## About Follett Destiny Library Manager
Follett Destiny® Library Manager is an AI-enabled K–12 library management system that simplifies print and digital resource management for schools and districts. Built specifically for the daily work of librarians, teacher-librarians, and district library teams, it helps users manage circulation, cataloging, inventory, collections, and student access from one connected platform. Destiny Library Manager combines proven library workflows with AI-enabled support, helping schools operate more efficiently while strengthening literacy, discovery, and visibility across resources. The platform is designed for district librarians, school librarians, curriculum and instruction teams, and educators responsible for managing library materials and supporting reading engagement. Its intuitive workflows make it useful for both full library teams and individual staff members managing library responsibilities in smaller schools. Because AI-enabled capabilities are built directly into the system, users can automate reporting, surface insights faster, and spend less time on manual tasks, while still relying on the platform’s strong native reporting tools for day-to-day operations. Key features include circulation management, inventory tracking, cataloging, reporting dashboards, and tools that help students and teachers discover resources anytime, anywhere. Destiny Library Manager helps schools check materials in and out quickly, track what resources they own, see what needs replacing or updating, and monitor circulation, collection health, and reading activity. Its AI-enabled Library AI Assistant adds another layer of value by helping teams surface collection gaps, identify high-demand titles, automate worklists, and generate leadership-ready reports without manual exports. Just as important, Destiny Library Manager supports stronger accountability and planning. Effective tracking is not just about keeping a list of books and materials. It is about creating reliable records that help schools answer questions quickly, plan for replacement with more confidence, and make smarter resource decisions over time. Clearer inventory records, usage trends, and standardized workflows reduce uncertainty and give library teams better information for budgeting, collection development, and long-term planning. It also supports schools that need dependable data for audits, multi-site consistency, and equitable access, giving leaders a clearer view of what students can use, what is underused, and where collection investments should go next across the district. Overall, Destiny Library Manager stands out as an AI-enabled library management system that helps K–12 schools manage resources with greater efficiency, clarity, and confidence. By combining circulation, reporting, discovery, and AI-enabled decision support in one platform, it helps librarians save time, strengthen collections, support student reading, and keep library operations aligned with broader school and district goals.

## Follett Destiny Library Manager Reviews
 ### 1. Hard Working, Easy Going

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael B. | Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

As a first time librarian with no previous exposure to library software, I was concerned with how not knowing how things work. Destiny Library Manager is very simple to use, but can do so much! I've only scratched the surface of all it offers, but I was able to get the basics down quickly with no formal training other that the video series that Follett offers. I also like how I can track books, students (patrons), and other materials from previous years without having to consult an outside source. I also like the access to Destiny Discover as it gives me confidence while I learn my library.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I am not a fan of the newest updates. They look really nice, but it does slow down my access and sometimes it freezes entirely and automatically reverts to the older system.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes the tracking of materials available conveniently located and easy to find. I'm also able to see live numbers of how the library is being used. I would need an entire staff to handle what this system does.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that you find the system easy to use and appreciate its capabilities. We understand your concerns about the newest updates causing some slowdowns and glitches. Our team is continuously working to improve the system's performance, and we appreciate your feedback. If you encounter any further issues or have suggestions for improvement, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team: 800.323.3397, option 2 or techsupport@follettsoftware.com. ### 2. As a first year Librarian, I did not have all the information I needed to be on top of my position.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carolyn Q. | Librarian, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager reassures its users how to use the program in such a way it makes sense and it's not a guessing game to get the answers needed to feel successful.
The staff on-call is ready to assist, even to the point they show you what to click on to get the information needed. There are many online workshops for beginners. Customer Support is available whenever or however you need more information. This program was designed for its users to feel successful and know there are answers to every situation.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The downfalls of using Follett Destiny might be self navigating and getting frustrated with the program before making a phone call or reaching online for additional help. Follett Destiny staff that will set up a time to sit down and go through what struggles are being faced. They are very knowledgeable and willing to guide librarians through the process of finding what is needed to feel confident and have a better understanding on how the software works. I was pleased to find out what free sites are available on their webpage to get all the information needed to feel successful. Customer support is there and is willing to direct or answer questions about their software and how to navigate easier to feel successful.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed to know how to process new library books to be included on our shelves for students. I also wanted to know about workshops that are offered for beginner users and not feel overwhelmed. I had questions about getting over-due books summary for teachers as well as parents. Does this program include fees for books that can't be found or are damaged beyond repair? That's what Follett Destiny does so well, and that's to educate its users a safe and easy way to answer questions.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback that you find our program user-friendly and appreciate the support provided by our staff. We understand the importance of feeling confident and successful in your role as a librarian.

We apologize for any frustrations you may have encountered while navigating the program. We will certainly look into improving the self-navigation aspect and ensuring a smoother experience for all users. ### 3. Easy to use and visualize books

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denise T. | Teacher Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I like the categories of Back Office they make sense for the work of the librarian. Such as "Catalog", " Circulation", "Reports" etc. It is easy to navigater through the different work that we do all day long.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Some tasks like making an expired "Hold active" just requires too many clicks.

I wish when you were looking for a patron in circulation that is in the name of the book such as "Brown" it would give you the patron names and the books with those names. At the moment, if you want to find a student with the last name Brown you have to click the "Find Patron" Button.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like how it keeps the Patron name more when you are switching tasks.

I also like how it is easy to navigate from Destiny Discoverer, Titlewave, and Back Office through the 9 boxes on the far right.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Denise! Thank you for sharing your feedback on Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're glad to hear that you find the categories in the Back Office section helpful for your work as a librarian. We appreciate your input on the number of clicks required for certain tasks and the search functionality for patrons in circulation. Your comments will be shared with our team for further review and improvement. We're pleased to hear that the system's features like keeping the Patron name when switching tasks and easy navigation are benefiting you. Thank you for being a valued customer!

 ### 4. Basic Library Management System

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Enrico T. | Library Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I like the fact that the cataloguing is made simple by allowing us to use the records from Alliance Plus. As the sole librarian for a school of 360+ students without any sort of assistant, cataloguing new resources takes up the majority of my time. If the book's record is available for me to simply "Add Copies" to, it helps me save a lot of processing time.

As the main circulation desk for a school of 360+ students, Destiny provides stability despite the lack of other features.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I dislike how rigid it is, and the lack of customisable reporting or searching. Coming from Softlink's Oliver v5 which has a host of reports which can each be customised to suit whatever needs I might have. Analytical reporting from Softlink is also a really nice feature, and would love to see it implemented into Destiny. Also, the homepage is not as customisable as one would be on Oliver, so I've been forced to make a separate library landing page for the different resources to be accessed by students and staff.

