## GIMP Reviews
  ### 1. Accessible Open-Source Editing Software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

GIMP is a powerful free and open-source graphics editor that is a great alternative if the most popular software is out of your price range. It parallels many of the features of the higher ticket programs and is a solid solution for the hobbyist or if you're looking to perform routine edits. It is easy to download and install.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Due to the open-source and free nature, you're bound to encounter some glitches along with some lagging updates. It doesn't always have all the bells and whistles, but it has the basics and can get the job done. Also, with any software, there is a learning curve to using it and I found that there weren't as many resources for learning it as there are with some other products.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GIMP was our starter program to perform proof of concept on some of our design work before investing in more advanced software. We used it for editing and retouching raster images for digital and physical products.

  ### 2. A solid image editing software for beginners

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

I have been using gimp for 12 years and since the start itself it was really user friendly, the UI is great, tools have improved quite a lot, and the added plugins improve the usability

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Nothing i could say , for a novice user like me this is even better than learning photoshop. There used to be a bug that is gimp crashing while startup but now it's corrected and updated

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Editing photos, making logos, photo resizing , background changing, layers, adding gradients, touching up the image and all.

  ### 3. Review of GIMP

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deepak M. | Communications Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

For a free tool, GIMP is powerful enough for most raster image manipulation purposes. New features are added all the time, and there are plenty of tutorials available online for any image manipulation task one may wish to perform.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

There is a learning curve and those who may be used to Corel Photopaint may need to unlearn certain ways of doing things.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GIMP helps in image manipulation such as background removal, image effects, lighting effects, etc.

  ### 4. Imagen editor

Control elaborated projects and extra functions.
Compatible OS Windows and Linux.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Improve the documentation of tools for a better work of new users.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Correction of colors, backgrounds, colors and frames for publications and professional editing.
Image control and connect backgrounds.

  ### 5. Such a good photo editor you wont believe its free

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe G. | Head of Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

Great selection of tools that are as good as premium editors you pay a lot for monthly.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Nothing so far love it! We recommend it to friends and clients.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to edit a large random of graphics before we laser engrave them on chopping boards and slate. This software does a great job every time.

  ### 6. Best editing software for beginners!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ebony G. | Freelance Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

My favorite part about GIMP is that it is accessible to all users. Also, I love that GIMP gives you a massive variety of tools to use and effects!

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Sometimes when using a vast photo, it does seem to lag while loading up the image, but after the image is uploaded, there are no issues!

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many beginners do not have the means to purchase most high-end editing software; with GIMP, you can get the experience of a high-end editor at a lower price!

  ### 7. GIMP- An obvious choice for photo retouchers and digital artist

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

1. GIMP has a customizable and flexible interface.
2. I like its foreground selection tool and retouching tools allowing me to retouch photos promptly and get professional results.
3. I like its feature of adding layer masks, and grouping layers together.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

GImp doesn't currently support full CMYK color modes, so all your images are edited in the RGB color space and thus may not properly display if you want to print your work. It also lacks in non-destructive editing feature.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. I used it to edit and improve the visual quality of social media posts and it significantly improved the traffic.
2. GIMP also contains a plugin for Photoshop.

  ### 8. Unbelievable that this software is free and just keeps on improving

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve C. | Web Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

Powerful features that you would expect with expensive photo editing software that are here for free!

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Nothing so far really pleased with GIMP and I'm long term user.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As web designers we hand over websites to our clients once completed. Our clients then need to update their own websites making graphics and adding content. They don't want to buy expensive photo editing software and this is what we recommend for free.

  ### 9. Excellent open source image editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elisabeth B. | Accounting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

- Opensource software - lots of support and resources available (for free!)
- Interface is similar to other image editors, making it easy to convert skills
- Functionality sufficient for all basic image editing needs I have had, from goofy picture edits to serious image manipulation for marketing and web purposes

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

- Menus include many options, which means the one you need may be buried under a few levels. This can make it cumbersome to pick up and require Googling to find the options you need.
- It's a very full-featured program, which means it's pretty complex and detailed. It's not an easy one to learn your way around quickly.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use GIMP any time that I need to do image manipulation work. This is a quick solution to edit the proportions of someone's profile photo for a team website page, or change colors to match current branding, or add a wizard hat as part of a custom thank-you to a coworker whose wizardly solutions you're thankful for. GIMP, in short, lets you take an image and tweak it in minor ways that make it fill your needs best.

