## DigitalOcean Reviews
 ### 1. Gold-Standard UI, Solid Performance, and Fair Per-Second Billing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lee S. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2026

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I’m still a fan of the DO ecosystem. The UI continues to feel like the gold standard for cloud consoles: clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate. Onboarding is also a strong point, especially for teams. It’s straightforward to invite a new developer and get them productive quickly, without a big learning curve.

On the technical side, performance has been consistently solid, and the NVMe storage on the higher tiers really moves. Pricing feels fair overall, and the 2026 shift to per-second billing was a huge win for my batch-processing jobs. I do wish there were a few more native integrations for some of the more niche security tools, but the API is robust enough that I can usually script around the gaps. Support can be a bit slow on the free tier when it isn’t an emergency, but the platform is reliable enough that I rarely need to open a ticket in the first place.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I’m not a fan of how Managed Databases are priced—the jump in cost when you need more storage or a standby node feels pretty steep. And while the UI is great overall, their App Platform can still be a bit of a “black box” when builds fail. The logs aren’t always helpful, and sometimes you end up stuck in a “deployment pending” loop with no clear way to debug it other than nuking the service and starting over.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem DigitalOcean solves for me is operational friction. I'm a developer, not a full-time SysAdmin, and DO lets me treat infrastructure as a utility rather than a chore.

It benefits me by providing a predictable cost model—especially with the new per-second billing—which is a breath of fresh air compared to the 'bill-by-shrug' method of bigger providers. Most importantly, it solves the AI barrier; I can spin up GPU Droplets for model inference without a corporate sales call. It essentially allows a team of one to have the power of a team of ten.

 ### 2. Full Control and Flexible Scaling for Growing Projects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Serhii C. | Founder / Developer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2026

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Full control is the biggest advantage. It gives you the flexibility to build and manage everything your way. Plus, scaling is simple and smooth when your project grows.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The biggest downside for me is the backup system. Not only is it a paid add-on, but there’s also no straightforward way to download those backups, which limits flexibility and control.

Also, sending emails from web apps is not straightforward, since outbound SMTP is blocked by default, requires additional setup for even basic contact forms.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives me full control over my infrastructure. I work mainly via SSH, managing both backend and frontend directly, so I’m not dependent on third parties to resolve issues – I can fix things immediately when needed. This significantly reduces downtime, both for my applications and on DigitalOcean’s side, which has been very reliable.

The UI/UX is also excellent – and with the recent updates it has become even better, while it was already very clean and intuitive before. Everything is clear and easy to navigate. I especially find the Monitoring Agent extremely useful, as it provides a clear overview of a Droplet’s recent performance. Very often, just by checking this section, I can quickly understand where to look when troubleshooting an issue. Each Droplet also has its own dedicated Insights and monitoring section, which makes diagnostics even more convenient.

 ### 3. Unreliable Product, Dishonest Status Page, Inadequate Support

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan C M. | Enterprise Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The core droplet infrastructure is solid and the pricing is competitive. It is a shame the AI/ML product layered on top of it does not meet the same standard.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I run a production AI SaaS on DigitalOcean. Over the last 24 hours, Gradient has broken in three separate ways, all of them still open:

Indexing job on a single small file has been running for 7+ hours, stuck at 0% progress, 0 tokens indexed. The "Download Details" link in the Activity tab is dead. No logs. Support's first response was to ask me for logs I had already told them did not exist.
API keys for bring-your-own-key on production models show 0 agents attached when agents are clearly attached. Engineering has been "actively working on it" with no ETA.
Agent Playground hard-caps max_tokens at 512 regardless of the model selected. I am using my own Anthropic Sonnet 4.6 key and still capped at 512. Engineering has been "actively working on it" with no ETA.