Destiny also lacks RFID support, so rather than me being able to incorporate RFID into my book processing and circulation, I have to rely on manual methods of stocktaking which can be time consuming, inefficient and prone to errors.

Customer support is based in the United States, so sometimes when I need urgent support during the school day here in Hong Kong, I'm forced to wait until the evening for a response - which sometimes never even comes.

Circulation is quite inefficient sometimes as the student name search is quite spelling-specific, meaning unless I spell the students' names correctly, it will not appear as a search result. This can be difficult for new staff who are stepping in and performing circulation for the first time, especially when names are not spelled phonetically or in the typical manner that we might be used to.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the need for a library management system, and offers reporting that is useful in providing feedback to teachers regarding the reading habits of their students. The lack of customisation, however, limits the information that I can provide to teachers.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on Follett Destiny Library Manager. We appreciate your insights on the positives and negatives you've experienced. We understand the importance of customizable reporting and searching features, as well as the need for more flexibility in cataloging and circulation processes. Your feedback on the lack of RFID support and the challenges with customer support response times is duly noted. We will share your suggestions with our product development team for future enhancements. We value your input and are committed to improving our services to better meet your needs. Thank you for choosing Follett Destiny Library Manager.

 ### 5. Follett Destiny: A Comprehensive Solution for Library Needs"

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rima Z. | librarian, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

What I like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager is its user-friendly interface and the ability to easily manage all aspects of library operations in one place. The system simplifies cataloging, circulation, and inventory, making it efficient to track resources. I also appreciate its powerful reporting tools, which help me analyze data and make informed decisions about library management.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

What I dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager is that I find it challenging to generate reports. I have to be very precise in selecting the right options to get the desired results, which can be time-consuming. I wish the process was simpler and more intuitive, allowing for easier customization and quicker access to the needed data.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits include improved efficiency, better resource availability for students and staff, and the ability to plan more effectively for the library's needs. It has greatly enhanced the overall library experience for our school community.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback on Follett Destiny Library Manager. We're thrilled to hear that you find the interface user-friendly and appreciate the system's ability to streamline library operations. We understand your concerns about generating reports and will certainly look into ways to enhance the process for a more intuitive experience. Your input is valuable in helping us improve our services.

 ### 6. Had been great; needs to make some improvements

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sheryl T. | Library Advisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I've been using Library Manager for 9 years, and until about a year ago, I was fully satisfied with it and would have highly recommended it to anyone. The implementation process was smooth, and it has all the features I need (we're a hosted site). It's been very reliable, and I find the system easy to use. I am the district administrator so know the system well and train others in my district in using it.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The recent update to the UI has been frustrating—it's slow and unreliable, so much so that I ended up disabling it and reverting to the previous interface. Additionally, I'm disappointed with recent changes at the company, particularly the removal of the key support person who used to host monthly webinars on new features. Over the past three years, we've seen a 5% increase in our annual subscription, yet there have been no noticeable improvements in the product. Furthermore, as an international customer, we're unable to access the Enriched Reporting features available to US customers, even though we pay the same subscription fee.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to catalog and circulate library materials.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for your detailed feedback on your experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager. We appreciate your loyalty over the years and are glad to hear that the system has been reliable and easy to use for you and your district.

We apologize for the frustrations you've encountered with the recent UI update and the changes in support. Your concerns are valid, and we will address them with our team to ensure a better experience for you and all our customers. We understand the importance of consistent support and will work on providing more valuable resources for your training needs.

Regarding the Enriched Reporting features, we will investigate why international customers are not able to access them despite paying the same subscription fee. We value your feedback and will strive to make necessary improvements. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention.

 ### 7. Destiny makes life easier.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Annette L. | Library Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Being able to download records directly from Follett and/or from other Follett Libraries is so much easier than having to try to find the records myself online. Our previous program had the ability to search online sources, but it didn't work most of the time. Plus, a few of the previously free site were now pay to use, so they were no longer available to us.

Being able to easily integrate with Titlewave. I used Titlewave previously, but when our School Division replaced our old program (2 previous to Follett), the newer program did not allow us to upload our records, so we were unable to use it. Being able to seamlessly integrate with Titlewave is wonderful.

The ability to charge fines for lost books, record payments, and issue receipts and refunds is so easy! Plus the variety of reports available makes our job a lot easier. We previously had to type out our own invoices and use hand written receipts.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Don't know if it is an issue with Destiny or with our School Division IT, but we are unable to pull Student Contact Info from Power School. Parents are asking if we can email overdue/items out notices, but we don't have any contact info, so we can only print and hope the students remember to give them to their parents.

One thing I wish it would do is identify which books are/were signed out when doing inventory. This is one thing our previous program did, which was invaluable when trying to find missing books at the end of the year.

Another thing would be to allow us to extend the time before being logged out. Our class periods are 45 minutes long, and if we need to speak to students before signing out books, or if we read them a story, we often need to log back in again before we can continue.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having most of our Library Operations in one program saves a lot of time and helps us get more done in a day. Our previous program did not allow us to do many things such as, issue fines, print notices, issue receipts, etc.

Also, being able to download records without having to subscribe to additional services is wonderful.

Plus integrating with Titlewave to analyse our catalog.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you find it easier to download records and integrate with Titlewave. We appreciate your suggestions for improvement, such as pulling Student Contact Info from Power School and identifying signed-out books during inventory. Our team is continuously working to enhance our system, and we will take your feedback into consideration for future updates. Thank you for being a customer!

 ### 8. User-friendly with good customer service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dawn C. | Library Media Specialist., Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

We have been using Fillett Destiny for over twenty years in our school district. This is the only product we have ever used but have been satisfied with customer service and quality of the software. I love TitlePeak--it's so helpful to remind students what the cover of their overdue book looks like. I think it also makes catalog browsing more immersive.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I think some of the updates are unnecessary--rearranging and changing tabs. The current mobile apps are not usable for me at this time--I preferred the previous one where we could use check out books from anywhere with our phone. Perhaps I haven't spent enough time with it. For the purposes of our school( 9-12) I prefer the look of Destiny classic for catalog searches. I do use the "Collections" feature because the visual aspect appeals to me as well as our students.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't really have an answer for this because our district is a longtime user of this product.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Dan! We're glad to hear that you have been satisfied with our customer service and the quality of our software over the years. We appreciate your feedback about the updates and mobile apps, and we will take this into consideration for future improvements. Thank you for being a loyal customer!