  ### 10. Best 3d text and pictures editing, side adjustment

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mazhar H. | ICT Solution Delivery Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

Image editing / shrinking and growing on various sides which I like the most

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

The selection tool needs to be refined more

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are lots of features that I admire as open source. I mostly use for image alignment for fixing the angle

  ### 11. Loaded with features and lots of support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

GIMP is like Photoshop, without the hefty price tag associated. It can do almost anything you need for digital image manipulation and processing, and has tons of features and add-ins that make it indispensable.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

For someone coming from Photoshop, the user interface can take some getting used to. There are also some features missing, and it may be a bit more unpolished (e.g. bugs) than Photoshop. However, for the price it is hard to beat.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For image processing and manipulation, GIMP is helpful. For example, producing figures for papers and presentations, performing pixel-level analysis of images, some types of image processing such as thresholding, FFTs, etc.

  ### 12. I'm a huge fan of Adobe, but this took the crown.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenny B. | Bookkeeper, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

The best part about gimp is it's always allowed it's user to make custom brushes, custom patterns and do be honest that's the words that's important. They allow for you to to customize nearly every single feature there is or upload something that another user has created.

It's give me the ability to be more artistically creative.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Oh the learning curve after updates. Awful, just awful. No in software tutorial to assist. It's another go online to their website and read, watch videos and figure it all out all over again. Drives me crazy.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

This photoshop software has a strong learning curve, but it's worth it. Just have patience, look on YouTube and in the end you will never use Adobe again.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's solving the gap that adobe left. That artist to developer conversation that adobe I feel doesn't do, gimp does. They listen, they give free creativity and not only that a free software. It benefits my artistic abilities and my pocketbook.

  ### 13. Won't Find Better Value

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Craig H. | VP of Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

GIMP has all the features you're looking for and they work great. The software scales well to everything from the command line to Windows 11. If you're looking for powerful, free photo-editing and manipulation, GIMP can do the trick.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

It will never feel as polished as Photoshop, but with Adobe endlessly making their software more cloud-based and internet reliant, I keep GIMP installed on all machines as the perfect Plan B. With a few plugins and enhancements, even the drawbacks of GIMP can be corrected.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is a photo editing software. It solves for reliance on Photoshop, quick photo editing, JPG compression, GIF manipulation, color correction and can definitely be used by photographers as well, although it lacks some of the lightroom features.

  ### 14. Perfect replacement for Photoshop

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pablo José R. | Single point of contact (SPOC), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

The learning curve coming from Photoshop is very flat. Allowing you to start to work inmediatly.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Sometimes customised toolbars lose their position, so you have to arrange them again.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reducing the cost of licences without losing options.

  ### 15. Free and open-source image editing software compatible with most operating systems

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sanket M. | Media Lead - CodeChef CGC Chapter, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

The best thing about GIMP is that it is compatible with most operating systems.
I was using Linux a while ago and was looking for an alternative to photoshop for editing images, and that's how I came across GIMP.
It is effortless to use and beginner-friendly. It does not support all the functionality as provided by Photoshop, but there are always workarounds for meeting requirements.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

The application has a basic design, and the icons are a little confusing to distinguish between different tools.
It requires a bit of experience of it to get used to the icons; till then, I had to hover over each to find the tool I needed.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

If you are looking for an easy-to-use image manipulation tool, this is a great option.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am not using GIMP on Windows and Ubuntu to edit my images and perform basic manipulations.
It has an excellent capability to work with images having a transparent background, and they are easy to manage.

  ### 16. You don't need Adobe Photoshop if you know Gimp

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hardik J. | Working Student, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

It is a free yet sophisticated tool to perform image editing, merging, annotation and manipulation.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

I wish there could have been more documentation available on the internet.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using GIMP to perform all sorts of image editing tasks for documentation and presentations.

