Which help learner to focus more on engineering part rather than wasting time in learning software UI. 2) Software Codes are available on Github. If students want to learn the algorithm behind any models, it is available there. You can modify it at your convenience and use it in DWSIM. 3) Developer (Daniel Medeiros and Team) is highly responsive; Whenever I face a problem within a day or two, I get a solution for that problem. 4) Bugs are fixed too fast. 5) Custom model can be built inside python, which is very useful for engineers who have only basic coding knowledge. 6) Missing compounds can be created by using an online database. The same can be done for the interaction parameters. 7) All facilities like optimization, sensitivity study, the thermodynamic diagram can be developed very easily. 8) Advance thermodynamics, Dynamic operators, Neural network operation, cost calculator, are also available and easy to use. 9) CAPE-OPEN component can be used inside DWSIM. **What do you dislike about DWSIM?** 1) Crashing problem. 2) Interaction parameter is not available for all compounds. 3) Conventional and known compounds are available, lesser-known and inorganics compounds are missing. **What problems is DWSIM solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1) In my collages period, I had worked on DWSIM for replicate plants and Research papers which are initially developed in proprietary simulation software to check the compatibility of DWSIM. 2) I also use DWSIM for my intern project which works properly with the real natural gas processing plant. 3) I also work with all major proprietary simulation software as well and I never find any major problem with the features DWSIM has right now. ### 4. The biggest benefit that I had found was I did not require prior detailed knowledge of computer-aided process simulation. The software has a variety of templates and guidelines that helped me a lot. I like the drag and drop system which allows a chemical or energy engineers as well as students building their chemical system in a few minutes. It has a rich Graphical User Interface. It allowed me to understand my system by using rigorous thermodynamic models and unit operation models. It has a simple and user friendly interface of defining the thermodynamic models and the properties of the input of the system and the dynamic simulation is quite accurate. i found the option of comparing the result using different built in property package. The output window is easy to understand and it has options of creating the output report. **What do you dislike about DWSIM?** New users often forget to define the property package adding it at the right of the window. At the middle of the simulation they find it but there is no undo option or any option of adding the property package. I found id most irritating. **Recommendations to others considering DWSIM:** A highly resourced open source simulator for chemical and energy engineers. **What problems is DWSIM solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am solving my chemical system specially an oil and gas refinery simulation. As it is free and allows me do almost all the development of the system, i found it convenient.
