This company has zero commitment to the environment, and very little empathy for the recipient when it comes to exchanges. I had an exchange issue on a laptop and had saved the original packaging from the first machine. It was 100% viable. I even asked to NOT receive a new empty box for the return. For some reason thay can't figure out how to verify a box is viable for return and simply issue a label. I travel a ton, so I had to wait for a new empty box and trash the existing. Firstbase has made managing remote employee equipment incredibly easy. The platform is intuitive, reliable, and has significantly reduced the time we spend onboarding new hires each week. It’s such a relief to offload the heavy lifting to a partner we trust.

One area where we ran into challenges was with the integration for our HRIS, which Firstbase provides through Merge.dev. We entered implementation assuming the integration would work out of the box with our existing processes, but we discovered a limitation in how our HRIS handles new hires versus active employees. New hires aren’t created as employee records until after they complete their onboarding tasks, yet Firstbase relies on those employee records to identify new hires and trigger welcome emails. By the time the record exists, it’s already too late in the workflow for timely equipment delivery.

To be clear, this behavior is an HRIS limitation, not a Firstbase issue. However, we were hoping Firstbase would be more familiar with the nuances of the integration they provide and flag this as a potential challenge during implementation. Since we work remotely, it's understandable that not everything is flawless. The main issue I've noticed is that the status of a device occasionally doesn't reflect its actual state. We’re still early with Firstbase, but it’s been smooth from the start. They make global IT logistics actually work getting devices to new hires in challenging territories, handling returns and offboarding without the usual headaches. I've onboarded Firstbase at two organizations now as an IT Engineer.

Firstbase is the modern IT asset management approach. Everything else is so dated. They're so cutting edge with how they handle this stuff that they don't really have any serious competitors right now.

Firstbase has made device procurement and shipping way easier for our team. I like that I can place an order, track it, and trust the process without having to chase down vendors or shipping details. I like that Firstbase consolidates everything into one platform, replacing multiple vendors and significantly reducing the manual work for our team. It helps us save time instead of manually visiting different sites to obtain the information we need about a device. Their customer support is great too; I don't hesitate to reach out to them, and I know they will respond promptly. I appreciate the syncs with our Sales team, as they are constantly requesting improvements to the Firstbase portal, and changes are implemented based on our feedback. It was easy to set up, and the Firstbase team successfully assisted us in transferring all our equipment information. I would give them 10 because it has made our work easier to manage, especially since we are no longer spending hours erasing/assessing computers and updating our portals. One area for improvement would be the addition of detailed reporting or customization options. I would like to access the portal, and instead of filtering for the devices we have, I would like a filter that shows the number of devices available per warehouse. I appreciate how Firstbase handles all new hire device logistics automatically from our HRIS and takes care of automatic offboarding and peripheral purchases for offices. I love that in a few clicks, I can order devices to stock the warehouse and send device refreshes to existing employees. Most of our new hires' devices are dispatched without any input or action from my team, which has given us many hours back in our day to devote to other meaningful projects. I find it difficult to see active warehouse stock. It would be helpful if the approval page showed how many devices are in stock so I could make better decisions about approving or updating orders. Some of our devices are custom ordered, and there's a long lead time to have the out-of-stock laptop drop shipped, so we try to avoid that by only approving devices that are in stock. Also, the UI for inventory orders can be tricky to navigate. Device spec availability can differ between countries, and I often struggle to find the exact laptop I want to purchase, and if I make a mistake, I have to email Support to cancel the order. I appreciate how thorough the support team is when communicating with our employees, with multiple follow-up emails and including documentation and workflows for every situation. The Okta integration is a big plus as it creates new hire user accounts and auto-assigns equipment packages based on an employee's role or department, cutting down our manual work and giving us time back. I'd like to have more visibility into laptops that require repairs. A repair portal where all devices needing repair cost approval are visible would be beneficial, rather than needing to ensure I'm not missing an email that is awaiting my approval.
