Another one is the support of people in conducting training for new features, guiding and solving when problems are arising. **What do you dislike about CYPHER Learning?** Not that dislike, however when it comes to Team assignment it should be per task and only one submission per team and grade. Some tasks have different members however when you change the members, the other done task is also affected. Then for the submission, even if one of the members already submitted the other members still with a flag that they not yet submitting even is a team. So individually will submit even the same output. **What problems is CYPHER Learning solving and how is that benefiting you?** One problem I encountered is when students took the quiz, the system didn't capture their submissions, I post in the forum and the technical support answer. Integration with other software would be more usefully Some issues embedding videos, but the support forum is a big help with this. For those seeking high levels of accessibility functionality, Matrix LMS is a good solution with the need to be careful as with any tech as to what content is loaded/designed to support accessibility. **What problems is CYPHER Learning solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use this training portal in my day-to-day work for an insurance broker that has to have over 2,000 sales staff fully trained. The portal allows me to easily create organizations, classes, lessons, modules, and students and combine them all to create structured learning that is easy to track, easy to report on and all for an affordable monthly cost. The support forum is a great place to raise any issues and there's always someone available to answer any questions I have. It's not perfect and is still improving each month, but it allows me to do my job more efficiently and does a lot of heavy lifting that I would otherwise have to do with spreadsheets and time that I don't have. 1) Training aids will get you started but you have to spend a great deal of time, and trial and error in learning to manage your LMS, build courses, etc. 2) I lost some completion data records where there should of been a hard stop warning that this could happen before I made the change. 3) There is no weekend tech support which I would likely use only occasionally. 4) I can't configure slides to move horizontally in a single slide click-through fashion. Some admin features such as the grade book and assessments have options and customization features to allow the kind of classroom you would want to set based on your vision. Accessing the inventory/list of all users makes it easy to track the progress and performance of current and previous students. As it stores not only your current subjects but even archived ones that could be accessed. Gamification has enhanced the experience of making learning better. At the same time, the breadth of what you can do on NEO is good as well - uploading multiple file types, creating different kinds of responses, and even producing your assessments can have its variations. The options that are provided by NEO when creating content for students are helpful, though, can be meticulous. The fact that those options exist is what makes NEO a little more resourceful than others. **What do you dislike about CYPHER Learning?** The organization and UI of NEO needs work. Though the layout is not too complex to figure out, it is not intuitive in some senses. Some elements of the website are unusual and unnecessary. However, at the *core* of the LMS, it has what I need as a teacher. As noted from my "likes" about NEO, it does have many features that are helpful, however, they do need to refresh the UI so it isn't as much of a pain to identify or find. For example, on a weekly basis, I had to uncheck "random order" for questions - I ordered my questions on purpose and, unfortunately, I did forget to check the box off some days. But a big offender was when some links I inputted would, for some reason, unlink themselves or link back to a previous hyperlink from another lesson. **Recommendations to others considering CYPHER Learning:** There are tons of features - but I would suggest that new users gradually use newer elements. **What problems is CYPHER Learning solving and how is that benefiting you?** One issue that I was concerned about when moving to an online system was having students turn in homework. At first, turning in assignments was daunting, however, after some routine, students got used to the UI and found their way around the website. Matrix is great for automating our enrollment and delivery. **What do you dislike about CYPHER Learning?** My biggest complaint is that we don't use it to delivery traditional courses - all our learners are self-paced and make their own choices along the way. But with Matrix, I can get something out there and then really up the wow factor when the course development catches up. Plus, I can get a sense early on as to whether the course layout and structure is working before devoting time and expense to more complicated components. **What do you dislike about CYPHER Learning?** There are a lot of customizations that don't add value for me. There are too many settings and checkboxes that clutter the interface when I'm trying to get a course set up. I've got it figured out now, but there were too many instances when I had to contact support for something that should've been more intuitive. Course publishing is one - If I publish to the catalog, I have to remember to remove the "contact me" checkbox. That's not spelled out anywhere. There are other instances that are the same, and it's made more difficult because I can't open the help guide in another window and follow along while trying to perform the action. **Recommendations to others considering CYPHER Learning:** It might take a little longer to get used to than some other LMS options, but the available features make it worth it. We're currently migrating away from Matrix because the list of frustrations has continued to grow longer and longer and nobody at the company cares. **What do you dislike about CYPHER Learning?** Customer support Management/Executive team Price doubling since we've been onboard Outdated UI Our students find platform not user friendly Lots and lots of bugs - they try to add so many features that they cannot stay on top of resolving the bugs. And more... Overall Matrix is a feature-focused LMS. All they care about is having the most extensive list of features - more than any other LMS. If they've done this then they've succeeded as having the best LMS in their minds. Unfortunately this drive for only features leaves the clients feedback and requirements unheard. This has resulted in many frustrations with their platform from having to work inside of constraints and quirks that they refuse to acknowledge or address. Additionally, they pretend to be such a large organization with 12 offices all over the world. However upon searching these addresses appear to be nothing more than virtual offices and in our 3 years of working with them it is always the same 5-8 people who handle all requests from sales, to product development, apps and customizations. Many times communication with these individuals is completely ignored and not responded to from their end. Also, upon using tools like BuiltWith.com and looking at which apps on the iOS and Google Play store are actually using their platform and mobile apps there are very few companies that can actually be found that are utilizing it. Are they pretending to be larger than what they actually are? You invest all the time needing to learn the complexities of their platform and build out your program only to find once you have everything built out they raise the price again and again. So you are locked in paying increasingly higher prices. We're honestly fed up with the way they do business and are investing heavily in building our own platform which we will be migrating to soon. **Recommendations to others considering CYPHER Learning:** If you're simply coming to Matrix for its list of features there are other powerful enterprise level LMS's out there. Or a very comprehensive, low cost LMS is LearnDash. It can be built out with many of the same features and honestly can be much more powerful in a lot of ways. Has some nice customizations and intigrations. They do seem to release features somewhat frequintly (its how they justify the price increases) **What do you dislike about CYPHER Learning?** The GUI is dated. Support is only handled through their forum. Reporting is a nightmare. The API could be way more useful. The Common Cartridge format they choose is not all that common, despite them saying it's an "industry standard." The UX is clunky and not really intuitive at all. The course creator tool leaves a lot to be desired. Price has more than doubled since we signed on. Their documentation needs improvement and needs to be more easily accessible, like a dedicated page, not some popup inside the service... Their XAPI features are lackluster and difficult to implement.