 ### 9. Multiple Tools for Librarians

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandra J. | Library Media Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I like the way the platform conforms to my needs, as well as those of my students. In Destiny Discover, my patrons have a visual platorm with curation tools such as Collections. In BackOffice, I can view copy info, as well as patron info, reports, statistics, and more.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The reports can often be hard to customize. There should be more default report options. I want to be able to see stats for genres. For example, if I'm trying to increase the circulation of nonfiction, I want to be able to run a report to see how much is being checked out. Also, the snapshot statistic reports for past years need to have more options than simply the total circulations.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager helps me track material usage, as well as student data. I'm interested in student literacy, and the program helps me complie data to bring to my literacy team.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Sandra, thank you for sharing your feedback on Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that you appreciate how the platform caters to your needs and those of your students. We understand your concerns about customizing reports and the need for more default options, including genre-specific stats. Your insights are valuable, and we will certainly consider them for future enhancements. Tracking material usage and student data to support student literacy is a key benefit of the system, and we're glad to hear it's helping you compile data for your literacy team. If you have any further suggestions or if there's anything specific you'd like us to address, please feel free to reach out at 800.323.3397, option 2 or techsupport@follettsoftware.com. Thank you for being a valued user of Follett Destiny Library Manager!

 ### 10. Follett Destiny works for our school!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Megan L. | Library and Information Media Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

What I find most useful about the Libaray Manager from Destiny is how easy it is to use and implement. We use it every day in the library for checkout, finding books, and usage data. I particularly appreciate the integration with Titlewave. It makes it very easy to get new books into the system and onto shelves quickly. I really like the Collection Analysis tool so I know what areas of the collection need my focus.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

While we really enjoy using the library manager, I do wish the client side was a little more configurable. It works pretty well, but getting teachers trained in how to use it is challenging and we would be able to get more use out of it if less training was necessary to implement.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the library manager primarily to check out books and search the catalog. I particularly appreciate the homeroom check out feature as it helps me remember all 700+ of my students names (something I struggle with normally). Having their class pictures in front of me streamlines the process like no other.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that you find it easy to use and that it helps you efficiently manage your library. We appreciate your feedback on the client side configuration and teacher training. We will take this into consideration for future improvements.

Thank you for being a valued user of Follett Destiny Library Manager!

 ### 11. Good features, but room for improvement on the basics

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa D. | Library support specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

District cataloging is fairly simple
Patrons uploads are easy to automate
Variety of reports that are easy to use and customize
Daily use for circulation, reports, and collection management
Integrates well with Google SSO for our district
Can send email reports straight from the site
Responsive customer service

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

It's too easy to create duplicate records for items with multiple ISBN's and hard to remove them
More customization options in reports would be useful
Customer service sometimes doesn't have the answers and can take a while to contact now that the company has split into two parts

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to track materials in an effective, easy way and have access to that data from anywhere
Checking in and out materials efficiently to keep the day on track
Assessing fines and being able to run a report to track budget
Keeps the library running smoothly

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback on Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're glad to hear you appreciate the district cataloging, easy patron uploads, and variety of reports. We understand your concerns about duplicate records and limited customization options in reports. We'll pass this valuable feedback along to our development team for future enhancements.

 ### 12. Distiny library manager is the best

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yasmeen K. | Library Assistant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

What I appreciate most about Follett is its user-friendly approach to cataloging new books. The platform’s widespread use among librarians worldwide makes it highly likely to find MARC records for most books, simplifying the process to just adding a copy to the library.

Additionally, I value the tools Follett offers for analyzing collections. These features make it easier to assess cultural sensitivity and diversity within the library’s holdings, helping us identify gaps and make informed decisions when purchasing new books.

Lastly, the updated interface is a standout improvement. Its interactive design, especially the new sticky note feature, enhances usability and streamlines daily tasks.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

while the system offers excellent cataloging options, some MARC records may occasionally require manual adjustments, which can be time-consuming.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The detailed reports help us track circulation trends, identify popular titles, and manage overdue books, improving overall library operations.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Yasmeen, this is so great to hear! Thank you for sharing your positive feedback about Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that you appreciate the user-friendly approach to cataloging and the tools available for analyzing collections. We understand that manual adjustments to MARC records can be time-consuming, and we appreciate your feedback on this aspect and will pass this onto our product team. Thank you for being a Follett Destiny customer!

 ### 13. User-friendly, simple, and reliable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elsa B. | Upper School Librarian, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I like the organization of the system - things are always categorized in such a way that I can find my way 9/10 times on my own. The 1/10 time, I consult their help feature, or online forum. I like that the interface is not flashy - it's unobtrusive and easy on the eyes. I like features such as resource lists, patron history, and the myriad of reports that I can run to help me with collection management and collecting overdue books. I really love how well the system speaks with Titlewave, so that when I place orders through Titlewave, I can easily import the records and view the metadata.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I wish that the system was more compatible with my school's learning management system, BlackBaud.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly, time management and data about age, value, and usage of the collection.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Elisa!

 ### 14. Follett Destiny Library Manager - best software for modern libraries

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy S. | Teacher's Assistant - Media Center, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I like the amount of options it has for reports on Library materials and also for Patrons. I love being able to see my whole collection of books in one secure website.
Another great quality is the preloaded information about books when you add a new title, it saves a lot of time when putting new books in the system.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I do not like that I am not able to see the complete history of a book. For example, if I change the barcode on a book, I will never be able to view the previous barcode it once had.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is solving our issue with lost books. With Follett, we can view the last person that had the book checked out and that way, we are able to get a bunch of books back.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager. We understand your concern about not being able to see the complete history of a book, and we will take this into consideration for future updates to enhance the user experience.

 ### 15. Robust ILS system with adequate support (some caution for Canadian customers)

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Libraries | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Over time, we've been able to make fairly good use of the robustness of the system. As the Administrator for our district of 22 schools there is so much more I could be doing if I had more time in my job for it; this system can do things I have no time to implement (e.g. ILL, district reporting, etc.).

I love that I can call a real person and get patient assistance to work through any problem I am facing. I rely on the tech help line to a huge degree and all staff that work on that are amazing!

I do appreciate the effort and training offered on updates, features, webinars, etc. Follett works hard to keep people informed. The Users Network meeting, when it's offered, is always very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Implementation was less than complete; key tech issues surfaced as time went on that I felt should have been planned for and addressed during implementation (e.g. CAD vs. USD currency issue in our records could have been prevented if appropriate clean-up had been done during implementation).