  ### 17. The best alternative for adobe photoshop

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anoop T. | Research Scholar, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

Easy way to composite photos and generate raster images with in-house tools. It's totally open source and get updates at regular intervals.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

It is difficult to install in the windows operating system. It works flawlessly in Linux systems.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Graphic designing and photo editing

  ### 18. Effective and easy tool to edit my image files

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maryse G. | Operational Security Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

I like the ease of use to get a professional result with a free open source software. I say ease because, even if I don't know how to do a specefic task, there is plenty of documentation, either from their knowledge base or from other sources on Internet.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

The software can freeze sometimes and the only way out that I found yet is to shut down. Gimp. If I didn't save my work in a while, I lose everything. So I took the habit of saving often. For me this happened mostly when I try resizing a large image by a too big scale at once. So I do smaller increments and save at each increment.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Overall, I am very satisfied with Gimp as a free tool because as an artist painter, I'm using it to edit image files of my paintings taken by a pro photographer. I edit my images to make custom adjustment to fit as a beautiful print on different merchandise to sell on my website. I am very pleased with the quality and result I get. I need to finish with a crisp high resolution image because I would not accept a blurry result for print. I get excellent quality with Gimp without having to pay an expensive subscription and I always find easily how to do anything. It is perfect for my needs.

  ### 19. Free But Mighty.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathan M. | Multimedia and Audio Visual Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

A robust alternative to Photoshop. The ease of use and powerful tools make even the most advanced Photoshop users right at home. It is fantastic for creative on a budget.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Everyone once in a while you might find something that has not quite been carried over from photoshop in terms of tools, or techniques and you have to find another way to do something.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

If you are under a strict budget or you need someone to open your Photoshop files, give this a try.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me with clients who need to open my photoshop files but don't have Photoshop to open them. That way they are able to see on a later by layer basis what changes are needed.

  ### 21. Best Free Open-Source Image Editor

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nitishk G. | WordPress Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

Has all the important features which an image editor needs. If you're looking for a free alternative of Adobe Photoshop, you surely need to give Gimp a try! This image editor is very lightweight and takes only a few pinches of your RAM.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

User interface needs some work. Also, if user-friendly guides are present for newbies, it'd be really good. Also, if vector editing functionalities can be added, it will surely make it stand out!

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gimp provides most necessary image editing tools for free. It is simple to use and provides lots of tools that are paid in many other softwares. Also, as it is open source, the software is updated regularly with bug fixes and improvements.

  ### 22. Good tool for editing graphics

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vivek V. | Freelance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

GIMP is one of the best tools I ever used and it helps to be available in OS in which PS get hectic to get set up. It also has straight cut tools to perform our desired edits.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Some icons in the tool confuse and it is very scale icons that almost cover most of the workspaces. The area for improvement: Revising the icon design and reducing its scaling for a better user experience.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

You can make use of GIMP when you need to perform an image edit, as it won't get lag even if you have a low system configurations

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it helps in performing the quick edit other than waiting for some big tool to get it edited, also the best tool in Linux based OS. I have solved many quick image edits in GIMP.

  ### 23. Making photo editing a breeze

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philip N. | IT Programmer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2021

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

How easily Gimp is laid out, giving the user an easy to access set of tools and "How To" information. Easy to drag and drop any photo to begin editing. Works great in most any photo format I have needed to use so far.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

It is alittle slow when loading the software for the first time after a system boot. I walk into my office every morning, take my laptop out of my backpack, place it on the docking station and power it on. Once on I open my normal software I use and Gimp takes quite a long time to load up, but once it's loaded I'm good for the day with not so long waiting periods in between closing Gimp and reopening it later to use.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to create layouts of our Prisons that are not fully built yet, but make them look realistic so that I can program the electronic door control GUI for the Officer's to see an operator friendly display.

  ### 24. Community Involved Open Source

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maurice J. | Director, Safety, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

This is a great open source program for those unable to afford the more costly programs such as Adobe Photoshop and their Master Suite counterparts. Although there is a learning curve, the ability to do everything that these other software (i.e. Adobe PhotoShop) can do is unbelievable.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

In all honesty, there is very little to dislike about the software provided by GIMP.org. The fact it was created in an open source volunteer environment with very knowledgeable persons just mesmerizes the crap out of me. I could never achieve such feats.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GIMP has helped me create some wonderful images for friends, family, and even work. The wealth of knowledge on the internet in the form of blogs, forums and YouTube videos is a melting pot of lessons to be learned. The end results for a novice graphics person such as myself are wonderful.