During all of this the DigitalOcean status page has shown all green.
The support workaround for the token cap is to call the Update Agent API manually with curl, which would silently bypass the configuration governance we have in place as part of our compliance posture. That is not a viable workaround for anyone operating under SOC2, ISO 27001, HITRUST, or any serious internal change-management process.
This is not a one-off. On their paid $99/mo support tier, I was chastised for opening multiple tickets that turned out to be the same underlying Gradient issue (which is exactly the kind of correlation support is supposed to make). That escalation then went silent for three weeks. A promised survey credit also failed to post and had to be chased separately.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Theoretically: managed cloud infrastructure and AI/ML orchestration for a production SaaS platform.
In practice: it is generating more operational problems than it solves. Every Gradient outage costs engineering hours to diagnose, support cycles to document, and architectural effort to route around. I have reduced my DO footprint multiple times in direct response to reliability failures. That is the opposite of what infrastructure is supposed to do.

 ### 4. Digital Ocean is a great way to get introduced to Cloud-scale application development with ease

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Garrick C. | Staff Software Engineer, Financial Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2026

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I think they offer a solid cloud option for smaller companies and individuals. Their services are kept simple, so it’s easy to build with them and get started without having to learn a lot upfront.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

It doesn’t provide the full range of services I need for larger-scale enterprise development. Enterprise teams typically need access to a broad set of services to build scalable, robust systems, and Digital Ocean doesn’t necessarily offer all the tools I’m looking for.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I currently only use Digital Ocean for some legacy object storage. The main benefit is knowing my buckets are secure, which gives me peace of mind and the flexibility to move my assets over as I have time.

 ### 5. Cost-Effective Hosting with Predictable Pricing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gauri Shankar S. | IT & Cybersecurity Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2026

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I like that DigitalOcean is more convenient for resources and helps a lot with cost optimizations compared to other options like Amazon Web Services. The predicted price for the next month based on usage is the best part, as it is very helpful since we have to pay at the end of the current month and the start of the next. The documentation is quite managed, making it easier for setup. I often refer DigitalOcean to my friends who are working as DevOps.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I think the app platform inside the DigitalOcean should also include the like database with low storage so that we don't need to buy another module of database.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find DigitalOcean helps with cost optimizations, making it more convenient than other services. I like the predicted price feature, which aids in budgeting by forecasting next month's charges based on current usage.

 ### 6. Simple, Intuitive Cloud Hosting with Predictable Pricing and Clear Docs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Radhika R. | Full Stack developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2026

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean stands out for how simple and straightforward it makes cloud hosting. What i Like best is how easy it is to spin up servers, databases and storage without dealing with overly complex setups or confusing pricing. The dashboards is clean and intuitive, so even if you are new to cloud infrastructure, you can get things running quickly. The predictable pricing and clear documentation also make planning and scaling much less stressful. Overall, it feels like cloud hosting that is powerful enough for real projects , yet easy enough to manage without headaches.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean can feel a bit limited when you need very advanced or enterprise level features. Compared to bigger cloud providers, some managed services, regions or deep customization options are not available. Also while it is great for developers, you still need some technical knowledge to manage servers properly. if something breaks, troubleshooting is mostly on you, which can be challenging if you do not have a strong devOps background.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Digital Ocean solves the problem of complicated and expensive cloud hosting for developers and small teams. Instead of navigating complex setups and unpredictable pricing from larger cloud providers, Digital Ocean offers a simple way to launch and manage servers, databases and other infrastructure with clear pricing and a clean interface. For me, this has been really helpful because i can get projects up and running quickly without spending too much time on infrastructure overhead. the predictable pricing and easy deployment let me focus more on building and improving my applications rather than worrying about billing surprises or steep learning curves. it makes cloud hosting accessible, reliable and much less stressful.

 ### 7. Reliable Platform with Easy Deployment and Extensive Locations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arak C. | Python Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I really like DigitalOcean's great and easy-to-use interface, which makes navigation a breeze. Virtual servers are deployed quickly without any delays, and I appreciate that they have a lot of datacenter locations, ensuring a nearby location is always available. The documentation and how-to instructions provided are great and make the platform pleasurable to use rather than just a work requirement. The interface isn't buggy, which enhances my experience.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I think documentation about setting up SSL certificates for their cloud storage (and interface related to it) can be improved and allow more ways to make the configuration

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean provides servers in multiple locations ensuring availability even if a datacenter is out of capacity. The easy-to-use interface and quick deployment make it a pleasure to use rather than just a work necessity.