Aesthetic isn't pretty, and layout isn't always very intuitive or user-friendly. I hear this feedback when I train new people on the system. Important info or links are sometimes too tiny (e.g. the phrase "see all" on the Title details tab).

Canadian customers suffer; this US developed product doesn't offer full functionality to CA customers (e.g. we can't use the Follett smtp authentication, so we have had to build an in-house solution), and the cultural lens through which data is seen doesn't accurately reflect Canadian library culture (e.g. subject groupings are different) - we sometimes have to ask ourselves: what would this be if we were in the US? Or, is this limitation on functionality because we are a Canadian-hosted customer? None of this was explicitly explored during implementation, either.

There is some functionality I am truly surprised has not been considered in development! (I does sometimes cause me to wonder if experienced library assistants and cataloguers did much test-driving of the product in development!) For example, I cannot add a new subject heading to a group of titles; I can only replace an existing one. A key example of this is our need to add the subject heading of "Indigenous peoples" to all appropriate titles that don't currently have this to better reflect contemporary subject headings. The only way to add a new subject heading to all these hundreds of titles across the district is to do that one by one. This kind of functionality should be a given, not an enhancement request.

Integration with Overdrive/SORA is not seamless as it should be and as it was presented; it can be summed up as both vendors pointing the finger at the other with no adequate solution for the customer caught in the middle to be found! This has caused our usage of SORA to suffer.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Destiny is our only ILS, so that is our main benefit. It is helping us standardize our data across our district.

 ### 16. Meh

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jasmine T. | Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The existing catalog is robust and it does its job. We use it daily and it has only been down once while I've been a librarian. It was easy to learn how to use and train new users.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The support for it is abysmal. We have reached out about issues but because we are not in a US time zone, the support does not address issues in a timely manner and has not allowed us real time assistance.
The format is very old fashioned as well. The features are not fully activated or can't be used. this is perhaps due to the support not helping us fully integrate the features.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us keep our collection accounted for and track borrowing information for our students, faculty, and families.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> We're glad to hear that you find our catalog robust and reliable for your daily use. We apologize for the support issues you've experienced and will work to improve our response time for customers in different time zones. I am here to help as well and would love to learn more. Please reach out to me directly at adoherty@follettsoftware.com. I will share this with our team as well.

 ### 17. Follett does not support school libraries

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

At its most basic level, it functions. It has records of our titles, which are kind of searchable, and tracks material checked in/out (though there is a glitch with check in/out, so I can't even say that works well).

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett does not support school libraries. They have made no improvements to make our jobs easier and Follett Destiny is a terrible cataloging system. It is clear that the people in charge have no idea what school librarians need to do their job.The reporting capabilities are truly horrendous. Technical support always tells us to "submit enhancement requests" that go nowhere. Instead, Follett focuses on pushing out a terrible AI product, just to say that they've got AI, rather than making improvements that school librarians actually need.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wouldn't say it really solves my problems, but rather, creates more headache.

**Official Response from Alexandra McMillin:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Destiny Library Manager. We’re sorry to hear it hasn’t met your expectations, and we truly appreciate your candor. Feedback like yours helps guide our improvement efforts. I’d welcome the opportunity to connect directly and ensure your concerns are shared with the right teams. ### 18. Steadfast Library Friend

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Holly S. | School Library Media Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I have been in the school library business for a few decades and Follett has always been there with me like an old friend. I find it straightforward and easy to use without any special training, and deeply appreciate the features that allow smooth and fun functioning of the program.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Sometimes I have had to turn to the Internet or colleagues for additional information on how to do certain things within Follett. There may be a way to click for more information or help, but it wasn't obvious enough for me to see it so I went outside the program for answers.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I appreciate how simple the inventory process is and the excellent reports that you can run to get a helpful analysis of your collection.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Holly! Thank you for your wonderful review, and for being a customer! We're thrilled to hear that the program has been a reliable companion in your school library journey. We understand your concern about finding additional information within the program and will work on making the help resources more visible for users like you. **Reviewed by:** Ashley S. | Library Media Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I find the resource lists and report features so helpful in planning for library services and teacher needs. The reports have been amazing to advocate for the library with our school admin and I love how they help with collection development as well. Destiny is the first tab I open every morning and the last I close every evening - my most useful piece of software by far!

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Our district library manager is hosted by the county and that can be problematic - we have had issues with being logged out mid day this year across the district. Follett support has been very helpful as we navigate these issues.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking library and textbook materials is easy, and we are able to easily share resources across buildings.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Ashley! Thank you for sharing your positive feedback about Follett Destiny Library Manager! We are thrilled to hear that you find the resource lists, report features, and collection development tools so helpful for your library services and teacher needs. We appreciate your loyalty to Destiny as your go-to software.

 ### 20. Excellent Customer Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica B. | Library Media Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I love how titles that I purchase through Follett easily import into Destiny cataloging and that they keep track of what books that I currently have. I can create lists of wished for items and can trust their reviews and "The Best of Titlewave" collections. If I have a few books with binding issues, I can easily email the customer service department and they quickly send me a replacement.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I with I could limit search filters to include 2 binding types.Sometimes, I prefer Follett Bound by would like to look at Hardback books too to compare.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Follett Destiny Library Manager allows for reports and statistics to be analysed to better meet my patron's needs. I can use the catalog system to keep track of inventory.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Jessica! So great to hear about your positive experience with our customer service and the ease of importing titles. We understand your feedback about the search filters and will explore ways to improve this feature for your convenience. Thank you for being a Follett Destiny customer!

 ### 21. Reliable Old Friend

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christina A. | Library media specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager is simple and easy to learn, teach, and use. For the most part, it connects well with our SSO to update the latest student information. As a daily user of Destiny, I find that the features I need are almost always easy to find. If not, the support I receive from the company provides quick solutions.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I wish importing student photos was simpler and could be done when connected to our LMS. One big pet peeve in trying to teach others to use Destiny is that the back arrow gives the user an error then it's multiple steps to get back into the needed display.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can simply track circulation stats, see checkouts, due dates, and library trends.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback on Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that you find it simple to learn and use, with helpful support when needed. We appreciate your suggestions for improving the photo importing process and the back arrow functionality. Your insights are valuable for our team to consider for future updates. I love that it is so easy to use. As a first year school librarian, I found it easy to find what I needed. I also like that most features have a button for tutorials or frequently asked questions for when I have no idea how to do something. I use Follett Destiny every day, so it has become a very large part of my day. It is very easy to get my book vendors my catalog information when I am ordering materials, which saves me a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I really don't have anything I dislike about Follett Destiny. I truly have only had positive interactions with the manager.