  ### 25. A great way to edit photos if you don't have a budget for Photoshop

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike W. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2021

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

The software is free and has amazing capabilities. I utilize many of the basic editing tools because I am still a novice when it comes to editing photos. However, I also use some of the plugins that have been developed. For example, I use a plugin that allows me to batch-edit many photos at one time. This comes in handy when you have to apply the same filters and sizing options to more than just a couple of photos. I was using it to edit multiple photos for a real estate agency that had 20-50 photos of each house. I would auto-color correct and resize them using the batching program. Then, I would manually fix the couple of images that we liked and wanted to touch up afterward.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

The program can be a little confusing until you get your bearings. If I could make one recommendation, it would be to make the program a little more intuitive. Many times I have had to go watch a YouTube video to learn how to use the program.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

If you are used to using a photo editing program, like Photoshop, I believe that you will easily adapt GIMP. The other big and awesome perk is that GIMP comes to you at no cost. You get all of the available features that you love in other programs without the costs you have to endure with those other programs.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use GIMP when I need to make the same edits to several photos at one time. The batch editor plugin makes editing multiple photos quick and easy. I can run the plugin to edit a handful of photos, then go manually to edit the ones that need a little more attention. The other thing I use GIMP for, a lot, is to remove backgrounds from images. It is really easy to open GIMP and throw up a picture to remove a background. Once you remove the background, you can export the image in a PNG format and have a very good-quality image that has the background removed.

  ### 26. Great, Simple & Very Easy to Use Open Source Image Editor

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

- Outdates user Interface.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

If you are running a small business of graphic designing or photography then It is the best free open source software for your work. It is the best alternative to Adobe products. It will save you hundreds of dollars. I highly recommend you GIMP for image manipulation and image enhancing work. It is not an advanced software like Adobe Photoshop but it will be a better alternative to Adobe Photoshop for basic image editing works.

This design software can be used to create and edit images; in addition to that, with all the excellent tools that it has, we can make photographic retouching, composition, or conversion of image formats, we can also add extensions and complements that add new characteristics such as retouching or do restorations and effects, in addition to the fact that it has a vast community that is always working on the development of new extensions and tutorials which helps to manage this program at a more advanced level

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Some of the primary functions are different from using other similar design programs; besides that, I would like it to have a more intuitive view for new designers.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

I recommend this program for designers who want to achieve extra details in their projects since it has many accessories and extensions, as well for those who are interested in restoring or retouching photographs.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this program for the editing of images that we insert in our articles on our sites and also for the creative design of the images that we use in our health videos; most of them are essential medical advice and tutorials as well as general well-being care Personal, the pictures that we edit are always of a medical theme that is used for study or consultation, we generally use composition or retouching tools, as well as image format change tools to make them adaptable and of the appropriate size to our projects

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

Waht I liked most about Easy. It was eas easy to discover everything. In terms of drawing tools, it is very easy to buy a tablet with a screen with the difference in pressure applied to the screen.”

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

This makes it difficult to check these boxes".
"In terms of drawing tools is very simple.
Another thing I didn't like is that Gimp

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

There are good hidden tools that you have to show before using it.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was very useful to me in my work as I was able to deal with it quickly

  ### 30. You Don't Need Photoshop, You've Got GIMP!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex T. | Creator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

GIMP is a free photo editing software that does everything Photoshop does, or at least it does everything I've ever used Photoshop for. It gives me a wide range of options for editing and creating artwork, and saving it in various formats and ways.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

It can be a little tricky to learn how to do certain things, especially if you are used to using Photoshop, but that just takes learning, and Googling will always provide answers to what others did.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

If you're looking for image editing and creating software, you need look no further, GIMP is what you need.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Editing photos and artwork, as well as creating new images and artwork, and it's helping me do all the things I would need a Photoshop subscription to be doing. It's made things a lot easier for me.