 ### 8. Effortless Cloud Management with Intuitive UI and Transparent Billing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sanket P. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 01, 2026

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

What I like best about DigitalOcean is its very simple and smooth UI. Whatever I need, I can find immediately without searching too much or googling. Everything is well organized and easy to understand. Also, I really like that DigitalOcean shows all my resource usage and billing details in one place, which makes cost tracking very clear and transparent. In addition, DigitalOcean provides excellent documentation and tutorials, which makes it easy to learn, troubleshoot issues, and set things up correctly even without deep DevOps knowledge.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

One thing I dislike about DigitalOcean is that when I have too many processes running, like multiple servers and droplets, the dashboard can take slightly more time to load and respond. This becomes noticeable when managing server resources at once. Another drawback is the lack of detailed analytics for deployment. While basic metrics are available, more in-depth insight into CPU, memory, and bandwidth usage, especially at the application or deployment level, is missing. Additionally, some advanced features that are common in other cloud providers, such as deeper networking controls or managed enterprise-level service, are limited or require extra setup.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean solves the problem of complexity and slow setup in cloud infrastructure. Whenever I have a quick client project and need to build a demo fast, I use DigitalOcean because it allows me to deploy small applications quickly without much complexity. I can set up a server or droplet in minutes and focus more on development instead of infrastructure. it provides strong support for containerization using Docker, which makes deployment very easy on droplets. This helps me quickly share working demos with clients and investors without worrying about complicated deployment processes. If I face any issues, DigitalOcean has good community support and well-written documentation, which help me find solutions and fix problems quickly. DigitalOcean also supports Kubernetes, which is a big benefit for me because I deploy almost all of my production projects on Kubernetes. The setup is straightforward, and the pricing is transparent compared to other cloud providers, making it easier to manage production costs. Another useful feature is block storage. I can attach volumes to my servers, take backups or snapshots, and easily move data between servers by creating new volumes and attaching them elsewhere. This makes data management and transfer simple and reliable. DigitalOcean also offers object storage. While it has some limitations, it fully meets my basic requirements, like storing files in the cloud and accessing them from applications when needed. For container workflows, I use the DigitalOcean container registry to push Docker images once the build is ready. From there, I can integrate it with a CI/CD pipeline and deploy the latest version of my application smoothly. The platform offers built-in monitoring and alerts that help me track system health and catch issues early. Also, DigitalOcean provides predictable and affordable pricing, which helps me avoid unexpected costs and plan budgets more confidently.

 ### 9. Simple and Reliable VPS Hosting for Everyday Use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pramoda H. | Web Developer, Machinery, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

What I like most about DigitalOcean is how simple and user-friendly it is. Creating and managing Droplets (VPS) is straightforward and easy, even for someone with only basic knowledge.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

This was a bit challenging for beginners. It requires some technical knowledge to configure SSH, set up the firewall, and properly secure the server.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My work is made easier by being able to test projects on a server (real server environment) where they can be opened very quickly.

 ### 10. Startup-Friendly Support and Flexible Payments

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abdullah H. | Medical Lead & Founder, Medical Practice, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2026

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

They have a startup program that supports startups. They also offer flexible payment options when you’re running short on cash. On top of that, their support team is lovely, understanding, and quick to respond.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

They offer a lot of features; however, I wasn’t able to identify or explore them on my own. I would appreciate it if Digital Ocean could provide each client with a one-on-one guide or support to ensure a smoother, more seamless onboarding experience.
I also dislike about them that they require another vendor to send the SMTP Emails.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing your domain and AI core infrastructure with flexible adaptation and an easy-to-use implementation makes this truly life-changing.

 ### 11. Flexible Droplet Management with Great Customer Service

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I like how flexible it is to manage droplets and apply new specifications when needed, and I’ve also had a good experience with their customer service.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

It’s frustrating that you can’t keep the same IP address when creating a new droplet from scratch.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They host all of my websites, and the shared storage space has never been an issue for any of the droplets I have with them.

