We decided to do a giving day during 2020 pretty late in the game, but their project managers and support team helped us every step of the way and helped keep us on track as we planned for the day. We also find it user friendly for our donors and participating nonprofits. **What do you dislike about Bonterra GiveGab?** I just wish we were able to download reports of analytics from our giving day. Hopefully one day! **What problems is Bonterra GiveGab solving and how is that benefiting you?** It has given us a one stop shop for donors on giving day, and allowed us to give other nonprofits the opportunity to raise funds two. The ability to put as many seperate nonprofit donations into your cart at once and then check out has been essential. We have not found a year-round easy-to-use donation platform that we really like otherwise. ### 2. When I first started with GiveGab I had less than 2 months to prepare but the team that I had went straight to work to assist in the development of the website and creat the content for me. We have been able to add on a little piece each year to see what really workd for us and it has been amazing. If you are putting on a big event or raising money for many organizations, I think this should be your first and only stop. **What problems is Bonterra GiveGab solving and how is that benefiting you?** When Covid hit we needed to take our fundraising online and this was the product we were looking for. It does more than we needed it to do, but they worked with us to get it to fit our needs. They made it so easy and we have consistently raised more money every year than we were in the old version of in-person galas. ### 4. We didn't know the best way to get the word out and we probably didn't maximize our intake as a result. This platform has been easy to use and easy to edit or implement changes. Their customer service team is helpful and kind. We work them on our Idaho Gives Giving Day platform. This is a huge event for us and they have always provided us a level of support where we feel supported and comfortable. **What do you dislike about Bonterra GiveGab?** Through our Idaho Gives giving day, some folks want to speak on the phone for technical support. Currently Bonterra does not provide phone support. **What problems is Bonterra GiveGab solving and how is that benefiting you?** They are really the only platform that can host a giving day of this size. ### 6. The peer-to-peer function is a great added bonus that further expands our reach. I love the leaderboard function that adds a layer of competition between our campaign participants. So many functions and benefits that we enjoy about Bonterra. **What do you dislike about Bonterra GiveGab?** Bonterra is set up to have donations go directly to the organizations participating in our campaign. It would be nice if this was not required. If we, as the host/sponsor, could receive donations on other organizations behalf and disburse funds to them after the campaign, it would be helpful for some participants who do not have sophisticated financial management practices/systems. **What problems is Bonterra GiveGab solving and how is that benefiting you?** All participation from a large number of organizations across a whole state. Due to our large participant base across a large geographic area we cannot host a fundraiser that requires in peson event(s), but we can successfully execute an online fundraiser using Bonterra. ### 7. We have had a great year so far with our giving day and look forward to breaking records again due to their support. We also use the Philanthropy Hub product for our community and this has been a game changer. It's a great platform that we look forward to seeing become more robust through the next few years. **What do you dislike about Bonterra GiveGab?** I wish the reporting were more robust to see accumulative giving regardless of the nonprofit that a donor has given toward. This builds on awareness of organizations and helps them to aquire new donors. Each year, we break giving records. The platform is stable and, for the most part, is able to handle donor traffic throughout the giving day. The event team is always available to provide a stress-free experience. The app does not seem to work as well as the web platform. We had ambitious goals to grow our giving week significantly from previous years, and we truly couldnt have done so without our project managers and the staff at GiveGab. They helped us with everything from figuring out strategies to hit our goals, to building actual pages and donation flows, to encouraging and engaging our volunteers and beyond. It was like having an additional teammate to plan this event. I spent so much time sharing half-formed thoughts or visions with our RM and Rebekah helped figure out how to make them happen. **What do you dislike about Bonterra GiveGab?** As a new client, I found myself getting super lost in the back office and it wasnt always the most intuitive system for updating our pages... I would follow the instructions on the GG blog, but it wouldnt always update the page in the right way-- I ran into lots of formatting issues with images for example, and couldnt update them myself. Our RM always was able to quickly make the updates for us, but it was a little clunky in terms of going back on forth between the two of us on small tweaks that I could have done myself. All that to say, I would have loved to have had a basic intro training session on how to update pages and have some tips and tricks for how to navigate the back end. The plug in though Importacular to Raiser's Edge was a little confusing to set up-- it took multiple conversations with the Importacular folks to do so.. it should go more smoothly next year with a template, but it could have been easier. Finally (and this is very minor), in the back office on the donations tab... the scroll bar does not appear at the bottom of the window.. you have to scroll all the way down the page, and then you lose the headings. Super tiny and minor. **What problems is Bonterra GiveGab solving and how is that benefiting you?** GiveGab is helping us to leverage our very limited staff resources to make a huge impact on our campus and grow our base of supporters. They have built in engagement tools that are really easy to set up and dont take a ton of time, but offer unique and meaningful opportunities for our alums and donors to engage with us. It helps us blend and build a bridge between fundraising and engagement which is not always a given. ### 20. But seriously, there are no complaints. The customer service team has been very helpful to our team and all of the participants. The website is relatively easy to use- it has a few quicks but the GiveGab team works to improve it every year. **What do you dislike about Bonterra GiveGab?** Overall, the website is great, and we plan to continue using it. That being said, there are a few things that aren't ideal. It is a bit difficult to add more than one nonprofit donation to your cart if you want to search by cause and don't know all of the names. Additionally, the system receipts donors separately for each donation instead of consolidating them, which is a bit crazy when donors are giving to 10-30 organizations. Lastly, the search function needs some improvement. It searches based on profile and tagline over the name so donors can search a nonprofit by name and it doesn't come up at the top. It is user friendly from the donor perspective, and allows our organization to participate in fundraising opportunities organized by the larger nonprofit community at little additional effort to us. **What do you dislike about Bonterra GiveGab?** The lump sum payouts are not ideal. While they are fine a couple times a year on giving days, we like having a donation processing system that can integrate with other payments the organization receives (like ticket sales). The lump payout adds another series of steps for accounting that would be unsustainable year round. There is no way for a donor to submit new information, however; even if they enter a new address or email or other contact information, the contact information we receive as a participating nonprofit is often old, or whatever information they entered the first time they used GiveGab. Not sure if this glitch has been fixed since May 2020, when we last encountered it, but it was a nightmare when we first did. We were entering information into our CRM and overwriting existing records, assuming this was new info from donors, until someone on staff saw their own record and realized it was an address they had used for a Day of Giving several years ago, and not the one they had entered with their most recent donation. **What problems is Bonterra GiveGab solving and how is that benefiting you?** The giving thermometer is nice for tracking progress and incentivizing donors. ### 37. Don't be afraid to ask for help and throw your hand up. Also, (little things), I want to create a report that just pulls answers from all but only donation forms and not RFI forms - adding individual forms each time I create one, I inevitabley forget to add to the report making reconciliation a pain. **Recommendations to others considering Bonterra GiveGab:** DO IT!
