what i like the most about IBM Cognos Analytics is how easily it concentrate our key metrics into a clean, drag and drop dashboard canvas without needing constant manual spreadsheets and also its built in AI Assistant is super helpful for asking quick natural language questions and auto suggesting chart layouts. It connects smoothly with our SQL databases and cloud storage platforms which make automated reporting reliable across the board. I like that IBM Cognos Analytics is current, has high security, and is ready for AI. We have one controlled data model that everyone uses, so I don’t have to work across different models for the same question, and I can control who uses what data. It gives me an overview of my data and helps me become more data-driven. I find it easy to model data in data modules, which give me the same foundation for all my reporting. I enjoy how easy it is to create reports and get them into different formats like Excel or PDF. Excel works better for our use case because our finance department does a lot of its work in Excel. I wish it were easier to create the data needed for drillable reports, and I’d like a more streamlined way to scrub data. The AI assistant isn’t currently applicable to us because of how our data is set up. It would be helpful if our team could use chat to get deeper information about what’s in a report. I can get rid of other third-party reporting tools, and Cognos Analytics uses our shared data resources in one centralized place, which makes it easy for us to run reports. I like the partnership we’ve built with IBM and that its products are always evolving. I really love the dashboard capability. I can compile different information month to month, and our executive teams can quickly see what may be wrong with customer data, where sales are dropping or improving, and what needs to be done. We didn’t have that capability before, and the dashboard is a very valuable tool. I can also give the agent a quick sentence to find the data I need, and it sets up the dashboards quite easily. Cognos Analytics is a one-stop shop where we can switch between and combine different assets, and get data through reports, stories, or dashboards. That makes it very efficient for us. I’ve noticed a particular limitation with SQL joins in IBM Cognos Analytics. I’ve had a few challenges with data formatting when doing certain joins in a SQL query, and SQL joins seem easier on the S/400 (iSeries). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
