I discovered Contra in 2022 and immediately felt so supported by the team! As a new freelancer, they've always been so helpful and the fact they're commission free is actually crazy! It's so easy to set up a portfolio and has such a user-friendly platform so you're basically guided through uploading case studies, services, etc. I couldn't recommend them enough!

There's not much to dislike about Contra but will say it's a tad difficult to find projects and industries in my niche and target audience, but the company is still expanding and growing so I know there will be more job opportunities as they continue to evolve. Contra stands out as the only freelancer platform i've personally used that puts the freelancer's best interests in mind. Fiverr, Indeed, and Upwork all take an approach that I describe as a race to the bottom, rewarding contractors who devalue their work with the cheapest imaginable prices and rates (which makes Fiverr's company name so fitting- one point for honesty I guess). Contra on the other hand not only evaluates freelancers using their platform on merit, but they also seem to curate the opportunities that people are allowed to post on their site as well. Very rarely have I seen projects that are asking for the world while offering pennies and the few projects I have seen that have advertised false rates have been promptly removed from the listing. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about the platform. The Team is Grade A, responding usually in minutes to every single request I've had over the last two years of using Contra, and I can personally speak to their character, having directed a production a client testimonial project for them as a contractor they hired. All around, the freelancer platform world is in for a shakeup if they haven't realized it by now, and if you haven't guessed it by now, I think Contra ends up at the top of the heap. I've been a freelance designer for the past four years and over the course of that time, I've had no more struggles about finding new clients, and not only that, but when I actually find them have them being good clients were willing to pay for a design and quality without making you feel as if they are doing you a favor. That's when Contra came around and changed everything for me, it was so easy to use and put myself out there from my work to my pricing to my character the implementation was flawless. Basically I get all of my work now from Contra and I use it every day. It's so easy to integrate within my workflow. Messaging and file sharing could definitely be improved. I wish there was a media hosting function. If you want to share files, you can send attachments via messages, but having a secondary file host for large projects is still a necessity. I’ve been using Contra for two years now and it’s been such a great platform for my design business. It really has everything you need to get started as a freelancer or scale your business when you're ready. One of the best things about Contra is that there are no commissions, so I get to keep more of what I earn. Contra is literally the hallway, key, and main door to freelancing in today's digital age. As a freelancer, it's hard to keep up with different software for invoicing, contracts, messaging, search for contract work, etc. - Contra solved ALL of those problems for me.