 ### 23. excellent support service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rahadel V. D. | school librarian II, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

We've been using Follet Library Manager for almost 10 years. We've transitioned from on site server to using their cloud server services. Our onsite server was struck by thunder twice and I was worried we' re gonna be back to square one. Luckily, their excellent tech support managed to retrieve the data. When we are offered about their cloud service I didnt even think twice to avail.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

one thing i need is a monthly report option on which titles are added and when. i need a report for the whole mechanical process. from encoding /receiving, collating, stamping, cataloging and so on.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track on what library holdings we have and easily sharing it to faculty to keep them updated

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for your positive feedback on our support services and for being a loyal customer for almost a decade! We're thrilled to hear that our tech support team was able to assist you during a challenging time. Your suggestion for a monthly report option is valuable, and we will consider adding this feature to enhance your experience further.

If you have any more suggestions or feedback, please feel free to reach out. We appreciate your support and look forward to continuing to serve your library needs.

 ### 24. Good for school districts

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ana K. | Librarian, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I like that I can personalize the home page, and add links to the catalog titles. I like adding book reviews, book resumes and videos of the author.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I don't like that some boolean searches get no or few results, even when the query was input correctly. Also, not all subjects and authorities are activated, so often someone looking for titles in the series or same author are unable to do so.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is not really solving a problem, but it is very useful as a school catalog. Without an online catalog working a school library would be near impossible, but I do not consider library use as 'problem,' just that having a system that works is a necessity.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager. We're pleased to hear that you find the customization features beneficial for your school catalog. We understand your concerns about the limitations of boolean searches and the activation of subjects and authorities. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we will use it to make improvements to our system for better search results and access to all titles. We appreciate your input and your continued support.

Follett Destiny Suite is user-friendly. I use it all day Monday- Friday and I can always count om it to work. It works seamlessly with my dad-to-day task. I rarely need customer support and when I do they are always there to help me.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Follett Destiny Suite runs our entire school. Library books, Textbooks, and Chromebooks are checked out daily. Without Follett Destiny Suite I wouldn't know how to do my job. Gone are the days when eveything was checked out with cards that were saved behind a desk, A fire hazard!

 ### 27. It's the industry leader for a reason

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy L. | Media Specialist/Teacher Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I've used Destiny Library Manager for about 23 years as a public K12 librarian. Over the years I've watched Follett grow, adapt, advance, and become the primary system for K12 library management. Destiny can do almost anything I need for my school and library. It's integration with Titlewave is a nice addition. Destiny Discover has been a wonderful addition that is much more appealing to patrons and far easier for children to navigate since it's similar to the interface one would find on a streaming service. The few times I've had to call, Follett tech support is always great. In fact the entire Follett team from sales to tech support to the folks processing orders in the warehouse are great.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I really have no complaints with Library Manager; it does everything I need and more. My biggest frustrations with Destiny are caused by the restrictions my own district places on my level of access so it's not the fault of Follett!

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My school library curently serves about 1350 patrons. I can't imagine having to keep up with all of the books and equipment I manage daily without Destiny!

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Amy! Thank you for your kind words! We're glad to hear that Destiny Library Manager has been able to meet your needs and that you've had positive experiences with our team. Thank you for being a long-time customer, we are so grateful!

 ### 28. Software Desperately in Need of Updates

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The Destiny Discover interface is great for students because of the way it features book covers and call numbers. It works best on a computer or chromebook vs the app.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I use Destiny Library Manager every day. I teach others how to use it - both adults and students. I rely on it for essentail reports that impact funding.

I've used Destiny Library Manager since 2008. In that time, little has changed in the administration side, or the "Back Office". Follet's approach to updating the Destiny Library Manager typically involves adding a whole new layer, and even interface, instead of tackling the areas where we need it most - the administration side.

Soon, the company will open in it's new AI integration, which I imagine will again contain another layer (interface) to learn....instead of truely incorporating it into the back office. Much of the updates needed in the administration are basic, such as the navigation or the way functions are grouped. Thankfully, the tech support team is kind and patient and they don't mind my weekly phone calls.

But...truely...hours upon hours could be saved if the company would consider a rehaul of the back office. I've had so so so many conversation with other school librarians about this.

I use Destiny Library Manager every day. I teach others how to use it - both adults and students. I rely on it for essentail reports that impact funding.

*I know we can request enhancements. We simply don't have the time to do that work for you. We'd like your team, who understand architecture and design, to take that on. Thanks!*

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Library catalog - helps teachers and students view what is in the collection
Discover allows me to add customized images of genres, to assist users in finding what they want
Discover allows me to create collections - but those are not often easily shared betwee the back office and collections....so I've sort of stopped using that feature as it became too time consuming

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager. We appreciate your insights on the areas that need improvement, especially in the administration side. Your feedback is valuable to us, and I would love to connect with you so we can ensure to escalate this, as we value all of our customer feedback. ### 29. Never had an issue

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cassie W. | English Teacher/Library Media Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I have utilized the patron history more than I thought I would. Often times, my students only remember very few details about the book, let alone the title or author. Being able to look back at what books they read previously is amazing.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I recently needed to know the average age of my books and couldn't access it until after school hours because of how the historical summary is set up. I forgot for like four days since I typically leave right after school and would remember the next morning after the time window had closed again.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The vastness of the catalog is overwhelming but being able to categorize and sort based on keywords helps tremendously.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that the patron history feature has been so helpful for you and your students. We appreciate your feedback about the difficulty in accessing certain information after school hours and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. ### 30. One-Stop Shop

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager is perfect for me and my school as a one-stop shop for all things library. I use the program every day and I am not only able to quickly add new titles, I am also able to add 400+ books ordered from Titlewave in less than 5 minutes! I have been in this position for 2 years and found Follett Destiny very easy to pick up quickly and implement with my students. Any questions I had or issues I faced were all resolved within 24-48 hours by the responsive Follett Customer Service!

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

One thing that I wish was different about Follett Destiny Library Manager was the capabilities of viewing data within the system. Right now, I can see my library's data snapshot through Titlewave, but would love for it to be integrated into the Library Manager itself.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am essentially restarting an entire school library by myself. Follett Destiny Library Manager is helping me to identify how many books are in my library digitally, which books are incorrectly barcoded, and what areas I need to order more books for. It is also solving my issue of students forgetting books! With the email notice option, I am able to send emails directly to staff and parents letting them know that a book is overdue. This has helped me keep more books in circulation rather than being lost quickly.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that the program has been a valuable tool for you in managing your school library efficiently. Your feedback about the data viewing capabilities is duly noted, and we appreciate your suggestion for integration within the system.

