## About ControlMonkey
ControlMonkey is an IaC Automation and Cyber Resilience platform that helps cloud teams govern, automate, and recover infrastructure at scale. ControlMonkey enables platform and DevOps teams to gain full control over their cloud environments by discovering existing infrastructure, bringing unmanaged resources into Terraform and OpenTofu, automating infrastructure delivery, detecting and remediating drift, and continuously protecting cloud and SaaS configurations with recoverable snapshots. Unlike tools that focus only on Terraform execution, ControlMonkey gives teams visibility into what is actually running in production, including resources created manually, changed outside of code, or managed across different systems. The platform helps organizations reduce ClickOps, enforce governance, automate infrastructure workflows, and restore critical configuration quickly after misconfigurations, outages, ransomware, or malicious changes. ControlMonkey’s suite of solutions includes: 🔸 IaC Automation 🔸 Terraform and OpenTofu Operations 🔸 Shift to Terraform 🔸 Infrastructure CI/CD 🔸 Cloud Visibility and Drift Detection 🔸 Automated Drift Remediation 🔸 Governance and Compliance 🔸 Cloud Disaster Recovery for Infrastructure Configuration 🔸 SaaS and Cloud Configuration Backups 🔸 Self-Service Infrastructure With ControlMonkey, cloud teams move faster, stay compliant, reduce operational risk, and build resilient production environments that can be governed, automated, and recovered with confidence.

## ControlMonkey Reviews
 ### 1. ControlMonkey delivers full control and visibility across our cloud IaC

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Noam A. | Director of DevOps, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about ControlMonkey?**

ControlMonkey gives us significantly better visibility and control over our cloud environments.

Our DevOps team supports multiple internal teams, each with different infrastructure needs. We operate mainly on AWS, and most of our infrastructure is managed through Terraform, Terragrunt, OpenTofu, and Crossplane.

Before ControlMonkey, managing everything was more challenging. We had several Terraform codebases, different Terraform versions, and a mix of pipeline-based and manual deployments. It wasn’t always clear what had changed, where drift existed, or whether our environments were fully aligned with our IaC.

After onboarding our environments to ControlMonkey, we gained much better control. The drift alerts helped us catch changes we didn’t know were happening, including cloud provider changes, automatic upgrades, and limited manual changes in sensitive environments.

We also use ControlMonkey to manage GitHub repositories and configuration as IaC, which made repository creation and configuration more structured, consistent, and easier to govern.

Overall, the product simply works. Our cooperation with the ControlMonkey team has also been excellent—they’re responsive, practical, and genuinely care about our feedback and use cases.

**What do you dislike about ControlMonkey?**

Nothing major at this point. The product has been working well for our needs.

One area that could be useful for us is more flexible grouping of namespaces, especially as more teams and environments are onboarded. Overall, the core functionality is strong and the team has been very responsive to feedback.

**What problems is ControlMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ControlMonkey helps us solve visibility, drift detection, and control across cloud infrastructure and IaC.

Before using it, our environment was harder to manage because we had several Terraform codebases, different versions, and a mix of manual and automated deployments. That created gaps in visibility and made it harder to know if the real cloud state matched the intended IaC state.

With ControlMonkey, we have much better control over onboarded environments. We get alerts on drift, including changes caused by automatic cloud provider updates or limited manual work. This helps us reduce surprises and react faster when something changes outside the expected process.

It gives us a more reliable way to manage infrastructure, keep our cloud configuration closer to the expected state, and improve confidence in our IaC process.

 ### 2. Smooth migration, faster recovery — ControlMonkey delivers both

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yogendra S. | software engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2026

**What do you like best about ControlMonkey?**

What stood out most was how smooth ControlMonkey made our migration from Terraform Cloud. They provided a migration script that let us complete the entire move in under two weeks — without interrupting any ongoing work. That kind of low-friction transition is rare.

The UI is genuinely easy to use. Navigation is intuitive, and the SSO integration with our Google IDP and Slack was straightforward to set up.

