# Which ecommerce search platforms let you run a store without building category pages?

Hi, reviewers and researchers who cover ecommerce search platforms, this one's for you. We're trying to map which tools in the E-Commerce Search category can generate a filtered, browsable collection on the fly instead of someone hand-building a category page for every new attribute combination. The catalog here changes weekly, so the goal is fewer pages to maintain by hand, not zero navigation for shoppers.

What we're looking for:

Rule-based or AI merchandising that assembles a collection, say "waterproof hiking boots under $150," from facets alone, without a dev ticket for every new landing page

Faceted navigation solid enough that a facet combination reads like an actual page, not a raw filtered results dump

A way to keep the handful of categories that already rank well in organic search static and hand-tuned, while letting the long tail run as dynamic collections

Indexing fast enough that a dynamically generated page doesn't go stale the moment stock or price changes

A few we've been researching on G2:

Constructor: Collections auto-build themed groupings from behavior and catalog signals, no static SKU lists, but it takes real merchandiser upkeep.

Algolia: Category Merchandising and Dynamic Facets pin, hide, and reorder an on-the-fly page; cost climbs fast at this catalog size.

Bloomreach: Dynamic Categories generate and refresh pages from rules with zero developer involvement, the most literal match to the question, though it means buying into a bigger platform than just search.

Doofinder: worth a mention for Category Merchandising, but it's built to reorder existing category pages rather than generate new ones, so it fits the "keep and improve" side more than "skip building it."

Does your answer change if a category is already ranking well organically? At what point is it worth keeping that one page static and hand-tuned instead of letting the dynamic system run it?

Yes—the SEO value of an already-ranking category is a strong reason to keep it static and deliberately optimized rather than hand control over completely. Dynamic collections make the most sense for long-tail combinations where freshness and merchandising scale matter more than preserving an established search footprint.