  ### 31. A fantastic Photoshop alternative

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jacob Marvin R. | Senior Content Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2021

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

The interface is intuitive and easy to pick up fast. Layer management is also easy, and the blending tools are responsive. I've been without Photoshop access on machines in the past, and Gimp is a terrific alternative. The export features are also robust -- I've been able to save to variety of formats without issue.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

More filter features would be great, and more refined pixel/color selection tools would be a plus. Sometimes it's difficult to get clean selections when using the base lasso and wand tools. I should note however that I've encountered performance issues with large scale images for print (10,000 px+), though this is also attributable to the limitations of my machine. Keyboard shortcuts and right-click functionality has been better in recent versions, but that's another point where I prefer Photoshop.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

It doesn't have all the bells and whistles you'd find in Photoshop, but is a powerful photo editor if you need a free and intuitive alternative. Gimp is also not a memory hog, if that's a concern.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I need to make training images or rasterized web assets for work, Gimp is a great resource. The export features are great. Exporting at 2x and 3x for screens is a breeze. These graphics have been used for menu icons, web graphics, information graphics, and even team t-shirt designs.

  ### 32. Easy to use Image program

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph H. | Real Estate Broker, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2021

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

The ease that I can manipulate images taken by any type of camera. From an old pocket digital to my cell phone I can use just about ANY photo using the tools in the program. It can make any picture better. In my business I sometimes get photos that are too dark or slightly out of focus, this software makes it so I don't have to go and take the photos again and again.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

The software interface can be a little intimidating, and the User's Manual can be a bit unclear at times. It is written more for a person with a graphic arts background, and non-specialists will have some problem interpreting the meaning of some of the terms used.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the most complex parts of listing a home is getting the marketing photos right. Before I started using GIMP, there were times that I had to make two or three trips to houses. When those houses are 30 or 40 minutes away, it can make for wasted time.

  ### 33. GIMP: Powerful & Versatile Free Image Editing Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ridham S. | Business Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

The below features that I like most in GIMP:
1. It is completely free to use.
2. Image editing facilities like color correction, color tone, and noise control.
3. User-friendly dashboard and easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

The below features or things that I don't like very much in GIMP:
1. Batch processing is not available in GIMP.
2. Sometimes crashes while editing on a larger image file.
3. I can't select multiple layers at a time which is frustrating sometimes while editing.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

I recommend GIMP for image manipulation work definitely because it is a very powerful GNU-based image manipulation software that is free and open source. It is very effective for image editing works so photographers can also use GIMP for basic editing works. It is the best free alternative to Adobe Photoshop.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the below problems of my business:
1. It helps me to edit images easily very quickly.
2. It also helps me to correct the noise level in images very quickly in one click.
3. It saves a lot of money because it is free and open-source software.

  ### 34. GIMP - The Opensource Wondertool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dhruv J. | Manager IT, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

GIMP is free, Free as in Air !! It is the most powerful free open-source Image manipulation tool on the market yet. It can deal with all popular image formats and some unpopular ones as well. GIMP is a bundle of plugins, scripts and tools with make it a great Image editor.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

GIMP is a bit bulky and the interface does pose challenges sometimes. Tools are organised well but sometimes one needs to refer to the User Manual for better clarity.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GIMP helps save on licencing costs for Image editing software. We constantly work with complex SVG / PNG files which require dedicated editing software. GIMP helps convert / export to many different formats as we require.

  ### 35. Looking for both a powerful and Free Photo Editor - use Gimp!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ysmael R. | Data Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

GIMP stands for a GNU Image Manipulation Program, a powerful image editing tool. It is open-source software - meaning it is free. Also, multi-platform is available in Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. If you are looking for a software that is at par with commercial software - try GIMP!

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

If you are looking for software you could use professionally for editing images, GIMP is just suitable for you. But if you are a publisher for printing presses, you need to consider commercial software. GIMP has no color separator feature that breaks down the colors to Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black in preparation for publishing. Nevertheless, GIMP is a fantastic product you should consider first!

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One prominent feature of this product is it is at par with commercial equivalents. Most of all, Free! You do not need to spend. You can save a lot and divert your expenses elsewhere.

  ### 36. Opensource and great to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard F. | Network Security Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2021

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

The ability to make the backgrounds of images transparent is one of my favorite features to use in GIMP. I also use the resizing tool within it to resize pictures for my requirements. What I have found useful when working with complex images is that you can set each of its component on a different layer where they can be worked on individually. Best of all it is free to download and use.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Sometimes to layering and cropping of images to content or selection can be confusing. I also dont like that when images which were created in a different tool change colour when imported into gimp. It would be nice if it could keep the same colour.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

Give gimp a try before you go out and buy one of the paid tools. Gimp is easy, free to use, and is an open source tool. You can find tutorials online for getting what you need to complete. You can use gimp on any one of the major operating systems like Linux, Windows and MacOS.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Image editing problems go away when I use gimp. Whether you want to resize, shade, blend areas of an image, then gimp is a beautiful tool to have. It is not as complicated as other tools and does not require too many hours of use to finish your image editing projects. Also if you are low on funds, dont worry because its free to use.