The team's responsiveness has been exceptional. We requested features we relied on in Terraform Cloud — like triggering build pipelines on commit and gating merges on pipeline success — and they delivered. They also built us a custom migration dashboard so we could track exactly which workspaces had moved over and which hadn't, giving us full visibility throughout the process.

On the technical side, support for multiple IaC runners (Terraform, OpenTofu, etc.) meant we didn't have to standardize our tooling just to use the platform.

We're now exploring ControlMonkey's Disaster Recovery capabilities, which speaks to how much confidence we've built in the product.

**What do you dislike about ControlMonkey?**

There's nothing significant to call out. As with any platform migration, there were occasional rough edges early on, but the ControlMonkey team was quick to address them. A few of the features we needed weren't available out of the box, but they were responsive to our requests and delivered them faster than expected. Overall the experience has been smooth and continues to improve.

**What problems is ControlMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We migrated from Terraform Cloud to ControlMonkey and needed the transition to be fast, safe, and non-disruptive. ControlMonkey solved that with a ready-made migration script and a custom dashboard that gave us full visibility into which workspaces had moved over — we completed the entire migration in under two weeks without impacting any ongoing work.

Beyond migration, it solved the gap in our IaC workflow around pipeline controls — we now have build pipelines triggered on commit with merge gates based on pipeline success, which we relied on in Terraform Cloud and couldn't compromise on.

We're now addressing a longer-standing problem: disaster recovery for our cloud configuration. ControlMonkey gives us consistent snapshots and a structured way to restore our infrastructure if something breaks — something we previously had no reliable answer for. Instead of depending on manual processes and tribal knowledge, we now have a repeatable recovery path with clear RTO.

 ### 3. Backup Your Entire Vendor Stack

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben A. | Platform Technical Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2026

**What do you like best about ControlMonkey?**

Extremely fast at delivering new backup features. If you’re using a third party that has a Terraform provider and you realize you don’t have IaC, no problem—get CM on their case and they’ll get you a daily backup of the entire vendor stack within a week or two. That’s amazing.

**What do you dislike about ControlMonkey?**

The stored IaC is raw and not directly usable in its current form. It would be great to have a generic way to store module inputs instead, so that the backed-up IaC can be reapplied directly.

**What problems is ControlMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Control Monkey backs up our entire cloud infrastructure, along with many of our vendors, in GitHub. I hope I don’t need to explain how beneficial that is for any company.

 ### 4. From Days to Minutes: Confident, Snapshot-Driven Recovery

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cristian C. | EMEA Lead Networking & Resilience Specialist Partner Solution Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about ControlMonkey?**

What used to take days now takes minutes, I feel confident working with them and suggest to customers their solution

**What do you dislike about ControlMonkey?**

One of the biggest benefits for our customers is how much manual work it removed from recovery situations. Before, it depended a lot on who was available and what they remembered. Now they have snapshots and a clearer path to recovery, which takes a lot of pressure off the team when something goes wrong.

**What problems is ControlMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before ControlMonkey, customers didn’t have a reliable way to reconstruct our infrastructure after an issue. Now they have consistent snapshots and a repeatable recovery process, which made our overall disaster recovery approach much stronger.

 ### 5. Clear RTOs for Cloudflare/Datadog and More—Working Exactly as Expected

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** MoShE K. | Linux System Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2026

**What do you like best about ControlMonkey?**

We have clear RTO for our Cloudflare/Datadog/etc..

**What do you dislike about ControlMonkey?**

At this stage, there isn’t much I can point to as a downside. It’s been working as expected, and we’re still exploring more of the capabilities as we g

**What problems is ControlMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ControlMonkey gave us much more confidence in our ability to recover our cloud infrastructure when something goes wrong. Instead of relying on manual processes, we now have a clear and consistent way to restore configurations, which made a big difference for us.

 ### 6. Full DRP for our Networking Architecture with Terraform and ControlMonkey

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven L. | Network Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2024

**What do you like best about ControlMonkey?**

Many of our AWS networking resources were not managed with Terraform Code, leaving us with no easy way to roll back configuration when needed.
ControlMonkey's Terraform Import Engine connected to our AWS accounts in minutes, and with a few clicks, we automatically generated the Terraform Code that represented our existing configuration.
We now have a DRP for our networking architecture, and we also utilize ControlMonkey to identify drifts from our desired networking configuration.

