## Datacoves Reviews
  ### 1. Datacoves Simplifies Our Data Stack with a Smooth, Customizable Dev Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sung Hoon J. | Lead Data Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

Datacoves has made managing our data stack way easier. It brings dbt, Airflow, and a VS Code like environment together, so we don't have to deal with a bunch of separate tools or infrastructure.

It's also highly customizable, we recently added the Codex extension seamlessly

The developer experience is really solid, and getting started was pretty smooth. Their support team is also super responsive and helpful, which makes a big difference.

If you're looking to simplify your data workflows without managing everything yourself, it's definitely worth it.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

There's not much to dislike, The local Airflow environment ("My Airflow") is helpful for testing during development, but it still has some limitations. For example, triggering DAGs based on dataset events especially when those events need to come from external systems is not fully supported, which makes certain testing scenarios more difficult.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datacoves allows us to focus on delivering data products and business values. plus, olving all infrastructure needs

  ### 2. Efficient Onboarding with Stellar Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bennie R. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

I really like that working in Datacoves feels very familiar if you're used to VSCode. It makes dbt development very easy, and I appreciate the Airflow integration, which is nice. A major highlight is their support team, who are always quick to reply to issues, questions, and feature requests. Their documentation is very helpful for setting up different jobs or dbt configs. The initial setup was very straightforward, supported by detailed guides and quick assistance from the Datacoves team.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

The Airflow portion of the setup has been our biggest pain point. We've run into issues with the development area (called 'My Airflow') running out of memory, and the fact that it runs on a different executor than the production version (local file system vs Kubernetes) makes testing certain interactions a bit difficult.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datacoves allows us to quickly onboard new developers and manage our data ingestion, transformation, and exports.

  ### 3. Simplified Our Data Stack and Gained Full Control — Without the Infrastructure Burden

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

Before Datacoves, we were juggling multiple tools to manage dbt and orchestration — some hosted, some open source — and it created unnecessary complexity, especially as our team scaled and adopted multiple dbt projects. We knew we wanted the flexibility of dbt Core and Airflow, but building and maintaining that ourselves was complex.
Datacoves helped us streamline everything. They provided guidance on how to simplify our project structure, consolidate projects, and set up best practices that would’ve taken us longer to figure out on our own.
Now, every developer on our team has a consistent, ready-to-go workspace with dbt, Python, Git, and Airflow — all accessible through a browser-based VS Code. No local setup struggles, no flaky, and no confusion about where things run.
Their shared and user specific Airflow instances have been especially valuable. With separate dev and team environments, integrated Git syncing, and managed secrets, we’ve gained reliability without giving up flexibility.
Datacoves gave us the best of open source, with none of the overhead. And their team is genuinely helpful, they feel like an extension of our own.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

A bit of upfront planning needed to fully take advantage of the flexibility

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't have a reliable internal team to host our tools and Datacoves has become an extension of our data engineering team to help with DevOps/DataOps.

  ### 4. Good integration framework of modern stack

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Otavio R. | Tech Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

Their customer support is really open to improvements. I was contacted and I was able to discuss about the Grafana Dashboards that might be available in future releases.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

Sometimes some lack of dashboards like a Grafana integration to monitor activity would be useful to avoid over heading the customer support team in case of failures. It would be easier to control if we had a vision of how the Service is running and investigate bottlenecks or attention points. One case we have is when we, as a developer team, overload the Postgres running as background of Airflow. We do not have a clue when it will happen.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It surprisingly created a clear and standardized way of deploying data products in the company I work.

  ### 5. Reliable platform with excellent support and expert guidance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sergey P. | IT Lead DataOps Data Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

Datacoves added copilot and model lineage right in vs code

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

Provide more options to manage ingestion

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datacoves eliminates the need to build and maintain complex infrastructure for dbt/airflow/airbyte. It provides ready-to-use environment.

  ### 6. Customizable, but easy to get started

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

The datacoves product threads a really tight window of providing a solution which is relatively easy to get set up (versus implementing these components yourself) while still offering the flexibility to customize and layer your own technical architecture on top of their dbt/airflow/airbyte implementations. The team has been very responsive and supportive on assisting us in the implementation process.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

The trade-off of allowing for customization is that certain aspects which are "click button" in competing tool sets (ie. CI/CD for dbt) need to be implemented through your own tooling. Although it is really a benefit because you have tighter control over the processes, it does take some time to get everything implemented.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datacoves has created an easy way to become a 1-stop location for our analytics and data engineering developers. The tie-in between the different dbt development processes and airflow environments helps us in accelerating our development timelines, while still allowing us to customize.