  ### 37. IT'S FREE!

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evan C. | Design Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

This software is free, for better or for worse. That said, there are many tutorials online on how to use it effectively and how to replicate effects and solutions provided by software that requires a purchase.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

There is almost no automation, so some tasks that you can perform in Photoshop or a similar software takes longer. The software definitely works as it should and has plenty of useful tools for generating and editing images and graphics for my limited use.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

If you need professional software to use daily, you should likely get Photoshop or another paid software. GIMP is good if you want to produce something every once and a while and have plenty of time to do it.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We mostly do lightweight graphic editing or rendered image polishing with GIMP. We don't have many liscences available for Photoshop and maybe use the software once a month, so using GIMP instead is pretty acceptable. I also edit material images for rendering use.

  ### 38. A good FREE alternative to Photoshop

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jerome W. | Head of Web Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

Of course I like the fact that it's free, but it is a viable solution to not wanting to pay a monthly subscription yet needing to get your hands on some feature-rich photo editing software. It gives you many of the major features that Photoshop offers.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

It's not identical to PS, so you will have your quirks here and there. But you do get the backing of an online community that works to make it better. I think a one-for-one comparison is hard to reach, but stability of the existing features is key.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I love being able to do more demanding photo editing work without the commitment of a monthly subscription.

  ### 39. Open Source Image Editing Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

1. Solid build: GIMP is an open-source tool which has a solid build. The GUI is carefully crafted and takes a very little learning curve to master the tool.
2. Open source community: is by far most helpful. For sure, as a new user, anybody will face issues with these tools. The open-source community make it very easy to find answers to any questions you might have about this platform.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Performance: At times, I have observed that GIMP does perform very slow and buggy as well. Since this is an open-source tool, I expect some problems pertaining, but this is not a show stopper.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slowness and bugginess is something that I have observed. This even happens on a highly capable machine and with the latest version of GIMP installed. Therefore, this shall be kept in mind.

  ### 40. Great open resource for graphic design.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** jade C. | Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

GIMP is a wonderful resource for a free graphic design program. It is not always very intuitive, but it is fantastic once you know how to use it. Installation is easy and program is quick to boot up.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

The program is not always very intuitive and sometimes completing basic graphic design tasks can require more steps than one would assume. It does not have as many features as Photoshop.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GIMP is a great solution for those needing a free graphic design program which is pretty easy to learn and has enough features to make a good end product. Can add brushes/fonts and import projects easily.

  ### 41. Wonderful open source graphic design program

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven D. | Pastor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2021

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

I like the wide range of extensions available for GIMP and the community of users that makes finding information a breeze. It is a powerful graphic design program that rivals paid options.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

There is a sharp learning curve for this program. Some of the menu locations do not seem to be intuitive, so it would be nice if one could reorganize where items are in different menus.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

Get involved with the community of users as there are a lot of users that can help you answer your questions.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use gimp to design graphics for presentations and use them on social media. It has saved a lot of time in creating graphics for my church. It has templates that meet all my needs in those area.

  ### 42. best graphic software

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

nothing! i love Gimp. It's like 10 years that i use gimp and all is good

  ### 43. Free Open Source Image Editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Subash B. | Co-founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2021

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

First & foremost - it is free open-source tool! In a world where we pay a lot of money for image editing tools like Adobe Photoshop, a free tool is always welcome. Even though GIMP is free, it is a feature-rich image editor. The vast feature-capability makes GIMP is a real alternative to popular paid options like Adobe. The best part is you can enhance the feature further by adding other plug-ins. In photo editing & creativity space - your imagination should be the limit & yes GIMP can enable you to accomplish anything be it simple image editing like retouching to complex artwork development (simple icons to graphic design elements). Another key feature is you can work with any image format your original file is in - this versatility is rare.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

It is not easy to use. You need to spend a lot of time in getting to know the tool before you can use it to get what you want. I would say the user interface lacks ease of use - if you are new to the tool, it will be hard to even find some functions in the menu. This can cause frustration when you want something quick, but over a period of time it becomes easier & you enjoy using it as you get more & more familiar with the tool.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use GIMP for a range of things from simple image editing (retouching) to complex artwork development (simple icons to graphic design elements).

