"Great workspace for developers"
What do you like best about Codenvy?

I am a heavy user of the Cloud 9 IDE and a big fan of the complete cloud based coding environment. So, I was very excited to give Codenvy a whirl. I must say that I was not disappointed. I'm always wary of products that claim to be developer tools that do not do a good job catering to the developer community. Right off the bat, Codenvy does a great job at that. Their free offering is at par with Cloud 9. They do not give clear specifics on upgrading their services, which I find a bit off putting. The starting 512mb of ram that they give is not adequate for much beyond a bit of prototyping. To really work on a full scale app requires allocation of more resources. I'd rather not have to speak to someone in sales just to upgrade my workspace to a high tier. One thing that I am excited about is how they offer a paid version offsite. Cloud 9 is also based on an OpenSource project and so you can easily run the C9 engine on your own servers, but you lose a lot of the features that they have coded into their product offering....the fact that I can run an Open Source version as well as pay to run the full version in my own environment is a nice feature. What do you dislike about Codenvy?

Bottom line, I do not feel that this is a mature a platform as C9...but that is a fault that is easily cured with time. But they do have a great product, and certainly with the ability to code and use eclipse plugins, makes this a GREAT choice for an Eclipse shop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great tool for development and programming in the cloud."
What do you like best about Codenvy?

Codenvy I like it mainly because it only needs a browser on the internet for its use, it offers most programming languages for development and its interface is very simple which makes it easy to work with this tool and the best thing is that it is ideal For group work, since external users can be added to the project, whether large or small and all for a great price, Codenvy is ideal for the development of applications. "Condenvy great software for development teams!"
What do you like best about Codenvy?

The best thing about Codenvy is that you only need access to the internet because it works from any browser and allows the integration of several development teams for the same project so that each user chooses who can be integrated into their work space, and is not required Using your IDE we can use our local IDE without any problem. What do you dislike about Codenvy?

Being hosted in the cloud depends a lot on the internet connection so it can sometimes get very slow when working. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A handy tool to write and debug code"
What do you like best about Codenvy?

Codenvy targets me as a java software developer to run and debug applications in their hosted cloud IDE, while being able to share and collaborate during development and finally publish to a repository – e.g. Git – or a number of deployment platforms – e.g. Amazon, OpenShift or Google App Engine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codenvy?

Always need internet. Also, hard to change mindset if using traditional IDEs for long time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Collaboration made easier"
What do you like best about Codenvy?

Connecting with our open source software, we are now able to allow our employment specialists work through workshops with student, as workshop setup time that used to take almost an hour now takes only a moment or two. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codenvy?

The cloud does not have a safe feeling, while it may have protections in place, it has quite a generic feel to the safety of use. No visible safety features, and I am unsure if I trust this cloud usage with discussing our business. We are still in testing mode with this software, and are not yet decided if we will permanently utilize this or not. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great developer tool"
What do you like best about Codenvy?

Great tool for on the spot developing with easy access and a great solution when switching device and/or having to develop on a device without pre-installed software on it.

Also find it good for changing between languages quick and easy and switching between diffrent projects in a few easy clicks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codenvy?

Like all IDE's it takes a little while to get going and getting started with the project, but it's all about time and getting used to it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Get a Project Started Easily"
What do you like best about Codenvy?

I really like that I don't have to set up my own development environment. Just select what project type you want and when you are ready to test your code choose a run configuration and press the run button. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codenvy?

Due to the utility of the IDE it can feel a bit cluttered on a small screen. I recommend using a larger monitor or a second screen if you plan on using a laptop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Complete programming environment and cloud-based platform."
What do you like best about Codenvy?

It has complete integration with new technological platforms, is cross-platform, and you don't need to install any tools other than a browser. With this environment, it is easy to establish rules and general guidelines in large projects with many collaborators. It supports most languages, and you can have server instances inside to run unit tests or web services. It has been in the market for quite some time, therefore it is used by many developers and is well-tested, which provides confidence and stability in using it. It is very well designed for web development, both for backend and frontend. It is highly integrated with GitHub, third-party API services, and cloud-based services. It has advanced features for building or compiling code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codenvy?

Sometimes it can load very slowly, when I started using it, it was somewhat difficult and complicated to set up, the user interface can be loaded with many options, few themes to change its appearance or syntax colors, it does not have code completion, the guides can be scarce or not very understandable, the payment prices tend to be somewhat high. "Formidable development environment"
What do you like best about Codenvy?

The ability to have server instances dedicated to deploying your project or to meticulous testing units directly from the browser, very well established for web projects in general, supports multiple platforms and new development technologies, and has a complete and clean integration with GitHub and advanced tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codenvy?

It needs a better user experience, many more guides on how to do things, it is difficult to adopt especially for new developers, on some occasions it can be really slow and have an overloaded interface with many options and tools at the same time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