We understand the importance of having a seamless experience, and we are continuously working to enhance our platform to better meet the needs of our users. Your input is invaluable in this process.

Thank you for choosing Follett Destiny Library Manager!

 ### 31. Follett Destiny Library Manager is Fabulous for School Libraries

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager offers an efficient and user-friendly platform for managing library resources. It allows librarians to streamline cataloging, circulation, and inventory processes, saving valuable time. Students and teachers benefit from its easy-to-use search tools, enabling them to quickly locate books, eBooks, and other resources.

One standout feature is its cloud-based accessibility, which ensures that library data is secure and available anytime, anywhere.

Overall, Follett Destiny Library Manager fosters a more organized, accessible, and engaging library experience, making it an indispensable tool in the school library setting.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

While Follett Destiny Library Manager offers many benefits, there are a few downsides to consider:

The program can be expensive, especially for smaller schools with limited budgets. Ongoing subscription fees and potential costs for add-ons or technical support can add up.

New users may find the system overwhelming due to its extensive features. Proper training is often required, which can be time-consuming and may require additional expense.

While the platform offers many features, it lacks flexibility in customizing certain elements to meet specific school needs. Some users feel restricted by its rigid interface and workflows.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is an all-in-one solution for managing library resources, textbooks, and other educational materials for our large school of 1,800 students. It streamlines resource tracking, making it easy to catalog, check out, and inventory library books, textbooks, and technology resources

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

 ### 32. Great funtionality in a school library system.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mari M. | School Library technician / Destiny administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Destiny is a very intuitive program to use at the start. The longer you use it, the more you discover it can d. I recommend not being afraid to click buttons and find out what each section does.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The help function is not helpful. The directions are hard to follow sometimes and it does not often answer questions. I have better luck just googling my question to find a good answer.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Destiny allowed me to integrate 2 school library collections without duplicating numbers. OUr previous system could not do that. It has been so helpful not to have to flip back and forth between 2 schools. It has simplified my job and daves me time!

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Mari! Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager. We understand the importance of user-friendly functionality and will take your feedback about the help function into consideration for future improvements. Your feedback is valuable to us!

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The library management system is easy to navigate, and is usually reliable. I use it all day when checkign books in and out, for inventory, and for lirbary statistics. I also really like that there's a way to check books in and out if the internet goes out- even though I can't access the internet records.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The system does not stay loggied in all day, which means that I have to log back in every time I return to my computer for a new class. Also, I have to click log in up to three times every time I want ot log in using Google. (Sometimes it works after one login. I don't like being taken automatically to the site dashboard when I try to go to the back office. I know what page I want- and if I wanted to go there, I woul dhave clicked that button.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Logging in took three clicks previously, but that seems to be fixed, so that's wonderful. The new data assistant is a great integration of AI, but I haven't used it extensively yet.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that our system has been beneficial for your library management. We apologize for the inconvenience of the login process and being directed to the dashboard. Your feedback will help us make necessary improvements for a better user experience, and I will be sharing these with our Follett Destiny team!

 ### 34. Follett Destiny in the Elementary School Library

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Libraries | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager is super user friendly. It is very intuitive and it is easy to train volunteers to use it. You can run many different reports and schedule reports such as overdue notices to go out at specific times. You can build your screen and reports to look and run however best fit your needs. When adding titles to your collection you can download MARC records or search for titles individually. The system will provide records for you when available. Destiny discover is great for students and super easy to implement.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Overall, I have very few "dislikes" about the system. My biggest complaint is that different records for the same book are chosen on different campuses. This is more of a user issue than a system issue. This can be prevented by using house records when adding individual titles.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager keeps our collection orderly. I am able to customize individual book records such as call number to meet the exact layout of my library. Creating reports to run automatically alleviates the need to send out overdue notices. Just set it up and let Manager do the rest. Inventory is super easy and I love that I can login to Titlewave directly from my Destiny.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for your review! We are so glad that you find Destiny Library Manager user-friendly and appreciate its features like customizable reports and easy implementation for volunteers. We understand your concern about different records for the same book on different campuses and appreciate your suggestion of using house records to prevent this issue. We're glad to hear that Destiny Library Manager is helping you keep your collection organized and streamline tasks like creating reports and managing inventory. Thank you for being a valued customer!

 ### 35. Follett Solutions is integral to our library operations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kathryn N. | Director of Library & Technology Integration, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Destiny Library Manager makes running my library possible. I love the efficiency of the reporting and the ease of use when onboarding new staff. I have used this platform for over 20 years and have been impressed with the way it has kept up with changing technologies, especially the new integration of AI. Customer support is responsive and provides support as needed.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The help documentation needs updating. It is not as easy to navigate as the software itself.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Destiny provides data for library statistics for our four installations of Destiny. This allows me to see what is happening at the other campuses in real-time.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Kathryn! Thank you for your positive feedback on Follett Destiny Library Manager! We are thrilled to hear that you find the reporting efficiency and user-friendly onboarding process valuable. Your loyalty over the past 20 years means a lot to us.

We appreciate your feedback on the help documentation and will work on improving its navigation. It's great to hear that Destiny is helping you stay connected with the other campuses and providing real-time data for library statistics. If you need any assistance or have further suggestions, please feel free to reach out. We are here to support you every step of the way!

 ### 36. Destiny Library Manager makes tasks easy and keeps everything organized and in one place.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer S. | Library Media Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

As a Library Manager user the program is easy to use for most tasks. I use it every day in the library and show students how to use it as well. It helps keep things organized and allows me to do tasks quickly by running reports, such as who has overdue books or to print barcodes or spine labels.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

There are a few areas that have settings that are difficult to get around. Because I am a user and not an administrator I sometimes have to go through admin to get things changed that I'd like to be able to do myself. There are some instances in which it is difficult to find the right place to do what I'm looking for, but it's relatively rare that occurs.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Library Manager helps me to run the library efficiently. I can't imagine running a library of about 8000 books for 450 students without a program like Destiny Library Manager!

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> We're glad to hear that you find Destiny Library Manager easy to use and helpful for keeping your library organized. We appreciate your feedback about the settings and navigation, and we'll take it into consideration for future improvements. Our tech team is always here to help address any of those issues as well. You can reach them at 800.323.3397, option 2 or techsupport@follettsoftware.com. Thank you for your reivew!

