It also has easy integration status as the extension version of it can be installed in low end personal computers. Elastic APM comes with added features that can be used to control systems. This includes reboot, refresh and troubleshooting functions. **What do you dislike about Elastic APM?** Besides being easy to use, search bar lacks filter options. This results to high maintenance costs. Elastic APM commands a huge market segment, which results poor customer support as replies to queries take long to respond **What problems is Elastic APM solving and how is that benefiting you?** This software solves the problem of employing professionals to monitor systems as it is more efficient day and night. This benefits big companies such as manufacturing or communication companies that have numerous functions going on at a single time. Elastic APM monitors systems, hardware and software services and application services in real time. It also collects performance information on these services for client’s evaluation. ### 2. This helps to give the performance analysis of the requests/flows of API's in application and databases. Customer support is also very good and easy to approach in case of any issues. **What do you dislike about Elastic APM?** Integrations are bit complex with the application systems is one of the major challenges I have faced. Since I got good customer support from Elastic team things was sorted in quick time. Full fledged usage comes with license/subscription based usage where free trial is limited to only few features. **What problems is Elastic APM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Observability of application with respect to API calls to database, error tracing, Transaction tracing are the key features which benefitted our team. By continuously monotoring with Elastic APM, we were able to bring performance improvements by optimizing queries to database. ### 3. Very user friendly, intuitive charts that are readable in single "glimpse". Integration up and going in short amount of time. I use it multiple times a week. **What do you dislike about Elastic APM?** KQL can be intimidating for a newbies. Setting of time frame is jumpy - I do not want kibana change my "last 25 hours" to "1 day ago", furthermore, setting time "Now" should not need to be done in two clicks! One could be enough. **What problems is Elastic APM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Identifying bottlenecks, peak times, etc. ### 5. It needs to provide all the tools to monitor and troubleshoot. **What do you dislike about Elastic APM?** The documentation is not helpful. There were instances where I had to experiment and learn through trial and error to understand configurations. Despite encountering some implementation problems their support services proved to be cumbersome. **What problems is Elastic APM solving and how is that benefiting you?** On the downside I find that the platform lacks user friendliness and intuitive navigation compared to APM systems. It requires a learning curve, which is frustrating. The lack of documentation and support, from the team adds to this frustration. ### 6. It helps us for all application metrics Cpu, threads monitoring etc. ### 7. Installing the service was very straight forward and setting up data services is easy as well. You get to see and analyze all the transaction duration to pinpoint the performance and duration of requests. The searches are intuitive and highly customizable with graphs you can create providing fast results. Overall, this is a great tool to monitor your application system and to generate the statistics out of if easily. **What do you dislike about Elastic APM?** I did not find something I dislike about Elastic APM. **What problems is Elastic APM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Elastic APM help us identify and pinpoint slow application performance areas and generate the overall user experience. ### 8. Very easy to config on the cloud and ok for on-prem. Creating custom labels for better indexing as well is excellent. **What do you dislike about Elastic APM?** We face a little problem during implementation with encoding, allowing origin setup and other minor properties, but that delayed our deployment to PRD. Although the documentation is great, sometimes only with test and error could we understand some calls or configs. **What problems is Elastic APM solving and how is that benefiting you?** It groups all our application data, no matter the technology we have (today we have c#, vue.js, OutSystems, APIs) and could integrate all logs to one place only. ### 12. Opbeat also has great customer support, annotated stacktraces, hipchat integration, as well as Github integration. **What do you dislike about Elastic APM?** On a personal note, I don't really like the visualization of Opbeat as well as its code visibility. Also, I really feel that its trouble shooting needs some improvements to enhance the application's overall efficiency. They can do this by taking a leaf from AppDynamics who I do find excellent with regards to the above. **Recommendations to others considering Elastic APM:** Choose Opbeat for small groups. **What problems is Elastic APM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Opbeat made my work easier since it is not expensive to run since it is usually free for small groups.