  ### 7. Comprehensive Analytics Platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

Datacoves has accelerated our adoption of the modern data stack by providing a one stop shop of the most commonly used tools leveraged across the data and analytics industry.

The Datacoves team has been exceptional in the onboarding, consultation on best practices, customization, and providing troubleshooting assistance to our data engineering community for such a large scale adoption.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

The complexity of integrations and introduction of a suite of tools which are new to the organization can cause delays in wider adoption.

Organizations need to ensure the engineering skillset is ready to adopt the technology stack provided by Datacoves and fully understand the capabilities and best practices to realize the maximum value that can derived from the platform.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datacoves has accelerated our adoption of a more modern data stack by providing a suite of open source tools through a single UI. That has eased the burden of our platform teams of having to develop the integration of these tools independently of each other.

  ### 8. All-In-One Data Stack in the Cloud

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nate S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

Datacoves packages together all the tools needed to support data teams of all sizes. This isn't easy to do! If you don't use Datacoves, your options are to buy a disparate set of cloud based solutions, or hire engineering talent who can install it all on prem. Datacoves rises above both these options giving you both the advantages of the cloud and the best of open source.

The Datacoves team is immensely helpful getting everything off the ground in a fraction of the time it took me to install all this software on-prem on a prior project.

Hard to overstate how quickly Datacoves solved my infrastructure needs so I could focus on delivering business value.

Datacoves is also extremely responsive to customer questions, something you don't normally get when leveraging open source software. That's a huge hidden advantage to using their implementation of OSS instead of forging your own path.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

Maintaining andupdating OSS tools is finnicky and can lead to extra cycles of development time getting software updated. Datacoves does an excellent job walking you through the changes, but if you haven't coded much at all before or are not comfortable with open source packages or GitHub, you will have a bit of a learning curve to overcome.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Put simply, Datacoves solves the infrastructure problem. All the tools you need to run data at your organization with world-class software are there and ready to go.

The primary benefit is moving quickly from infrastructure building to delivering business value. Which is exactly what your stakeholders need. They don't want 9 months spent building data infrastructure, they need insights yesterday. And Datacoves helps you do just that.

  ### 9. A valued partnership

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin R. | Manager, Software Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

Some of the best things about working with Datacoves is they completely got what we were trying to achieve from our data solutions. For us, it was to solve the hard problem, of implementing a robust CICD solution for data warehousing and data pipelines. They had a a ready made solution (for us packaging airflow and dbt) with a nice code interface, that we could use to develop our pipelines and deploy them easily. This also allowed us to scale up a sizable team quite quickly and without the usual worries. I must say the technical expertise, quick support and response, along with some useful pointers have been invaluable to our project and it's continued success.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

There's not much to dislike, we had a predifined set of requirements and we are largely meeting those objectives on our project.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datacoves is helping us solve how we can build test and deploy using well established CICD techniques our data pipelines. We are very much data engineers on our team, and to build up this approach was outside our primary skillsets. It has shortened the time to build and deploy, and enabled us to focus on building good data models

  ### 10. A Thoughtful Data Engineering Process as a Product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eugene K. | Data Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2023

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

The hardest problem in any company is the development of sound business processes that help get work done while providing guiderails to keep the process organized and well-managed. Smaller teams often do not have the capacity to develop these processes, and pay the tech debt later with interest. Datacoves distinguishes themselves from dbt by providing not just a tool, but a well-developed process for data engineering following the more established software industry best practices, with thoughtful tools to help guide developers without hindering them from their work. Working with Datacoves is like having a well-oiled data engineering team at my fingertips, being able to punch way above your weight.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

Datacoves provides an opinionated process that fits a vast amount of use-cases but not all. We had some cases that did not fit their built-in toolchain but thanks to the flexible nature of Airflow and Python and some help from Datacoves, we were able to custom-create new processes to fit our needs.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datacoves is solving the problem of building a data pipeline with well-established CI/CD processes that help manage your code base for the long run. Without Datacoves, we would have forgone a lot of these processes due to lack of time and expertise. We had already had to deal with that tech debt in our legacy SQL Server platform, and it was not an experience we wanted to deal with ever again.

