## Factry Historian Reviews
  ### 1. Great modern tool for industrial applications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Chemicals | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Factry Historian?**

Factry is a simple yet powerful tool for data analysis and reporting. The feature packed software keeps improving each year with additional features with feedback from customers.
Combined with the dashboarding of Grafana, both operator and managers are finding the tool useful for monitoring, analyzing and alerting the users.

**What do you dislike about Factry Historian?**

Some nice to have features are not yet implemented. However, since using the software since 2023, Factry team constantly improves it with customer feedback.

**What problems is Factry Historian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Réal time data monitoring, analyzing and alerting for every user with the right access.

  ### 2. User friendly and great customer support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evan W. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Factry Historian?**

Accessibility to our process data is what I find most helpful about Factry Historian. And a major upside to it is the volume of data it can process and the ease at which you can do so.

**What do you dislike about Factry Historian?**

There are always features that will benefit your workflow that may be missing but Factry's team is receptive to feedback and your proposed feature may make it into a future release.

**What problems is Factry Historian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Factry Historian helps us monitor our processes at a higher level. Operators will always have the control systems in place but Factry Historian allows us to track batches, CIPs and other events. In addition we can seemlessly keep up with inventories and ultility usages.

  ### 3. No BS, built on open source historian

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Factry Historian?**

Factry historian does what it is supposed to do.
It connects easily to the factory and combined with the intuitivity of grafana, allows the end-user to consume the data with little to no training.
There are no limitations about the number of tags that can be captured.
It uses open source software/platforms like (postgresql, influxdb, linux) in the backend and a browser for the frontend.

**What do you dislike about Factry Historian?**

The only things I can think of are things are nice-to-have features, I am sure that they will be implemented soon in the latest version.

**What problems is Factry Historian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It stores all our time-related production data
Allows the retrieval of that data in easy to read, real-time dashboards
It transforms our raw data into usable information for our operational teams

  ### 4. Modern data historian system with no artificial limitations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Factry Historian?**

Unlike many old-school data historians, Factry Historian doesn't impose artificial limits on the number of users or collected data points. This ethos of 'openness' is also apparent elsewhere in the system, with Grafana, the system's main dashboarding tool, and its databases offering almost endless possibilities for creating powerful customized solutions for visualizing and analyzing data from industrial systems.

**What do you dislike about Factry Historian?**

Factry Historian is still a comparatively new and rapidly evolving product, and can be rough around the edges at times. The good thing is that the team behind it takes customer feedback seriously and often implements bugfixes and improvements very quickly.

**What problems is Factry Historian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Factry Historian has significantly lowered the barrier to visualizing and analyzing production data by various stakeholders. The system's Event Module in particular has been immensely powerful for extracting and aggregating data related to specific events (like production batches and CIP cycles) from raw time series data, enabling us to increase efficiency and consistency of our production processes.

  ### 5. Flexible and easy to use for data management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maarten G. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Factry Historian?**

What I like the most about Factry Historian is the event module. Making it possible to summarize data by shift, do run to run analysis or find the best parameter set.. all easily setup and the visualized in Grafana.

**What do you dislike about Factry Historian?**

Calculations scripts have to be written in Tengo. Something I'm not familiar with but we can count excellent support.

**What problems is Factry Historian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Factry Historian helps us lowering the complexity of our processes

  ### 6. Monitoring biomass boilers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Javier C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Factry Historian?**

How it made available a lot of data that was not actionable. We had locally stored information from our SCADA system which was stored locally. Now everything is in the cloud and easily accessible, which allows us to understand better what is going on and relevant trends.

Using Grafana as the front end has been a good choice for us. It required some learning time, but it is a useful tool that's easy to use for anyone and keeps improving with a large community.

**What do you dislike about Factry Historian?**

So functionalities can be complicated to use in Grafana, such as transformations for data visualization and alerting. Both related to Grafana more than Factry, some extra tutorials with examples could be useful.

**What problems is Factry Historian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing us to access easily large amounts of data to analyze and improve our decision-making. This helps with a better allocation of efforts to improve our boilers efficiency and disponibility.

  ### 7. A very User Friendly tool with useful features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexis C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Factry Historian?**

The automatic failove redundancy functionality.

**What do you dislike about Factry Historian?**

I would like the possibility to do more filter for the measurements in the historian and maybe to create some groups with some users acces for each tags.

**What problems is Factry Historian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Factry historian help us to have a visualization on our production data and to start to make some analysis to reduce our production cost, our quality issues, ..

  ### 8. Factry simplifies the management of 4.0 big data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Franky V. | E&I manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Factry Historian?**

Monitoring thousands of data and measurement points and associated trend analysis becomes easily manageable through self-created dashboards and trend pages.
Retrieving data from years ago can be done quickly thanks to strongly implemented data management.
The learning curve for operators and administrators is not too steep.
Data management across several production sites is easily possible.
Factry can provide connectors to any known industrial standard.

**What do you dislike about Factry Historian?**

So far, we haven't really encountered a weak point.
Since we store our data in the cloud, we do depend a little more on a good network connection; but that is actually outside the Factry application.

**What problems is Factry Historian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Factry system allows operators to quickly and effectively keep track of a "forest" of data.
Operators and production managers can detect anomalies much faster.

  ### 9. Open source all the way!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Factry Historian?**

The data collected with factry historian is completely yours and you can do whatever you want to do with it, without being bound to (black box) solutions, so no surprises or artificial 'extra services'. It's a very transparant, honest company.

**What do you dislike about Factry Historian?**

The dashboardingsystem used by Factry, called 'Grafana' is very nice and with a low learning curve, but lacks functionallity for more complex issues and alerts.

**What problems is Factry Historian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralising data. More insight in the performance of our wind turbines. No time spent on getting data. Less time spent on analysing data.
Our turbines are controlled by GO-code written by Factry employees; they are stopped automatically when shadow flicker nuisance occurs.

  ### 10. Flexible solutions supported by well experienced engineers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Packaging and Containers | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Factry Historian?**

Afforadable solution that allows for collecting and storing data at machine speed en store any relevant time in detail.

Based on open standards that are very well supported by InfluxDB and Grafana.

Factry keeps up with the stable releases of the underlaying open source technologies.

**What do you dislike about Factry Historian?**

Not a dislike but before starting an implementation project you need to consider your needs and spend time to set standards and design. With all available flexibility, (design) choices have to me made and standards set.

Factry is not an Out-Of-The-Box solution but a platform than can do almost everything.

**What problems is Factry Historian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Insight in process parameters (settings and process values) correlated to quality and usage.

Monitoring of electricity consumption in our plant per workcenter, machine or application

  ### 11. Fast and versatile solution for Industry 4.0

Simple interface that works through browser.

**What problems is Factry Historian solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Agreggation of process data (time series) on batch level
