FirstEdit Reviews & Product Details

Most documents reach writing and editing teams with errors that should never have got that far. Wrong terminology. Inconsistent brand names. House style violations. The kind of mechanical mistakes that consume expert review time. FirstEdit runs a first-pass edit before review begins. It enforces your house style, terminology, and brand conventions automatically — returning tracked changes that reviewers can approve or reject one by one. Every change is visible. Nothing is altered silently. FirstEdit is built for teams that produce documents at volume, such as proposal and bid teams, medical writers, communications departments, and regulated industries where terminology precision matters. It works via email, browser, or API, and fits into existing review workflows without requiring writers or editors to change how they work. FirstEdit is built to be reliable. It orchestrates a series of AI agents: one for every aspect you want FirstEdit to check. It also double-checks every suggestion with a separate AI model to ensure its reliability. When FirstEdit is uncertain, it skips the change rather than guessing. That's by design. Over-editing creates cleanup work. Under-editing costs nothing the existing review wouldn't catch anyway. For enterprise teams, FirstEdit is built on Microsoft Azure with end-to-end encryption and no data retention. Your documents are deleted immediately after processing. The result: reviewers open a document that's already been cleaned up. They spend their time on meaning, message, and impact — not on catching the same mechanical errors they've been catching for years. Built by the team behind PerfectIt, the leading software for consistency checking and house style enforcement since 2009. Official partner of The Chicago Manual of Style and the Microsoft Writing Style Guide.