 ### 12. My preferred web hosting solution for many years now

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David B. | Product Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I've been using Digital Ocean for about 7-8 years. I've recommended it many times. In terms of freedom, it's so far superior to my previous web hosting options (BlueHost, HostGator etc.). It's also brilliant in terms of monitoring (checking uptime for my droplets) and the UI/UX is generally very easy to use and navigate. Pricing is pretty straightforward and easy to understand. I save a huge amount using DigitalOcean versus previous solutions.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The biggest challenge is probably the onboarding and learning to get set up. That said, the number of resources and learning documents provided by Digital Ocean is unbeatable. If you don't know how to set something up, there's little doubt that you can found out, with a detailed walkthrough document.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides affordable, fully customizable web hosting that is leagues ahead of the out-of-the-box solutions provided by companies like HostGator or BlueHost.

 ### 13. Simple, Secure, Versatile and Value for money.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikhil S. | Chief Operating Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

It's simple to use, secure and has services and products that are prefect for my use case. I like their knowledge base too. I like how simple it is to track the performance of my droplets. And I really like the pricing too. I was easily able to setup and get running.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

This isn't a comment about DO as much as about the category: for a newcomer it can be overwhelming to see all the services. Naming conventions, terms, can be simplified to ease the entry process. This goes away as one gets comfortable with the space.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a couple of apps that will become SaaS businesses and getting my MVP and beta up has never been easier. I've always been quasi-technical, but took on a fully technical role and working with DO has been super awesome in that regard.

 ### 14. Digital Ocean: Easy to use and Developer friendly Cloud

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digital ocean is very easy to implement, and developer friendly paltform. The pricing is startghtforward and affordable as well. The platform makes it easy to deploy servers, databases and apps without complex configuration. CLI and API featue is very handy for integration and documentation is vast and almost covers everything you need. The predictable and flat-rate pricing is what I enjoyed a lot.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Its limited GPU offerings and lack of support for AI/ML heavy workflows is something I miss on Digital ocean.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Certain cloud platforms are complex and I have to spend rediculous amount of time just to figure out the internals and services. But Digital ocean is very simple to use and highly dev friendly platform. So, without worrying about complex UI and configs, I can just focus on deploying instances, databases and scalability.

Though Digital ocean is not GPU and AI/ML heavy, its became a easy to implement cloud platform for various use cases.

 ### 15. Straightforward, Reliable, but Costs Can Add Up

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriel P. | Computer Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

I really appreciate how easy it is to use the Ubuntu virtual machines. The setup is quick and straightforward, making it very convenient to get a server up and running. DigitalOcean provides a simple and intuitive interface, reliable performance, and good documentation. It's very beginner-friendly while still offering powerful features, which makes deploying and managing applications efficient and accessible.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The pricing can be relatively expensive for countries like Brazil, and it becomes even more costly when the application needs to scale and handle a high amount of traffic.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have an application for my wife's consulting company that requires using the ODK Central with Enketo. Installing it on DigitalOcean made my work much easier. In comparison, my attempts to set it up on Google Cloud were unsatisfactory and much more complicated.

 ### 16. Solid Performance and Pricing, but Support Needs Improvement

I use DigitalOcean for deploying application and database servers. I like the ability to quickly start and run different server configurations across the world. I appreciate the good server options DigitalOcean provides, like RAM and CPU optimized instances, which I can use depending on the task. This variety in server options is quite valuable to me because I can choose between them based on the applications I run, like adding more memory if an app consumes a lot of RAM.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Maybe update server prices more often as RAM and CPU become cheaper, but it is not critical.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I deploy application and database servers with DigitalOcean, which allows me to quickly start and run different server configurations globally. I like the good variety of server options, like RAM and CPU optimized instances, which I choose based on application needs.

 ### 18. Simple and Powerful Cloud Infrastructure

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gunther C. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean's offerings are affordable and they offer a wide variety of resources that are easy to configure and use. Their virtual machines (Droplets) typically only take a few minutes to configure before they are ready to use. Their managed load balancer offering works seamlessly with the droplets and has straight forward security rule controls.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I think there are very few downsides to DigitalOcean

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean allows me to create and manage web services, and host various web applications. Creating a number of small virtual machines can someone be expensive depending on the hosting service but DigitalOcean's pricing is very affordable. I've also found their managed database offering and load balancer useful, these services tend to have better pricing per resource tier than building one from scratch and each of these has been very easy to create and manage.

