# AudienceView Professional vs ThunderTix: which theater venue management platform is better for seat selection and capacity management?

Quick take first: based on the reviews, ThunderTix reviewers describe fewer capacity and seating management complaints overall among theater venue management platforms, while AudienceView Professional reviewers describe a deeper, more layered seating and membership system that comes with a few more rough edges in the actual sales interface. Here's the fuller comparison for seat selection and capacity management specifically.

AudienceView Professional: reviewers describe genuinely flexible seating layouts, including the ability to kill seats for sale so a room doesn't look empty, but more than one reviewer specifically flagged not being able to see the entire seating map at once during a sale, which is a real friction point for exactly this use case.

ThunderTix: reviewers describe interactive seating charts, seat holds, and accessible seating options built in, with one reviewer's only real complaint being that they wished they could edit seating charts themselves rather than needing support to make changes.

For anyone who's actually run seat selection through both of these: did AudienceView's extra layering of seat types and killed seats actually help you manage a tricky room, or did ThunderTix's more straightforward seating chart end up being easier to manage day to day?

Both carry real friction, it just sits at opposite ends of the workflow. AudienceView gives you power to configure, killed seats and layered types, but reviewers can't see the full seating map while selling, which is a live pain during a rush. ThunderTix gives a cleaner sale but you need support to edit a seating chart yourself, which is a plan-ahead pain. So it comes down to which moment you can least afford friction: which cost you more, waiting on support to change a chart, or not seeing the whole room mid-sale?
