What is Fishbowl, and what problem is it built to solve?

Fishbowl helps small and midsize manufacturers and distributors manage inventory, manufacturing, and warehousing without the cost or complexity of a full ERP. It brings stock tracking, production, and purchasing into one system and can sync with QuickBooks or Xero.

What languages does Fishbowl support?

Fishbowl supports 1 language: English.

What company sizes and industries is Fishbowl the best fit for?

Fishbowl is most often used by small businesses, with mid-market companies also represented. Users span a range of industries, with manufacturing, wholesale, food production, construction, and retail especially visible.
  • Company size — Small businesses: The clearest concentration is among organizations with 50 or fewer employees.
  • Company size — Mid-market: Organizations with 51–1,000 employees are also represented.
  • Industries: Manufacturing, wholesale, food production, construction, and retail are recurring areas of use.

What customer support options does Fishbowl provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Fishbowl provides support through chat, email, and phone. The experience is often described as helpful and knowledgeable, particularly for resolving product questions and setup issues, though some users encounter waits or inconsistent answers.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Fishbowl from another tool?

Teams often move to Fishbowl when their previous system—especially QuickBooks used alone—doesn’t provide the inventory, manufacturing, or order-management depth they need. Users also describe replacing spreadsheets or other inventory tools to get better tracking across locations, lot and serial tracking, and connected purchasing and fulfillment workflows. The transition can involve setup work, data cleanup, and a learning curve, while training and support have helped teams work through those challenges.

What tools and platforms does Fishbowl integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Fishbowl offers 35 integrations, and users connect it with accounting, e-commerce, CRM, shipping, and EDI tools.
  • Accounting: QuickBooks Desktop Pro, QuickBooks Online, Xero
  • E-commerce: Shopify is mentioned in user accounts; the listed options include WooCommerce and BigCommerce
  • CRM: Salesforce Platform
  • Shipping: ShipStation and FedEx Ship Manager
  • EDI: SPS Commerce Fulfillment EDI and TrueCommerce EDI
These connections can reduce manual order and inventory updates and help keep fulfillment and accounting workflows aligned. Users also note that integration setup and data mapping can take work, so it’s worth checking the needs of each connected system.

What features or capabilities could make Fishbowl even more useful?

Fishbowl could be more useful with more flexibility in reporting and day-to-day workflows. The recurring improvement requests include:
  • Make reporting easier to customize: Let users build and adjust useful reports themselves, with less reliance on custom report work.
  • Smooth out navigation and workflows: Reduce extra steps between modules and make common tasks more direct.
  • Improve flexibility for correcting records: Make it easier to fix mistakes and adjust orders or inventory after transactions are processed.
  • Expand integration and operational flexibility: Improve integration mapping and provide more options for specialized manufacturing and warehouse processes.

"Affordable and User-Friendly Solution"
4/5
What do you like best about Fishbowl?

The total cost of the product and its overall ease of use are important factors for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fishbowl?

My main concern is the lack of options to correct or fix data once an error is discovered. While I realize that certain financial information must remain unchanged after periods are closed, even a simple mistake can create significant problems for future reporting if there is no way to address it. "Not Ideal for Food Manufacturing, Better for Simple Inventory Needs"
2.5/5
What do you like best about Fishbowl?

Fishbowl works reasonably well as an inventory tool for simple, repeatable workflows. It connects to QuickBooks and can support basic order processing and inventory tracking, especially for businesses with steady, predictable demand and e-commerce style ordering. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fishbowl?

Fishbowl is not a good fit for food manufacturing. It struggles with the complexity of changing production schedules, frequent changeovers, and seasonal volume swings. The system is rigid and better suited to stable, repeatable orders than to dynamic food production. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great for managing our small businesses inventory needs while growing our brand!"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Fishbowl?