 ### 19. Good Value for Money, Easy Installation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mouctar D. | Co-Founder & Full Stack Engineer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I really appreciate DigitalOcean's App Platform and Spaces. These features prove valuable for deploying client projects within my development agency. I find that DigitalOcean offers a very interesting value for money compared to other cloud competitors. The initial setup of DigitalOcean is quite easy, which is a notable advantage for getting started quickly. Overall, these aspects make our gradual transition from AWS to DigitalOcean supported and justified.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Databases on DigitalOcean are considered somewhat expensive, especially for small projects. For example, the Postgres database at 15 dollars is seen as a significant expense, to the point that it seems more cost-effective to create your own Docker image to use it.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use DigitalOcean for deploying client projects, finding its app platform and spaces more interesting in terms of value for money compared to other cloud competitors.

 ### 22. Affordable & Efficient for Small Websites

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manny H.

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I have been using DigitalOcean for about six months for my personal website, and the experience has been quite positive. I appreciate that DigitalOcean offers a more affordable pricing structure compared to Amazon AWS, especially since AWS has a pricing model that can be quite variable. With DigitalOcean, I have a clear idea of my monthly expenses, which helps me manage my budget effectively. The setup process for DigitalOcean was quite straightforward, similar to AWS, but what stood out was the abundance of tutorials available. These tutorials are incredibly helpful, guiding me through almost every aspect and simplifying the setup process significantly. I also value the droplet feature; despite facing some initial problems with specific template droplets, opting for a regular, non-templated droplet worked perfectly for my needs. The pricing is another major attraction for me, as it provides a cost-effective solution for a small droplet with the right amount of RAM and requirements necessary for a small website. Overall, these aspects make DigitalOcean a favorable choice for my hosting needs.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I find the storage services offered by DigitalOcean not very competitive compared to Amazon's S3. If I had to choose a storage solution, I'd consider going back to Amazon for that purpose.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use DigitalOcean as it provides a reliable service with predictable monthly pricing, which suits my personal website's needs cost-effectively.

 ### 23. Simple when you want to be, but capable when you need it to be.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

What I like most about DigitalOcean is the ease of use! Sure, I understand how AWS and GCP works, but those environments can quickly become intimidatingly complex, even for simple things. DigitalOcean strips away that complexity that really helps someone like me, who just wants to focus their energy on their app, not complex infra decisions. That's DO's value for me.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I have yet to find anything problematic about DigitalOcean's service. There's little nitpicks, maybe, but I have no serious dislikes to mention.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At this point in my little micro SaaS project, I really only need one web server instance, and one managed database instance. Things are growing quicker than I expected though, so I may soon need things like a centralized redis droplet, and even maybe an additional droplet to pick up redis queue jobs and process them (so that the main web server processes are not being used to do that work). And sure yeah, I could've set these up these resources AWS I guess, but Laravel Forge's integration with DigitalOcean is so painless and slick, that I went with DO as an experiment, but now have become a total convert.

 ### 24. Affordable and Easy Infrastructure Management

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David G. | Professor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I appreciate how DigitalOcean significantly cuts costs compared to other providers, making it a highly attractive option for my budget. This affordability is beneficial as it helps me save money while still fulfilling my hosting needs efficiently. Although I don’t consider myself a power user, I find the platform intuitive enough that I believe I can easily set up new machines if needed. Managing existing infrastructure feels straightforward as well. Moreover, using DigitalOcean to host my website has been a cost-effective solution, aligning perfectly with my financial needs.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I find the initial setup somewhat challenging, requiring an external article to guide me through it as the support or instructions from DigitalOcean were not readily apparent or sufficient for my needs. Additionally, I am frustrated by the frequent reminders about payments. They make me overly aware of the monthly fee, which becomes annoying since I don't need multiple reminders for this. I've mentioned this concern to DigitalOcean before, but there hasn't been any change, which suggests they are not listening to customer feedback effectively.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean provides a cost-effective solution for hosting my website, saving me money compared to other providers.