  ### 44. Great Starter Program

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

GIMP is a complex but useful software that can be used to edit and create images. I like the left panel layout best where I can view all the most used options instead of having to search for them. This made the software easier to use my first time. Now I know which tools I want to use based on the image and can locate them easily.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

There is so much that GIMP can do; however, the panels are useful but overwhelming. I do not like the right-side panel and I tend to ignore it as the many options overwhelm me. Even if there is an easier way to accomplish a task, it is done the long way.

I also dislike the small font size of both side panels. There is probably a way to increase the size however I have yet to locate it and that in itself is a deterant.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GIMP serves as a quick fix for image editing instead of purchasing a photoshop subscription. With GIMP, I can do the essential image editing needed for a project quickly and affordably.

  ### 45. Easy to use and easy on the wallet

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laura D. | Treatment coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

I love that gimp has all of the features that i need for graphic design.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

It does have a slight learning curve to or, if you are used to using other software.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

Just talented that it's free to use!

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This program has allowed me to create graphics for my company without having to purchase expensive software.

  ### 46. Robust solution for design and photo editing needs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2021

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

Gimp has all of the features you could ask for to do anything from website design, photo-editing, book setup, and more, wrapped up into one single product. It combines several products commonly needed by freelance designers, professionals, and hobbyists into a single product that is free to use.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

The only downside to Gimp is that the UX can be overwhelming for someone who is a specialist in a particular area of design. So if you are only looking for photo-editing, there are a lot of features and functions you're unlikely to use and will end up navigating around. The positive to this is that it gives you more to play with and learn new skills you would likely never get because the mainstream software is pricy.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

Try it out before spending money on other products. It could save you a lot!

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems I find are limited to understanding where certain functions are and what some of the icons are. Google is great for this though as there are many great resources available to let you know what is what and where to find things.

  ### 47. Open Source Photoshop Clone

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike B. | Human Resources Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2021

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

GIMP has every feature that PS has at $0. Prior experience with image editing software is a plus if you're looking to jump right it. Otherwise, online help manuals provided by the creators and the community at large are beneficial. I've used this software since 2012 and haven’t missed PS yet

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Minor complaint, but the aesthetics could use a bit of a refresh. There is very little to complain about, especially given that this software replaces PS entirely.

**Recommendations to others considering GIMP:**

I cannot stress enough that this is a more than suitable replacement for Adobe PS. If you have prior experience with PS, GIMP will be a breeze to utilize for your company.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GIMP meets all of my image editing needs. Realized benefits include not spending $$$ on image editing software and having full access to all features PS offers.

  ### 48. Gimp - An Effective Replacemen to for Most Everyone For Photoshop

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marv P. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

Easily expandable, Packed with features and tools, Opens almost any image file

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

The interface is a little crowded, could be streamlined, or better options for menu customization

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Graphic art creation, photo image manipulation, also the ability to create fake currency - or parody currency - photoshop freaks out on this.

  ### 49. Not my favorite

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Linda A. | Grafica, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2022

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

It's one of the best free software for design

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

Is very heavy, not very intuitive. Some times il blocking the laptop on big files.

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If you cannot paying the subscription to adobe this is a valid solution

  ### 50. More than an image editor

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan O. | Corporate Account Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2021

**What do you like best about GIMP?**

I've been using image editing software for going on 10 years now and GIMP is now my trusted editor of choice because it has extensive features and functionality, beautiful UI and layout, integrations and plugins. Most of all it's open source and free to use. Cannot be beat given that combination.

**What do you dislike about GIMP?**

The interface isn't quite as intuitive as Photoshop, things can feel a little cluttered for a new user. Plugins developed by third parties can sometimes be left unsupported

**What problems is GIMP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used GIMP for image editing software for a personal business (Fiverr). It allows me minimal overhead from the fact that it's free to use, and is still professional quality to deliver value for my clients.
