Great POS Screen and Loyalty Tracking, but Reporting and QuickBooks Integration Fall Very Short **Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** April R. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2026 **What do you like best about Epicor Propello?** The point of sale screen with the quick add menu is very nice. The reliability as far as very little down times with Epicor. That part is very important to us. The Smart ordering points is usually pretty good, but there are still glitches with it that can be bewildering. Epicor did a pretty good job of taking our previous POS inventory and uploading to Epicor which was great. But there were elements that they missed with this part that has caused issues down the road for us. **What do you dislike about Epicor Propello?** The reporting on sales is pretty slim to no existent compared to other POS softwares. Support is 8/10 not helpful. The interegration with quickbooks is not smooth and was oversold during our trial time with Epicor which is extremely frustrating. **What problems is Epicor Propello solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tracking our inventory as far as sales go and helping us get items restocked into the store through Purchase Orders. Helping us track our customers and allowing them to earn rewards. ### 2. Support personnel are prompt and knowledgeable. Allows us to do things in our small mom and pop hardware store that I previously was not able to do. **What do you dislike about Epicor Propello?** Probably the toughest thing for us is the cost especially during the lean winter months in northern Michigan. Early on we ran into many times when the item price through Propello wasn't the same as the vendor (Do It Best) price. Like the files weren't fully downloading. This has mostly been rectified. **What problems is Epicor Propello solving and how is that benefiting you?** The most prominent benefit initially was to be able to create shelf labels for all of our products. This allowed for better organization and merchandising within our store. This made the shopping experience better for our customers. It allowed for much better inventory control for us through use of reports and less out of stocks. It is helping us run a much leaner organization, identifying strengths and weaknesses in our mix. It has taken our old hardware store that was founded in 1882 and had allowed us access to the same tools that the big boys have. ### 3. The Quick Find feature is very helpful for bulky or large items or those stored in a yard or backroom where you don't have a barcode to scan. Also helpful for bulk items or items by the piece (hardware, chain, rope, pipe, etc.) Easy to navigate the software in the browser to various areas to perform back end functions. **What do you dislike about Epicor Propello?** Some of the reports require quite a bit of manipulation of the data in Excel in order to get the information you want. The regularly scheduled reports are nice but the information disappears (link no longer active) after a certain amount of time. **What problems is Epicor Propello solving and how is that benefiting you?** Biggest help is with inventory and pricing management. Prior to implementing Propello, the store when I purchased it was paper and pencil, if that. There was no inventory management to speak of and many loose items (think bins of plumbing and electric fittings, etc) had items with 2 or 3 different price tags from different orders over the years and a bin tag that may not have matched any of them! ### 4. It gives us a lot of information that our old, outdated system simply couldn’t provide. Since it’s cloud-based, our managers and staff can access it from anywhere they have Wi‑Fi, which makes it much more convenient for day-to-day work. **What do you dislike about Epicor Propello?** There’s a small amount of information within the reporting features that isn’t as easy to access as it should be, which leads to a few workarounds when I’m trying to retrieve the most accurate information. **What problems is Epicor Propello solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hands down, Propello has helped with our inventory management by enabling us to make better decisions. As a result, we’re not overbuying or underbuying, and it’s improved our bottom line. ### 5. Timely updates to keep the software current. **What do you dislike about Epicor Propello?** It is still a fairly new program so there are some issues that occasionally pop up that sometimes take time to be corrected. Reporting could be improved as well. **What problems is Epicor Propello solving and how is that benefiting you?** The program has great tools to help with forcasting inventory needs and that keeps inventory levels low. Also the POS is very user friendly allowing easy onboarding for new cashiers. ### 6.