  ### 11. The ELT Stack All In One App!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liam E. | Account Executive, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

Datacoves has simplified my organization's ELT process by providing some of the best in breed data engineering and orchestration tools in one unified application. I look forward to logging into Datacoves every day which I can't say about some of my other business applications. The support is also fantastic. Noel and the team are incredibly knowledgeable about the data engineering ecosystem. I always learn someeting new from our conversations.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

I don't have any qualms with Datacoves. I could see some being frsutrated with being locked into the tools you're using for ELT, but for us specifically those tools are the perfect fit.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datacoves helps us with the entire ETL stack. It hosts tools that allow us to pipe data from the 3rd party business applications we use into our data warehouse, and then transform that data into clean tables for our business users.

  ### 12. Very Nice End to End System

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Craig L. | Operating Partner - IT & Data, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

Datacoves brings a very well-thought-out devlopment to deployment system. Previously we were using a somewhat standard structure as recommended by DBT. I like the Datacoves methodology far better. The project structure and workflow you inherit by working with them saves a ton of work.

Having the full data pipeline hosted in a single location is fantastic as well. Overall, I highly recommend their system.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

I can't identify any specific downsides. The support has been excellent. We've run into a few issues, but they were fixed almost immediately.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Datacoves for our full data pipeline stack (Airflow, Airbyte, DBT), and we will be implementing Superset on their hosting shortly.

  ### 13. Datacoves Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

It provide data security and compliance. It provides stable environment for data storage and it has easily scalable does ability to disaster recovery.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

Is not cost effective, it can be complex because of integration of multiple tools.
The provisional setup takes much time.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provides a good security to data. As far as security is concern for data, it's a good tool.
It provides a good space for data management and organising it. It improves organisational efficiency and scalable infrastructure.

  ### 14. Enabling modern DataOps

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denny V. | IT Sr Manager, Data Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

Datacoves helps bring all the processes and expertise from the software development world to the data world. This allows our distributed team of data engineers to work together more effectively, we're already using it on a daily basis. This new way of working is resulting directly into better quality data for our users. Datacoves does not just offer a platform, but helps teams adopt new ways of working by understanding the current state and helping to reach the desired outcomes by integrating with existing enterprise systems.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

Some assumptions are being made about your environment in an out-of-the-box installation, which may not always match the actual environment. However any issue we encountered was promptly addressed by the Datacoves team.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping us build better data products by providing tooling and processes for groups of data engineers to work together efficiently.

  ### 15. All the things you need wrapped up nicely

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

For me datacoves embodies the idea of what the modern data stack is and encompases it on a single solution. At its core it takes the best open source projects that fire up what the modern data stack is and connects them together so you don't have too. I use datacoves almost daily and it really streamlines the work for analyst and developers alike.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

It does require more of a tech mindset that some might shy away from. But in the end the more tech savvy you are the better you are off for a solution in my opinion. There are a lot of fallacies and cracks on the drag and drop model plus vendor lock in.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataOps and Data Observability.

  ### 16. Thought leadership on data engineering

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tobias T. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

it drives the right mentality and approach to best practice data engineering

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

It's a niche solution that has a big fight on its hands to keep up with the developments around DBT and the larger ecosystem

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our data engineering maturity and practices were very out of date and inefficient. Datacoves allowed us to switch to more modern technology stack but most of all adopt a different mindset and approach to building and maintaining data pipelines and working with data as an asset.

  ### 17. Modern Data Engineering Platform Made Right

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Datacoves?**

It represents a thoughtful approach to the Data Engineering world which might require the users to change mindset.
The result is an organic stack that works well together whilst remaining flexible enough to integrate with different architectures.

**What do you dislike about Datacoves?**

There's very little to dislike, like all platforms it has its quirks and peculiarities.
Datacoves support has always been helpful and prompt to solve any issue we might encounter.

**What problems is Datacoves solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataOps/DataEngineering Stack fragmentation.