 ### 25. Flexible, User-Friendly with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tyler N.

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I appreciate how flexible and customizable DigitalOcean is, allowing me to easily transition from other platforms like Python Anywhere. The ease of setup and management, particularly for Linux boxes, has been a significant advantage, enabling me to solve my hosting needs and empowering me to create more web applications. The dashboard is another standout feature that enhances my user experience, making management straightforward and intuitive. I also find the backups extremely useful, providing peace of mind. The support materials, including tutorials available online, have been helpful, and AI tools have made navigating them even easier and more enjoyable. Working with simple yet effective terminal commands and the integration with SSH, Git, GitHub, and Docker enhances my workflow seamlessly. The company's overall vibe is fantastic, with a simple and elegant interface that promotes fun and learning, ticking all the right boxes for me.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I feel restricted by the inability to downsize a droplet once the disk size has been increased. Even though I understand there are technical reasons for this limitation, it can be frustrating when you upsize for a particular need and realize later that it was unnecessary. This leaves you feeling stuck because you cannot revert to a smaller size. This constraint seems to go against the flexible and empowering vibe that DigitalOcean aims to provide.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean streamlines server setup and management, empowering me to create web apps and scale activities easily. Its ease of use, customizable Linux boxes, and supportive dashboard and backups have significantly improved my workflow and enhanced server management capabilities.

The performance of the droplets is remarkable, with impressive speed and accuracy, which aligns perfectly with my needs. Moreover, DigitalOcean's security features bolster my confidence in the platform. Ultimately, the ability to collaborate seamlessly on projects with my programmer friend, using integration tools like GitHub, is a significant benefit, maintaining efficiency and connectivity across locations.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

There isn't anything for me to say about DigitalOcean.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean simplifies collaboration with my programmer, effortlessly setting up and managing our project with GitHub integration. Its intuitive interface and resources empower me, a non-coder, to contribute effectively and work independently. The ease of use and good pricing, alongside reliable features, enhance my workflow.

 ### 27. Reliability and Simplicity at a Good Price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leonardo A.

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I have been using DigitalOcean for over eight years and I love the simplicity and clarity of their pricing structure compared to more complex services like Amazon and Google. I chose DigitalOcean for its good price and for offering straightforward services without additional technical complications. I greatly value the ability to scale in space and CPU with the droplets, as well as having full control over tools and connections like SSH, MySQL, and git. This gives me the freedom to efficiently manage software maintenance and the deployment of my web app. I also appreciate the reliability of the service, with uptime that surpasses the providers I previously worked with. I can manage my droplets and create new ones or discard them when I need to, which provides great flexibility. DigitalOcean is a service I highly recommend for its uptime, competitive pricing, and the reliability it offers; I always recommend it to my clients.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The control of the access ports to the droplet. Until the last time I needed to make a change, it is necessary to ask support for it, you cannot do it yourself as a client. That takes away independence.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use DigitalOcean to host my web app, valuing its affordable price and easy setup. It allows me to manage and scale resources easily, maintaining full control over the tools used and ensuring high reliability with excellent uptime.