Easy to integrate with our sales systems. We moved from our own website design that was causing issues and when we found Shopify, we desperately needed an inventory system that worked and flowed with that and really allowed our warehouse to focus on the growth happening and manage orders 10x easier than before. Overall our warehouse team has not had any issues with getting any help or errors resolved with their tech support. Good service all around! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fishbowl?

The initial setup and integration was hard for us specifically since we were coming from our own outdated systems to the 21st century and we learned really quick what we were missing out on before with this new system. After some time, we got everything working together seamlessly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Training with Trainer"
5/5
What do you like best about Fishbowl?

I really felt like the training staff at Fishbowl are super engaged and passionate about the work they are doing. I had the pleasure to work with Garrett Dean, and he was amazing, completely engaged and had great ideas for how to leverage the software to work for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fishbowl?

There are various modules that make the software expensive, it is important to do your reach to understand what you will need and how this will roll out for your organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good Step Up From Shopify Inventory But Not as Dynamic as we would like"
2.5/5
What do you like best about Fishbowl?

Fishbowl is very rigid and strict about what it does. It forces you to be accurate on inventory numbers, production, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fishbowl?

That rigidness can be great but it makes it so the integrations aren't dynamic forcing you to have to do a lot of manual work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Sales pitch does not translate into implementation, wreak havoc in our main system (QB)"
0/5
What do you like best about Fishbowl?

Support team very helpful and knowledgeable on their product. Some features available in FB not available in QB hence we tried to make the switch Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fishbowl?

Rigidity. Implementation team knows their product but is not knowledgeable about interface and impact on apps they impact, in our case QuickBooks. It is one thing to tell your customers integration with QuickBooks works very well, it is another to help customer embark on Fishbowl and NOT offer any support as soon as issue is on QB (but stems from the integration with FB). Implementation team quick to send you to support team while they should be knowledgeable about everything including the apps they claim their product integrate well with. Obviously, no support whatsoever when you want to disconnect FB and revert to old system because integration did not work and wreak havoc in your system and operations. "Multiple wonderful support and customer service experiences!"
5/5
What do you like best about Fishbowl?

Fishbowl's customer support is unmatched - every single person I have interacted with has been amazing and so helpful. The implementation process while lengthy has gone smoothly due to such amazing customer service. As we learn how to use Fishbowl, I find its systems very straightforward and intuitive even with the learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fishbowl?

The setup process was very time consuming and sometimes confusing, but we have had such amazing support throughout the entire process. There are some features for our existing ERP that are not quite the same in Fishbowl, but it seems that the custom reports team will be able to help with one of those important aspects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Robert Lockard of Fishbowl

We've worked hard at Fishbowl to organize our support team in a way that maximizes the amount of service we're able to give to wonderful customers like you. Our aim is to keep response times as low as possible and ensure you get the expert help you need to handle any challenge from implementation to integration and beyond.

I'm happy to report that Fishbowl AI Insights is now available to help you quickly generate dashboards and custom reports without having to go through the Custom Reports team. You can learn more about how that process works in the link below.

"Good but could be better"
4/5
What do you like best about Fishbowl?

I like the price of Fishbowl and how well the push pull API works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fishbowl?

The software could be compiled better such as: adding more ways to filter date without pulling reports. Add the picking module to the calendar. add bill splits to the SO module. create a filter to sort SO priority in sales module. create a filter to sort by salesperson in the picking module. create a start and stop pick date and present on the calendar. capability to manually split pick tickets in the picking module. It would be better for our industry if we had a software that was set up for job shops meaning more form and function than an inventory software but not as complex and expensive as the manufacturing module. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Robert Lockard of Fishbowl

You are awesome! It's so helpful to receive input like this from great customers like you. I will make sure your suggestions get passed on to the developers at Fishbowl to see if they can implement them in future updates. It's constructive feedback like this that helps us dramatically improve our software in new and exciting ways. Your experience with our software is what matters most, and we'll seek to make it even better.

If you'd like to see what's on our road map for improvements to the software and additional features we're planning on adding, feel free to check out the link below.
