recommendations to others considering Greater Giving:**

I was apprehensive about using a new system for our event as it's our largest fundraiser. But the ease of set up and the level of support provided was way above expectations.

**What problems is Greater Giving solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Adding a level of engagement outside of an in-person event. This allows our whole audience to view and bid on items rather than just those in attendance.