 ### 37. It is an intuitive, easy-to-use, and highly versatile platform, adapted to our needs.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joy S. | Bibliotecaria, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

What I like most about Destiny Library Manager is its ease of use and user-friendly interface, which allows us to catalog texts in a simple and precise manner. As for user service, it offers very valuable resources like WebPath Express, which facilitates safe online searches for our users. Additionally, Titlewave is another exceptional tool that enhances the visual experience when searching for texts, making the process more interactive and appealing. Destiny also allows us to record loans quickly and efficiently, and provides excellent functionality to evaluate the entire book collection comprehensively.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I don't find anything in particular that I dislike about Destiny Follett. However, I would like to see the incorporation of AI-based tools, such as personalized book recommendations based on borrowing history, automatic creation of book clubs by age groups, or book suggestions based on common interests. Additionally, an AI that optimizes the bibliographic collection, analyzes reading trends, and manages loans and reminders automatically would further enhance the experience for users and administrators.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Follett's technical service is good, however, I believe there is room for improvement, especially in response times.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> We're thrilled to hear that you find Follett Destiny Library Manager intuitive and versatile. We're constantly working to improve our services, so we appreciate your feedback about incorporating AI-based tools for personalized book recommendations and automated collection management. We'll definitely take your suggestions into consideration for future updates.

 ### 38. Destiny is for you.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager provides our schools with an easy and effective way of tracking our library inventory. It is easy to train our media aides on the system's basic functions and how to navigate, which is essential due to the turnover rate we experience in that position. From an administration standpoint, I appreciate being able to run various reports and having the ability to view each school's dashboard to have a quick view of where they stand. I am looking forward to the winter rollout and the AI features that are built-in. It looks like it will be easier to generate specific reports.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

In order to get specific information built into a report, I often have to research (YouTube or Google) how to set the necessary parameters in order to get the desired results. The reports side of things isn't always user friendly; however, I am looking forward to the new AI features, because it seems like it may be easier to generate reports that are meaningful to the work I'm doing in our libraries.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to track lost materials and charge students for those items based on our records in Destiny. Additionally, when we have had environment issues and books needed to be replaced, I was easily able to determine how much each book cost and what it would take to replace them through insurance or internal funding.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that the system has been beneficial in tracking your library inventory and providing essential reports. We appreciate your feedback on the user-friendliness of the reports and are excited for you to explore the new AI features coming in the winter rollout, which aim to simplify report generation.

We understand the importance of easily accessing specific information and will take your feedback into consideration for future enhancements. If you encounter any challenges or have suggestions for improvement, please feel free to reach out to our support team: 800.323.3397, option 2 or techsupport@follettsoftware.com. ### 39. Destiny Listens: I am so excited to use the new Unified Navigation 22.5

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I am a district level user and I have been in need of running whole district weeding and circulation reports. With this new update 22.5, they have added that feature as well as a District Wide Collection Analysis! I can't wait to get my eyes on that data! My media specialists use Destiny every day and I know these new updates will help us all. I also love how we can personalize the Destiny Discover Home Page for students at each school site with configurations of top circulated titles, new titles for checkout, or search by subject. I have been asking for more options for district users and they listened. Thank you Destiny!

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

One of the biggest struggles is remember how to access different reports and what options to select to gather the correct data. If you don't run that report often, you forget the breadcrumbs to select to get it to populate correctly. I am hoping with the new AI integration, that will be alleviated. I can say, when I call for customer support, the Destiny expert on the line is always helpful and great at problem solving. So, if you are in need of support, don't be afraid to call. They are very knowledgeable and can trouble shoot with you if you are having trouble implementing tools or reports.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed more options for running reports for our district and collecting data across the board, and they listened. With the new roll out of the AI integration and Unified Navigation 22.5 my needs will be met.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your excitement about the new features in Unified Navigation 22.5! We are thrilled to hear that the District Wide Collection Analysis and district-level weeding and circulation reports are going to be beneficial for you and your team. We appreciate your feedback about the challenges in accessing different reports, and we are continuously working to improve user experience, including through AI integration. We are glad to hear that our customer support team has been helpful to you. We are committed to providing you with the best possible experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager. Thank you for being a valued customer!

 ### 40. Seems Outdated and Limited

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

It's important to be able to run reports, which the Manager allows you to do. I'm glad they are going to release an AI component, although I am surprised that there will be a paid version. It seems like something that should be included.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The user interface looks really outdated and in the 3 years I've been using it, there don't seem to be any significant updates that have been made. People post needed changes on the Community Page, and nothing ever seems to happen. For example, it's ridiculous that Collections can not be sorted by Call Number and that you have to click on each book in a collection to find out if it is available or checked out. Folks requested that years ago.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to keep track of what I have in my collection, search for books related to a particular theme or topic, and manage circulation.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hello! Thank you for your review. We would love to connect with you to ensure we help with these issues with the interface. You can contact me at adoherty@follettsoftware.com and I can escalate this to our team. In addition, Destiny AI is available in the latest version of Destiny, and requires the Unified Navigation feature. I can provide more information there for you as well!

 ### 41. Library Manager

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katherine W. | School Library Media Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I appreciate Follett Destiny Library Manager for its user-friendly interface, which makes managing books, resources, and media easy. I value its powerful cataloging and search features, customizable settings, and efficient circulation and inventory management. The system integrates well with other school platforms and offers detailed reports and analytics to help school librarians make informed decisions. Additionally, its support for eBooks and digital resources, along with the flexibility of cloud-based access, allows me to easily manage the library remotely and provide students with easy access to a wide range of materials.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I’ve found that some librarians using Follett Destiny Library Manager feel it’s quite expensive, especially for smaller schools or libraries with tighter budgets. While the system is generally user-friendly, there can be a learning curve with advanced features, and some wish for more customization options for the interface and reports. Oveeall it is worth it to me with their good customer support.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager helps us manage both library and resource materials that otherwise would be overwhelming to keep track of without a proper system.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive feedback about Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that you find the interface user-friendly and appreciate the system's powerful features for managing books and resources effectively. We understand your concerns about pricing and customization options and will certainly take that feedback into consideration for future improvements. We're glad to hear that our customer support has been helpful to you. If you have any specific suggestions or further feedback, please feel free to reach out to me at adoherty@follettsoftware.com. We're here to assist you with any questions or assistance you may need. Thank you for choosing Follett Destiny Library Manager to help streamline your library management processes!