**What do you dislike about ControlMonkey?**

Currently supporting only Terraform/OpenTofu/Terragrunt. I’d like to see them supporting more IaC Frameworks.

**What problems is ControlMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ControlMonkey helped us shift all of our networking resources to Terraform, and we now have a DRP in place in case we need to roll back our networking configuration.

 ### 7. Shifted our AWS Infrastructure to Terraform in no time!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nimrod S. | Head of DevOps, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2023

**What do you like best about ControlMonkey?**

ControlMonkey was exactly the solution we were looking for to help us shift all our cloud accounts to Terraform. Their generative algorithm automatically generated the Terraform code for thousands of resources, and right before we knew it, we were managing and scaling our Infrastructure with Terraform. Rather than taking a few months, ControlMonkey completed the migration project in just a few weeks, and freed my DevOps time to work on other urgent projects.
Further more, we absolutely love the support we get and the professional level of the team that are ready to tackle any challenges we encounter.

**What do you dislike about ControlMonkey?**

Currently, for visibility, they only fully support AWS, which makes it a bit challenging if you're running multi-cloud. I guess they will expand their offering to Azure and GCP as well very soon

**What problems is ControlMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ControlMonkey shortened the Terraform migration project time by at least 70%, freed our DevOps from writing Terraform code themselves and made sure the process was streamlined and errorless. we also use it to create ad hock environments for testing and development, its perfect because we can control the infra and who can spin up which parts of predefined infra templates. including TTL on each of these environments.

 ### 8. Revolutionizing Infrastructure Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anton Y. | Director of DevOps and Data, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2023

**What do you like best about ControlMonkey?**

What I like best about Control Monkey is its ability to streamline our Terraform deployments. It has significantly improved our infrastructure management by making the process more efficient and secure. Additionally, it simplifies Pull Request reviews and allows team members to deploy infrastructure independently, reducing bottlenecks. The central code module managed by our DevOps team ensures consistency and collaboration.

**What do you dislike about ControlMonkey?**

I don't have anything negative to say about ControlMonkey. It has significantly improved our infrastructure management, making it more efficient and secure while simplifying various processes. Overall, it's been a highly valuable tool for our team.

**What problems is ControlMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ControlMonkey is solving several key problems for our team:

Efficiency: It streamlines Terraform deployments, reducing the time and effort required to manage infrastructure.

Security: By eliminating unnecessary access to infrastructure platforms, it enhances security and ensures that only authorized personnel make changes.

Collaboration: It simplifies Pull Request reviews, making it easier for team members to work together and follow best practices.

Decentralized Deployment: ControlMonkey empowers team members to deploy infrastructure independently, reducing dependencies on a few experts and improving overall productivity.

Centralized Code Management: Our DevOps team can effectively manage the central Terraform code as a module, ensuring consistency and compliance with best practices.

These benefits collectively result in a more efficient, secure, and collaborative work environment, ultimately helping us to deploy infrastructure faster and more reliably.

 ### 9. The Infrastructure Automation platform we were looking for

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2023

**What do you like best about ControlMonkey?**

The ControlMonkey platform was everything my team needed in order to manage and scale our AWS environments.
We use ControlMonkey as an Infrastructure CI/CD solution, and that helps us to release faster to production, without compromising on security or compliance.
Thanks to ControlMonkey we successfully shifted our mindset and strategy from ClickOps to fully GitOps.
The team there is super strong, and every feature we requested was developed in a week, which really blew my mind.

**What do you dislike about ControlMonkey?**

Not much that I dislike, this product has been a real game changer for us, but one thing to mention is that they still haven't got their own Terraform Module registry as part of what they offer.
Not that this is a big deal, but just wanted to point that out.

**What problems is ControlMonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to ControlMonkey, we used to handle all our Infrastructure operations manually through the AWS console, lacking any well-defined procedures for provisioning Infrastructure.
The ControlMonkey platform ensures that our cloud environment consistently maintains its intended configuration.
