## About Expo
Expo is the leading open-source platform for building cross platform mobile apps. As of May 2026 Expo averages more than 4 million weekly downloads and is used by millions of developers all over the world. Founded in 2013 and based in San Francisco, Expo provides a complete development platform that covers the full mobile app lifecycle: from writing code with Expo Router and the Expo SDK (100+ maintained libraries), to building in the cloud with EAS Build, pushing over-the-air updates with EAS Update, submitting to the App Store and Play Store with EAS Submit, and automating mobile CI/CD pipelines with EAS Workflows. Expo eliminates the hardest parts of mobile development. Cloud builds run on dedicated M4 Pro hardware without requiring local Xcode or Android Studio setup. OTA updates let teams push JavaScript changes to production in minutes without app store review. EAS Workflows automates builds, tests, and deployments with mobile-optimized CI/CD that runs 2-3x faster than generic CI providers. Teams use Expo to ship production apps faster with less infrastructure overhead. The platform handles iOS and Android code signing, app store credentials, build configuration, and deployment automation so developers can focus on building features. Expo supports apps of any size, from solo developer side projects to enterprise teams shipping apps used by millions.

## Expo Reviews
  ### 1. Streamlined Cross-Platform App Development

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bob V. | Founder and CTO, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Expo?**

I really appreciate Expo, especially for its managed workflow in Expo Application Services (EAS). It allows me to write React Native code once and deploy it to both iOS and Android efficiently. This simplifies cloud builds and over-the-air updates, removing the friction of native tooling so I can focus on delivering features rapidly. I also find the initial setup quite straightforward, as the Expo CLI lets me have a project running in minutes. The managed workflow abstracts away a lot of complexity, making it easy even for those new to mobile development.

**What do you dislike about Expo?**

One area that could be improved is the cost scaling.

**What problems is Expo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Expo solves the complexity of building cross-platform apps with a single code base. It streamlines development, handles updates, offers cloud builds, and lets me focus on features by reducing native configuration time.

  ### 2. Effortless Setup and Seamless App Deployment with Expo

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cory C. | Engineering Team Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Expo?**

I use Expo to generate new app build pipelines through EAS workflows and handle pushing Over The Air updates automatically. I love the ease of entry; I can spin up new apps and get them in the store in days, not weeks. The managed workflow handles a lot of the security of new packages and testing for compatibility with each SDK, which is immensely helpful in upgrading our main framework each month. It also takes care of a lot of app store configuration with minimal effort from me. Setting it up initially was super easy!

**What do you dislike about Expo?**

I think some of the logging could be a bit easier to dive into. Just ways for me to find out what happened or what went wrong without having to run things more manually sometimes.

**What problems is Expo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Expo to efficiently generate new app build pipelines with EAS workflows and automate OTA updates. It manages security and compatibility testing, simplifies app store configuration, and allows quick app deployment.

  ### 3. Expo and EAS Make React Native Faster, Easier, and More Stable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Isaac H. | Software Engineering Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Expo?**

Absolutely could not imagine React Native without Expo and EAS. Makes the React Native experience 10x easier, faster, and more stable.

**What do you dislike about Expo?**

Pricing could be better – ad hoc builds at $2 per iOS build are a bit steep.

**What problems is Expo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MAS deployment, over the air updates, many React Native modules/SDKs.