DigitalOcean offers a stable and predictable infrastructure, ideal for those working with professional applications and needing full control of the environment. Creating droplets is simple and fast, and the server performance is consistent even under production loads. The integration via API and the dashboard are straightforward, allowing for the automation of routines such as deployments, backups, and monitoring. The cost-benefit is excellent for medium-sized projects and for developers who value technical autonomy without the complexity of larger providers.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The absence of native support via real-time chat can delay the resolution of critical incidents, especially outside of business hours. It would also be interesting to see improvements in the transactional email panel and more detailed network metrics directly on the dashboard, without relying on external integrations.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean allows me to host and manage professional applications with full control and cost predictability. I use the infrastructure to run automation systems in Python, data analysis bots for Google Analytics 4, and custom APIs for clients. **What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I absolutely love the simplicity that DigitalOcean offers. The setup process is super simple, making it the easiest experience I've ever had with hosting. The available templates are awesome, adding significant value right from the start. I appreciate how straightforward it is to handle storage, with the ability to easily add on storage that simplifies hosting immensely. Moreover, the process is so straightforward that I barely need any documentation. Another fantastic aspect is the straightforward upgrading and scaling. In terms of software integration, I find it efficient with typical software options like Ubuntu and Apache readily available. Overall, DigitalOcean simplifies complex processes, making my work both efficient and satisfying.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I would like to see improvement with the process of adding on volumes with DigitalOcean. It requires some coding and manual configuration to make changes and recognize the new volume, which adds complexity. I wish there was a more seamless process where adding a volume would simply expand my space without needing extra steps to configure and refer to the new volume. Additionally, I would appreciate it if DigitalOcean was a bit cheaper.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean simplifies storage and hosting, offering easy setup and management with minimal documentation required.

 ### 32. Effortless Power and Simplicity, But Could Use More Built-In Safeguards

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

What i like best about digital ocean is how it manages to stay powerful without ever feeling complicated. most cloud providers feel like you are borrowing a spaceship just to deploy a small app, but digital ocean feels more like driving a well built car fast, predictable and completely in your control.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

what i dislike about digital ocean is not the product itself it is that it is almost too lean at times.the simplicity that makes it so refreshing can also leave you wishing for a few more builtin safety nets. for instance, when you are managing multiple environments or scaling quickly, the lack of deeper automation or native cost insights can make you feel like you are flying manual in heavy clouds

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Digital ocean solves the gap between cloud complexity and developer focus. it takes away the noise that usually comes with managing infrastructure endless configuration layer, billing surprise and vendor locks ins and replaces it with a platform that just works the way you expect it to.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rajnish K. | Salesforce Associate Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I really like how straightforward DigitalOcean is. Setting up a Droplet (their virtual server) takes just a few clicks, and the interface is clean enough that I never feel lost. The pricing is transparent-no hidden costs-and starts low enough to fit small projects or startups. Another plus is their huge library of community tutorials and guides, which makes solving issues a lot easier.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Sometimes the support response time can be slow, especially during busy periods. I’ve also learned to keep extra backups, as I once had a managed database update cause some data loss. And while it’s perfect for simple to medium-scale projects, it lacks some of the advanced features you’d get from bigger cloud providers.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean makes it easy to host and manage applications without needing a full DevOps team. I can spin up servers quickly, scale them when traffic grows, and manage everything from one simple dashboard. The predictable pricing helps with budgeting, and the built-in tools like managed databases and backups save me from doing extra setup work. It’s especially helpful for launching projects fast without getting stuck in overly complex cloud configurations.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well DigitalOcean as solved a pricing problem which most of the platforms fail to implement in their platform like hidden fees, but DigitalOcean has shown how pricing should be before customers even engage with the platform

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Some features are still in their nascent stage and need further development. As users, we often find that these are the most common use cases, so it is disappointing when they are not fully supported.

Fewer enterprise services: Compared to AWS or Azure, it has fewer specialized services. But honestly, this is also part of its minimalist charm.

Limited support in basic plans: Premium technical support requires more expensive plans, although the documentation makes up for this a lot.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Reduce unnecessary complexity of the Cloud infrastructure
2. Helps me control unpredictable costs and surprise bills
3. Reduces excessive setup and deployment times
4. Reduces high technical barriers

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Good tools, pricing is just average. We use VPSs and managed databases for Wordpress websites and MERN saas applications.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Support is bad. Impossible to reach anyone. Hit our "droplet limit" and it took 24 hours for someone to respond. Sent a calendar link to talk about it next week, nothing sooner available. Hardware is also aging and not really updated.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use DigitalOcean for VPSs running wordpress websites as well as our MERN saas applications.

 ### 43. Perfect Fit for Small Teams: Reliable, Easy, and Cost-Effective Cloud Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean has been a great fit for my MERN CRM.