 ### 42. Follett Library Manager - Good for the Job

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Libraries | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I really like several of the features of Library Manager. It is relatively easy to add new records using several approaches - title, author, ISBN etc. Circulation is easy as well. In elementary, I use the checkout by homeroom feature which has the students' ID pictures. We are web hosted.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

There are a few downsides: the integration between Back Office and Destiny Discover still has a few glitches. A big one is that for Collections that are populated from a B.O. Resource List do not update when the RL is updated. Another issue is that books deleted are not removed from a Collection, causing confusion.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FDLM is our library management system. We use it for cataloging and circulation throughout our large district. As we are a unified district and are web-hosted by Follett, this provides continuity when students change levels, i.e. elementary to middle school, etc. as we are updated daily from our district student system.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager! We understand the importance of seamless integration and accurate updating, and we will take your feedback into consideration as we continue to enhance our system!

 ### 43. Destiny

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rosan C. | Teacher Librarian, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Continuous service. Easy check in and out system. Help desk availability is convenient. Destiny Discover has an appealing interface.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Reports can be hard to find when a specific data point is needed. Many times I rely on calling a colleague because I can't find a specific report and "help" is not usually helpful. Allow Discover interface to check out books. RESOURCE LISTS SHOULD TRANSFER TO DISCOVER!
Marc record cleanup with mitinet would be a better package. And offer some free trainings.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's our book catalog and book check out/in service which provides accurate information.
It allows patrons the ability to see what’s in our collection anywhere they have wifi.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback on Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're delighted to hear that you appreciate the continuous service, easy check-in/out system, and convenient help desk availability. We understand your concerns about finding specific reports and will work on improving the search functionality. Your suggestion to allow Discover interface to check out books and transfer resource lists is noted and we will be passing on this feedback. We do have training and resources for Destiny Library Manager on Follett Software community: https://www.follettcommunity.com/s/destiny-library-manager. We hope these are helpful to you as well!

 ### 44. I like it but it’s not perfect

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samantha B. | Media Coordinator/Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

It's very user friendly. What I don't know I can usually figure out quickly in my own. It's a lot of common sense

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

It's not synced correctly maybe on my end. I have spent the past 2 days uploading my students current pics to it. I wish I could make the info upload on my own in bulk. I know that's an option but I couldn't figure out how to do it so I have had to do it one by one

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't know what they are solving. I wish we had a training to show us how to use it to its full potential1

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Samantha, we appreciate your positive feedback on the user-friendliness of Follett Destiny Library Manager. We apologize for the syncing issue and the challenges with bulk uploads. We will work on providing better training resources to help you utilize the system to its full potential.

 ### 45. Lots to Love

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alisha S. | Library Media Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Library Manager is generally user-friendly and easy to use. It has been invaluable for my school library and our district and makes it easy to track books and patrons. I love how easy it is to see what's overdue for each of my classes and being able to do ILL between all our school sites is amazing for access to materials we don't have at our specific site.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I wish it were a little more intuitive to create customized reports and that the search feature functioned more closely to Google.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping me track outdated materials and replace those with newer options and track overdue books.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that it has been invaluable for your school library and district in tracking books and patrons. We appreciate your feedback on areas for improvement, such as creating customized reports and enhancing the search feature. Your input is valuable to us as we strive to enhance our product! Thank you for being a customer!

 ### 46. I have had only positive results with Follet Destiny Library Manager, including customer support.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ginger V. | Library Media Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

One of the most helpful features of Destiny is the limitless reports that can be printed or created for long term data purposes, or just everyday reporting needs. One of the upsides of using Destiny is the user friendly catalog format for students and staff that can even be simplified for the youngest of patrons.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I honestly cannot think of anything I don't like about Follett Destiny Library Manager. I like having the ability to suggest an idea for improvement through the "enhancement request" feature in Follett Community.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to keep track of circulation data is extremely important when seeking more funding for our library!

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for your positive feedback! We're glad to hear that you find the limitless reports and user-friendly catalog format helpful. We're always looking for ways to improve, so we appreciate your suggestion to use the improvement of the enhancement request feature!

 ### 47. Follett Destiny is my Right Hand Man

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paula Q. | Library Media Tech, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Everything is in one place. It keeps me organized. Reports in Destiny have come a long way in the 12 plus years I have been using it.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Sometimes reports can be too restrive for high school use. High schools don't use homerooms. We need to run reports by periods and teacher to send notices to students and teachers. I often need to let teachers know which students in their classes still need to return a book each period and we still don't have a report for that.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Destiny helps keep track of lost books and the fines owed.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager! We understand your concern about the restrictions on reports for high school use, and we will take this feedback into account as we continue to improve our system. We will passing all of this feedback to our Destiny Library Manager team. Thank you for being a customer!

 ### 48. K-8 School Librarian

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laurel E. | K-8 School Library Media Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I like the ability to set up a self-checkout. I am the librarian for all 3 schools in my district (K-8, 1200 students) and I cannot physically be at all places at once. Self-checkout enables students and staff to get what they need when I am not at that campus.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Enrichment reports often still include books that were weeded, regardless if the collection has been reuploaded to Titlewave.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our collections were severely outdated when I inherited them last school year. Follett has made it easy to identify which books need to be weeded and gaps in the collection to purchase new books.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> We're glad to hear that you find the self-checkout feature helpful in managing multiple school libraries. We understand the importance of accessibility for students and staff, and we're pleased that this feature is meeting your needs! Regarding enrichment reports, we have some new updates with that in the Destiny v.22.5 Winter Release which our product manager goes over! Please view the recording here: https://follettsoftware.com/resource/unveil-the-future-of-education-technology-destiny-winter-release-webinar.

 ### 49. Follett Destiny Library Manager is a Great Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tina E. | Library Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I like the fact that everything is in one place. I can do administrative work as well as assist my students within Destiny. It is a tool that I use during my entire work day.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

When selecting date for various reports I wish that I could type in a date instead of having to go through the calendar.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager allows me to send out notices to students as well as print them and also schedule them. I use many of the reports to help with weeding, top and bottom titles, locating books for multiple displays, and so much more.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager. We understand your frustration with the date selection process and will take your suggestion into consideration for future updates! Thank you for being a customer Tina!

 ### 50. Easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Suite is super easy to manage. If you ever have questions there is always an online video to help you. My students find it easy to look for books in our catalog as well put books om hold. Personally I think it makes the library alot easier to run compared to the program used at my last school. It's easy to look up books, complete records, check what other schools have in their catalog, create records and more.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I would like more options to be able to delete holds when students have had them for too long.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's easy to track both our resources like ipads as well as our books and their locations. Titlewave is definitely a great part of the program. It is easy to find the right books for my students with their reviews.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> We're thrilled to hear that Follett Destiny Suite has made managing your library easier and more efficient. We appreciate your feedback about the need for more options to delete holds, and we will definitely consider that for future enhancements.