Predictable pricing, quick Droplet spin-ups, and clear docs made deployment simple. I run Node services on Droplets behind a load balancer, store files in Spaces, and use Managed Databases for MongoDB. Performance is solid, scaling up or down takes minutes, and snapshots/backups are painless. The VPC setup keeps internal traffic private, monitoring and alerts are straightforward, and their control panel is fast. Support has been responsive the few times I needed it. For a small team shipping a CRM, it hits the sweet spot of cost, reliability, and ease of use.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I don't think there are downsides to using DigitalOcean. I avoided the AWS outage and I'm happy I chose DO.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting, snapshots, rollbacks and CI/CD as well as storage, It is really nice to have access to all of these from one dashboard in an easy to use UI without the hassle of on prem. I am 100% fully remote and not located near my company, so this makes my life easy.

 ### 44. Simple, Reliable, and Developer-Friendly Cloud Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean stands out for its simplicity, reliability, and developer-friendly environment. The UI is clean and intuitive, making it easy to deploy and manage droplets even for those who aren’t full-time sysadmins.

Their documentation is top-tier—comprehensive, well-organized, and beginner-friendly, which really speeds up troubleshooting and learning. Pricing is transparent and affordable, especially for small businesses and startups looking to scale gradually.

I also appreciate their growing ecosystem of products like Spaces, Managed Databases, and Kubernetes support.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

There’s not much to dislike, but if I had to point something out, it would be that some advanced features and monitoring tools are more limited compared to larger cloud providers like AWS or GCP. While that keeps things simpler, power users might miss certain enterprise-grade options or integrations. That said, for the vast majority of use cases, DigitalOcean more than delivers.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean solves the challenge of deploying and managing cloud infrastructure without the complexity and steep learning curve of larger cloud providers. It offers a streamlined, intuitive platform that allows developers to launch and scale applications quickly without getting bogged down in overly complicated configuration.

For me, this has translated into faster development cycles, reduced infrastructure overhead, and more predictable costs. Their one-click apps, managed databases, and scalable droplets make it easy to focus on building products rather than managing servers. It’s especially beneficial for startups or solo developers who need powerful cloud tools without enterprise-level complexity.

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Ease of use and simplicity of user experience. I want infrastructure to host my application and I can log in, spin up a droplet, and start working very easily. I am comparing to using the AWS console which is overwhelming.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I ran into a problem with SMTP ports being blocked by default which is understandable but it was not clear until I researched it. I bypassed it by using AWS SES api, but it took some figuring out.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simple VPS (droplet) hosting for my software as a service application. I need secure, high uptime infrastructure and DO solves that.

 ### 50. Very good selection of services. 99.99% Uptime.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean has very good selection of services. You can create VPS server of all sizes and quantities. For instance, you can create a vps host (with 1cpu and 10gb hard disk) for as little as $4 per month. It can go all the way up to $1630/mo with 60 CPUs.

You can create GPU droplets as well.

Other think is about almost 100% uptime. Initially there some speed issues over the past. It could kick in once or twice in a month. But I think DigitalOcean has worked on this. I created an uptime monitoring service (which also is from DigitalOcean). It says, last outage was around 175 days ago. That is very nice.

It's website is neatly structured. Great ease of use.

Customer support is also very good. Very responsive. I am using the free plan. In this plan, they reply you within 24 hours. Every time I opened a ticket, they would promptly answer it.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I dislike a couple of things about DigitalOcean. Centos 10 was released on December 12, 2024. But it is not available yet in DigitalOcean as of today (7th May). Other providers like Vultr has it already. The selection of linux distributions is also limited. Compared to Vultr, DigitalOcean does not have that much choice of linux distributions.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean provides almost 100% of Uptime. That is very convenient.

**Official Response from Faiza Zia:**

> Hi Azeem,

We really appreciate your detailed review. We're thrilled you love our service selection, near 100% uptime, and responsive customer support, even on the free plan. We're constantly working to improve our offerings and appreciate your feedback on the availability of newer Linux distributions like CentOS 10. Thanks for highlighting how we're solving your need for reliable uptime.

Thanks for being part of the DigitalOcean community!

Best,
DigitalOcean
